‫سورة األحزاب‬

Surah Al Ahzaab
Verse 4

)4( ....‫ما جعل هللا لرجل من قلبين في جوفه‬

[33:4] Allah has not Made for any man two hearts within him . . .

:‫ حدثنا سعد بن عبد هللا قال‬:‫ حدثني أبي قال‬:‫[ المفيد ] حدثني أبو القاسم جعفر بن محمد بن قولويه القمي (رحمه هللا) قال‬
‫ عن‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬،‫ عن عاصم بن حميد الحناط‬،‫ عن الحسن بن علي بن فضال‬،‫حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى‬
‫ السالم‬:‫ فقلت‬،‫ دخلت على أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السالم) وهو في الرحبة متكئا‬:‫حنش بن المعتمر قال‬
‫ صابرا‬،‫ أصبحت محبا لمحبنا‬:‫ فرفع رأسه ورد علي وقال‬:‫ كيف أصبحت ؟ قال‬،‫عليك يا أمير المؤمنين ورحمة هللا وبركاته‬
‫ وإن مبغضنا بنى بناء فأسس بنيانه على شفا‬،‫ إن محبنا ينتظر الروح والفرج في كل يوم وليلة‬،‫على بغض من يبغضنا‬
.‫ فكان بنيانه هار فانهار به في نار جهنم‬،‫جرف هار‬

Al Mufeed – Abu Al Qasim Ja’far Bin Muhammad Bin Qawlawiya Al Qummy narrated to me, ‘My father
narrated to me, from Sa’ad Bin Abdullah, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Al Hassan Bin Ali
Bin Fazaal, from Aasim Bin Hameed Al Hanaat, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, from Hansh Bin Al
Mo’tamar who said,

‘I came to Aliasws Amir Al-Momineen Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws and heasws was in Al-
Rahba, reclining, so I said, ‘Peace be upon youasws, O Amir Al-Momineenasws and
Mercy of Allahazwj and Hisazwj Blessings! How have youasws become (are youasws)?’ So
heasws raised hisasws head turning it towards me and said, ‘Iasws have become (such)
that Iasws love the ones who love usasws, being patient upon the hatred from those that
hate usasws. Those that loves usasws are awaiting the spirit and the relief (Al-Qaimasws)
every day and night, and those that hate usasws build such a building so that the
foundation of their building is upon the verge of a hot cliff. Thus their building was hot
and would (always) be collapsing with them in the Fire of Hell.

‫ إن هللا تبارك وتعالى جبل قلوب العباد على‬.‫ وإن مبغضنا ال يستطيع أن يحبنا‬،‫يا أبا المعتمر إن محبنا ال يستطيع أن يبغضنا‬
‫ ولن يجتمع حبنا وحب عدونا في قلب واحد‬،‫ ولن يستطيع مبغضنا حبنا‬،‫ فلن يستطيع محبنا بغضنا‬،‫حبنا وخذل من يبغضنا‬
.‫ ويحب باآلخر أعدائهم‬،‫* (ما جعل هللا لرجل من قلبين في جوفه) * يحب بهذا قوما‬

O Abu Al-Mo’tamar! Those that love usasws do not have the ability that they should
hate usasws, and those that hate usasws do not have the ability that they should love
usasws. Allahazwj Blessed and High Moulded the hearts of the servants upon our asws
love and abandoning the one who hates usasws. Thus, those who loves usasws would
never have the ability to hate usasws, and never would those who hate usasws be able to
love usasws, and never would ourasws love and the love of ourasws enemies gather to be

in one heart [33:4] Allah has not Made for any man two hearts within him to love
with this (one heart) a people, and with another (heart) to love their enemies’.1

Verse 6

‫النبي أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم وأزوجه أمهتهم وأولوا االرحام بعضهم أولى ببعض في كتب هللا من المؤمنين‬
)6( ...‫والمهجرين‬

[33:6] The Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own selves, and his
wives are their mothers; and the possessors of relationships some of them are
closer to others in the Book of Allah, from the Believers and the Emigrants

‫ حدثنا القاسم‬:‫ حدثنا محمد بن يعقوب الكليني قال‬:‫[ الصدوق ] حدثنا محمد بن محمد بن عصام الكليني (رضي هللا عنه) قال‬
‫ عن محمد بن‬،‫ عن عاصم بن حميد الحناط‬،‫ حدثني علي بن إسماعيل‬:‫ حدثنا اسماعيل بن علي القزويني قال‬:‫بن العالء قال‬
‫ * (وأولوا‬:‫ فينا نزلت هذه اآلية‬:‫ عن علي بن الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب (عليهم السالم) أنه قال‬،‫ عن ثابت الثمالي‬،‫قيس‬
.* )‫االرحام بعضهم أولى ببعض في كتب هللا‬

Al Sadouq – Muhammad Bin Muhammad Bin Asaam Al Kulayni narrated to us, from Muhammad Bin
Yaqoub Al Kulayni, from Al Qasim Bin Al A’ala, from Ismail Bin Ali Al Qazwiny, from Ali Bin Ismail, from
Aasim Bin Hameed Al Hanaat, from Muhammad Bin Qays, from Sabit Al Sumaly,

Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws Bin Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws has said: ‘This Verse was
Revealed regarding usasws [33:6] and the possessors of relationships some of
them are closer to others in the Book of Allah’.2

Verse 10

)81( ‫إذ جاءوكم من فوقكم ومن أسفل منكم وإذ زاغت االبصر وبلغت القلوب الحناجر وتظنون باهلل الظنونا‬

‫ لو أن القلوب‬:‫ عن عكرمة * (وبلغت القلوب الحناجر) * قال‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬:‫[ ابن كثير ] قال أبو بكر بن عياش‬
.‫ وانما هو الخوف والفزع‬،‫تحركت أو زالت لخرجت نفسه‬

Ibn Kaseer said, ‘Abu Bakr Bin Ayash, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, from Akrama

[33:10] and the hearts rose up to the throats, said, ‘If only the hearts could move or
evaporate, their souls would have come out. But rather, it is the fear and the panic
(which is being Meant here)’.3

Verses 30 & 31

‫) ومن يقنت منكن هلل‬01( ‫ينسآء النبي من يأت منكن بفحشة مبينة يضعف لها العذاب ضعفين وكان ذلك على هللا يسيرا‬
)08( ‫ورسوله وتعمل صلحا نؤتهآ أجرها مرتين وأعتدنا لها رزقا كريما‬

[33:30] O wives of the prophet! whoever of you commits an open immorality, the
Punishment shall be increased to her doubly; and that was easy to Allah [33:31]
And whoever of you is obedient to Allah and His Rasool and does good, We will

Give her Recompense to her twice, and We have Prepared for her an honourable
sustenance

‫ إني ألرجو للمحسن منا أجرين‬:‫ عن زيد بن علي (عليه السالم) انه قال‬،‫[ الفضل الطبرسي ] روى أبو حمزة الثمالي‬
.)‫وأخاف على المسئ منا أن يضاعف له العذاب ضعفين كما وعد أزواج النبي (صلى هللا عليه وآله‬

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy – Abu Hamza Al Sumaly reported,

(It has been narrated) from Zayd son of Aliasws (4th Imam), heasws having said: ‘Iasws am
hopeful for the doer of good from usasws with two Recompenses, and Iasws fear over the
offender from us that the Punishment would be increased for him to be doubled just as
wives of the Prophetsaww had been Promised with’.4

Verse 33

)00( ‫إنما يريد هللا ليذهب عنكم الرجس أهل البيت ويطهركم تطهيرا‬

[33:33] But rather, Allah Desires to Keep away the uncleanness from you, O
people of the House! And to Purify you a with a Purification

‫ جاءت فاطمة (عليها‬:‫ عن ام سلمة قالت‬،‫ حدثني شهر بن حوشب‬:‫[ الفضل الطبرسي ] ذكر أبو حمزة الثمالي في تفسيره‬
‫ إدعي زوجك وابنيك فجاءت بهم فطعموا ثم ألقى عليهم‬:‫ فقال‬،‫السالم) إلى النبي (صلى هللا عليه وآله) تحمل حريرة لها‬
‫ اللهم هؤالء أهل بيتي وعترتي فاذهب عنهم الرجس وطهرهم تطهيرا فقلت يارسول هللا وأنا معهم ؟‬:‫ فقال‬.‫كساء له خيبريا‬
.‫ أنت إلى خير‬:‫قال‬

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy mentioned Abu Hamza Al Sumaly in his Tafseer – ‘Ibn Shehr Ashub Howshab
narrated to me,

Umm Salmaas having said: ‘(Syeda) Fatimaasws went to the Prophetsaww bearing
(wearing) silk upon herasws, so heasws said: ‘Call yourasws husbandasws and yourasws two
sonsasws’. So sheasws came with themasws. So hesaww fed themasws, then cast a
Khaybariyya cloak of hissaww over them. So hesaww said: ‘O Allahazwj! Theseasws are the
Peopleasws of mysaww Household, and mysaww family, therefore Keep away the
uncleanness from themasws and Purify themasws with a Purification’. So Ias said: ‘O
Rasool-Allahsaww! And Ias am with themasws?’ Hesaww said: ‘Youas are upon goodness’.5

‫ أخبرنا أبو أحمد عبيدهللا بن محمد بن أحمد بن‬،‫[ ابن المغازلي ] أخبرنا أبو طاهر محمد بن علي بن محمد البيع البغدادي‬
،‫ حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن سعيد األحمسي‬،‫ حدثنا أبو العباس أحمد بن محمد بن سعيد المعروف بابن عقدة الحافظ‬،‫أبي مسلم‬
‫ كنت مع علي (عليه‬:‫ عن عامر بن واثلة قال‬،‫ عن أبي إسحاق السبيعي‬،‫ عن أبي ساسان وأبي حمزة‬،‫حدثنا نصر بن مزاحم‬
‫ إلى‬...‫ ألحتجن عليكم بما ال يستطيع عربيكم وال عجميكم يغير ذلك‬:‫ فسمعت عليا يقول لهم‬،‫السالم) في البيت يوم الشورى‬
‫ * (إنما يريد هللا ليذهب عنكم الرجس أهل البيت‬:‫ فأنشدكم باهلل هل فيكم أحد أنزل هللا فيه آية التطهير حيث يقول‬:‫أن قال‬
.‫ اللهم ال‬:‫ويطهركم تطهيرا) * غيري ؟ قالوا‬

Ibn Al Maghazily – Abu Tahir Muhammad Bin Ali Bin Muhammad Al Bay’a Al Baghdady informed us,
from Abu Ahmad Ubeydullah Bin Muhammad Bin Ahmad Bin Abu Muslim, from Abu Al Abbas Ahmad
Bin Muhammad Bin Saeed well known as Uqba the memoriser, from Ja’far Bin Muhammad Bin Saeed
Al Ahmasy, from Nasr Bin Mazahim, from Abu Sasaan and Abu Hamza, from Abu Is’haq Al Sabi’e, from
Aamir Bin Wasila who said,

‘I was with Aliasws in the House on the day of the consultation, so I heard Aliasws saying
to them: ‘Iasws shall argue against you all with what neither your Arab nor your non-
Arab would have the ability to change that’ . . . until he asws said: ‘So, Iasws adjure you all
with Allahazwj! Is there anyone among you with regards to whom Allahazwj Revealed the
Verse of the Purification where Heazwj is Saying [33:33] But rather, Allah Desires to
Keep away the uncleanness from you, O people of the House! And to Purify you
a with a Purification apart from measws?’ They said, ‘O Allahazwj! No!’6

Verses 41 & 42

)44( ‫) وسبحوه بكرة وأصيال‬48( ‫يأيها الذين ءامنوا اذكروا هللا ذكرا كثيرا‬

[33:41] O you who believe! Mention Allah, with a frequent Mentioning [33:42]
And Glorify Him morning and evening

‫ عن الحسن بن‬،‫ جميعا‬،‫ وعلي بن إبراهيم عن أبيه‬،‫ وأحمد بن محمد‬،‫ عن سهل بن زياد‬،‫[ الكليني ] عدة من أصحابنا‬
‫ ما من عبد يقول إذا أصبح قبل‬:‫ عن أبي جعفر (عليه السالم) قال‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬،‫ عن مالك بن عطية‬،‫محبوب‬
‫ ال شريك له وصلى هللا‬،‫ " هللا أكبر هللا أكبر كبيرا وسبحان هللا بكرة وأصيال والحمد هلل رب العالمين كثيرا‬:‫طلوع الشمس‬
‫على محمد وآله " إال ابتدرهن ملك وجعلهن في جوف جناحه وصعد بهن إلى السماء الدنيا‬

Al Kulayni – A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, and Ahmad Bin Muhammad, and Ali
Bin Ibrahim, form his father, altogether, from Al Hassan Bin Mahboub, from Maalik Bin Atiyya, from Abu
Hamza Al Sumaly,

Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘There is none from a servant who says when it is the
morning, before the emergence of the sun,

‘‫ ال شريك له وصلى هللا على محمد وآله‬،‫’" هللا أكبر هللا أكبر كبيرا وسبحان هللا بكرة وأصيال والحمد هلل رب العالمين كثيرا‬

‘Allahazwj is the Greatest! Allahazwj is the Greatest! The Greatness and Glory be to
Allahazwj morning and evening; and the Abundant Praise is for Allah azwj Lordazwj of the
Worlds. There is no associate for Himazwj and Blessing of Allahazwj be upon
Muhammadsaww and hissaww Progenyasws’, except that a Angel takes the initiative and
makes these (words) to be in the middle of his wing and ascends by these to the sky
of the world.

‫ رحم هللا من قال هؤالء‬:‫ فيقولون‬،‫ معي كلمات قالهن رجل من المؤمنين وهي كذا وكذا‬:‫ ما معك ؟ فيقول‬:‫فتقول المالئكة‬
،‫الكلمات وغفر له‬

So the (other) Angels say: ‘What is with you?’ So he says: ‘With me are words spoken
by a man from the Believers and these are such and such’. So they say: ‘May Allahazwj
have Mercy upon the one who said these words, and Forgive him’.

‫ رحم هللا من قال هؤالء الكلمات وغفر له حتى ينتهي بهن إلى حملة‬:‫ فيقولون‬،‫ وكلما مر بسماء قال ألهلها مثل ذلك‬:‫قال‬
‫ رحم هللا هذا العبد وغفر له انطلق‬:‫ إن معي كلمات تكلم بهن رجل من المؤمنين وهي كذا وكذا فيقولون‬:‫ فيقول لهم‬،‫العرش‬
.‫بهن إلى حفظة كنوز مقالة المؤمنين فإن هؤالء كلمات الكنوز حتى تكتبهن في ديوان الكنوز‬

The Imamasws said: ‘And every time he passes by a sky, its inhabitants say similar to
that, so they say: ‘May Allahazwj have Mercy upon the one who said these words, and
Forgive him’, until he ends up with these to the bearers of the Throne, so he says to
them: ‘With me are words spoken by a man from the Believers, and these are such
and such’. So they say: ‘May Allahazwj have Mercy on this servant and Forgive him. Go
with these to Keeper of the treasures of the speech of the Believers, for these words
are a treasure, until they get inscribed in the Register of the Treasures’. 7

Verse 44

)44( ‫تحيتهم يوم يلقونه سلم وأعد لهم أجرا كريما‬

[33:44] Their salutation on the Day that they meet Him shall be, Peace! And He
has Prepared for them an honourable Recompense

:‫ حدثنا إبراهيم بن عيسى قال‬:‫ حدثنا أبي قال‬:‫ حدثنا ابن محمد قال‬:‫ حدثنا ابن حيان قال‬:‫[ الثعلبي ] أخبرني ابن فنجويه قال‬
‫ تسلم عليهم المالئكة‬:‫ * (تحيتهم يوم يلقونه سلم) * قال‬:‫ حدثني أبي حمزة الثمالي عن قوله تعالى‬:‫حدثنا علي بن علي قال‬
.‫يوم القيامة ويبشرهم حين يخرجون من قبورهم‬

Al Sa’alby – Ibn Fanjawiya informed me, from Ibn Hayaan, from Ibn Muhammad, from his father, from
Ibrahim Bin Isa, from Ali Bin Ali, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly,

(It has been narrated) about the Words of the High [33:44] Their salutation on the
Day that they meet Him shall be, Peace! Heasws said: ‘The Angels would be greeting
them on the Day of Judgement and giving them the good news when they would be
coming out from their graves’.8

Verse 53

)30( ‫وما كان لكم أن تؤذوا رسول هللا وال أن تنكحوا أزوجه من بعده أبدا إن ذلكم كان عند هللا عظيما‬

[33:53] and it does not behove you that you should hurt Rasool Allah, nor that
you should marry his wives after him ever; surely this is Grievous in the
Presence of Allah

،‫ إن رجلين قاال أينكح محمد نساءنا وال ننكح نساءه وهللا لئن مات لنكحنا نساءه‬:‫[ الفضل الطبرسي ] عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬
.‫وكان أحدهما يريد عائشة واآلخر يريد ام سلمة‬

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly that,

‘Two men said, Muhammadsaww marries our wives (after our deaths) and we cannot
marry hissaww wives (after hesaww would die). By Allahazwj! If hesaww were to die we will
marry hissaww wives. And one of them intended Ayesha, and the other one intended
Umm Salmaas’.9

Verse 56

)36( ‫إن هللا ومالئكته يصلون على النبي يأيها الذين ءامنوا صلوا عليه وسلموا تسليما‬

[33:56] Surely Allah and His Angels are Sending Blessings upon the Prophet; O
you who believe! Send blessings upon him and submit to him with a (complete)
submission

‫ عن عبد الرحمن‬،‫ حدثني السدي وحميد بن سعد األنصاري وبريد بن أبي زياد‬:‫[ الفضل الطبرسي ] قال أبو حمزة الثمالي‬
‫ لما نزلت هذه اآلية قلنا يارسول هللا هذا السالم عليك قد عرفناه فكيف الصالة عليك ؟‬:‫ عن كعب بن عجرة قال‬،‫بن أبي ليلى‬
‫ قولوا اللهم صل على محمد وآل محمد كما صليت على إبراهيم وآل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد وبارك على محمد وآل‬:‫قال‬

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy – Abu Hamza Al Sumaly said, ‘Al Sady and Hameed Bin Sa’ad Al Ansary, and
Bureyd Bin Abu Ziyad narrated to me, from Abdul Rahman Bin Abu Layli, from Ka’ab Bin Ajra who said,

‘When this Verse was Revealed, we said, ‘O Rasool-Allahsaww! This submission (Al-
Salam) upon yousaww, we have recognised it, so how to send the Blessings (Al-Salat)
upon yousaww?’ Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘Say,

‘ ‫اللهم صل على محمد وآل محمد كما صليت على إبراهيم وآل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد وبارك على محمد وآل محمد كما‬
‫’باركت على إبراهيم وآل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد‬

‘Our Allahazwj! Send Blessing upon Muhammadsaww and upon the Progenyasws of
Muhammadsaww just as Youazwj had Sent upon Ibrahimas and the Progeny of Ibrahimas,
Youazwj are the Praised One, the Glorified! And Blessings (Barakat) upon
Muhammadsaww and the Progenyasws of Muhammadsaww just as Youazwj Sent Blessings
(Barakat) upon Ibrahimas and the Progeny of Ibrahimas, Youazwj are the Praised One,
the Glorified!’.10

Verse 57

)35( ‫إن الذين يؤذون هللا ورسوله لعنهم هللا في الدنيا واالخرة وأعد لهم عذابا مهينا‬

[33:57] Surely the ones who are hurting Allah and His Rasool, Allah has Cursed
them in this world and the Hereafter, and He has Prepared for them a disgraceful
Punishment

Ibn Kaseer – Abu Bakr Bin Ayash said, from Abu Hamza Al-Sumaly, from Akrama

(It has been narrated) regarding the Words of the High [33:57] Surely, the ones who
are hurting Allah and His Rasool, said, ‘‫‘ ’هم أصحاب التصاوير‬They are the holders of the
images’.11

SURAH SABA
Verses 15 & 16

)83( ‫لقد كان لسبإ في مسكنهم ءاية جنتان عن يمين وشمال كلوا من رزق ربكم واشكروا له بلدة طيبة ورب غفور‬
)86( ‫فأعرضوا فأرسلنا عليهم سيل العرم وبدلنهم بجنتيهم جنتين ذواتي أكل خمط وأثل وشئ من سدر قليل‬

[34:15] There was a sign for Saba in their abode; two gardens on the right and
the left; Eat from the sustenance of your Lord and give thanks to Him: a good
land and a Forgiving Lord! [34:16] But they turned aside, so We Sent upon them
a flood of the dams, and We Exchanged in place of their two gardens, two
gardens yielding bitter fruit and (growing) tamarisk and a few lote-trees

‫ إنه قال لقومه لما دنا منهم‬:‫ عن عكرمة قال في كاهن سبأ‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬:‫[ ابن كثير ] قال أبو بكر بن عياش‬
- ‫ فعليه ببصرى‬،‫ وكذا وكذا والعصير‬،‫ ومن أراد الخمر والخمير‬،‫ فعليه بعمان‬،‫ من أراد سفرا بعيدا وحمال شديدا‬:‫العذاب‬
.‫ والمقيمات في المحل فعليه بيثرب ذات النخل‬،‫ ومن أراد الراسخات في الوحل‬- ‫يعني الشام‬

Ibn Kaseer – Abu Bakr Bin Ayash said, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly,

(It has been narrated) from Akrama who said, regarding a priest of Saba, ‘He said to
his people when the Punishment approached them, 'One who intends to travel far
away and bear difficulties, so upon him is Oman; and the one who intends the wine
and the dough, and such and such and the juices, so it is on him with Basra –
meaning Syria; and the one who intends to be immersed in the mud, so it is on him
with Yasrib (Medina) with the palm (trees)’.

‫ وخزاعة حتى‬- ‫ وهم بنو كعب بن عمرو‬- ‫ وخرج األوس والخزرج‬،‫ وهم غسان‬،‫فخرج قوم إلى عمان وقوم إلى الشام‬
‫ فمن ثم سميت‬،‫ فنزلوا‬،‫ هذا موضع صالح ال نريد به بدال‬:‫ فلما كانوا ببطن مر قالت خزاعة‬،‫ ذات النخل‬،‫نزلوا يثرب‬
.‫ وتقدمت األوس والخزرج حتى نزلوا بيثرب‬.‫ ألنهم تخزعوا من أصحابهم‬،‫خزاعة‬

So a people went to Oman, and a people went to Syria, and they were washers, and
Al-Aws and Al-Khazraj went out – and they were the Clan of Ka’ab Bin Amro – and
Khuza’at until they descended at Yasrab, by the Palm trees. So when they were in the
middle, Khuza’at said, ‘This is a correct place, we do not want it to be changed’. So
they encamped. So then is it called Kahza’at because they bowed to their
companions. And Al-Aws and Al-Khazraj preceded until they encamped at Yasrab’.12

Verse 18

)81( ‫وجعلنا بينهم وبين القرى التى بركنا فيها قرى ظهرة وقدرنا فيها السير سيروا فيها ليالى وأياما ءامنين‬

[34:18] And We Made between them and the towns which We had Blessed
(other) towns to be apparent, and We Apportioned the journey therein: Travel
through them nights and days, in security

‫ دخل قاض من قضاة أهل الكوفة على علي بن الحسين (عليهما السالم) فقال‬:‫[ أحمد الطبرسي ] عن أبي حمزة الثمالي قال‬
‫ * (وجعلنا بينهم وبين القرى التى بركنا فيها قرى ظهرة وقدرنا فيها‬:‫ جعلني هللا فداك ! اخبرني عن قول هللا عزوجل‬:‫له‬
‫ وهل رأيت‬:‫ فقال‬.‫ انها مكة‬:‫ يقولون‬:‫ ما يقول الناس فيها قبلكم ؟ قال‬:‫ قال له‬.* )‫السير سيروا فيها ليالى وأياما ءامنين‬
.‫السرق في موضع أكثر منه بمكة‬

Ahmad Al Tabarsy, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly who said,

‘A judge from the judges of the people of Al-Kufa came up to Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws,
so he said to himasws, ‘May Allahazwj Make me to be sacrificed for youasws! Inform me
about the Words of the Mighty and Majestic [34:18] And We Made between them
and the towns which We had Blessed (other) towns to be apparent, and We
Apportioned the journey therein: Travel through them nights and days, in
security’. Heasws said to him: ‘What are the people saying regarding it, before you in
Al-Iraq?’ So he said, ‘They are saying that it is Makkah’. So he asws said: ‘And have you
seen more theft in a place than Makkah?’

‫ * (وكأين من قرية‬:‫ أوما تسمع إلى قوله عزوجل‬:‫ وأين ذلك في كتاب هللا ؟ فقال‬:‫ قال‬.‫ انما عنى الرجال‬:‫ فما هو ؟ قال‬:‫قال‬
* )‫ * (وسل القرية التى كنا فيها والعير التى أقبلنا فيها‬:‫ * (وتلك القرى أهلكنهم) * وقال‬:‫عتت عن أمر ربها ورسله) * وقال‬
‫أفيسأل القرية أو الرجال أو العير ؟‬

He said, ‘So what is it?’ The Imamasws said: ‘But rather, it means the men?’ He said,
‘And where is it then in the Book of Allahazwj?’ So heasws said: ‘Or have you not listened
to the Words of the Mighty and Majestic [65:8] And how many a town which
rebelled against the Commandment of its Lord and His Messengers, and Said
[18:59] And (as for) these towns, We Destroyed them, and Said [12:82] And ask
the town in which we were and the caravan with which we proceeded. So did
they question the town, or the people, or the caravan?’

‫ * (سيروا فيها‬:‫ أو ما تسمع إلى قوله‬:‫ فقال‬.‫ نحن هم‬:‫ جعلت فداك ! فمن هم ؟ قال‬:‫ قال‬.‫ وتال عليه آيات في هذا المعنى‬:‫قال‬
.‫ آمنين من الزيغ‬:‫ليالى وأياما ءامنين) * ؟ قال‬

He said, ‘And Imamasws recited to him a Verse regarding this Meaning’. He said: ‘May
we be sacrificed for youasws, so who are they?’ Heasws said: ‘Weasws are they’. And
Hisazwj Words [34:18] Travel through them nights and days, in security, heasws
said: ‘(to be) Safe from the deviation’.13

‫ جئتك ألسألك عن أشياء‬:‫ أتى الحسن البصري أبا جعفر (عليه السالم) فقال‬:‫[ أحمد الطبرسي ] عن أبي حمزة الثمالي قال‬
‫ هل بالبصرة‬:)‫ فقال له أبو جعفر (عليه السالم‬.‫ قد يقال ذلك‬:‫ ألست فقيه أهل البصرة ؟ قال‬:‫ فقال أبو جعفر‬.‫من كتاب هللا‬
،‫ ال‬:‫أحد تأخذ عنه ؟ قال‬

Ahmad Al Tabarsy, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly who said,

‘Al-Hassan Al-Basry came to Abu Ja’farasws, so he said, ‘I have come to youasws to ask
youasws about things from the Book of Allahazwj’. So Abu Ja’farasws said : ‘Are you not a
jurist of the people of Al-Basra?’ He said, ‘It has been said, that’. So Abu Ja’farasws
said to him: ‘Is there anyone at Al-Basra whom you take (your knowledge) from?’ He
said, ‘No’.

‫ بلغني عنك أمر‬،‫ سبحان هللا لقد تقلدت عظيما من األمر‬:‫ فقال أبو جعفر‬.‫ نعم‬:‫ فجميع أهل البصرة يأخذون عنك ؟ قال‬:‫قال‬
:‫ قال‬.‫ إن هللا خلق العباد ففوض إليهم امورهم‬:‫ زعموا أنك تقول‬:‫ ما هو ؟ قال‬:‫ أم يكذب عليك ؟ قال‬،‫فما أدري أكذاك أنت‬
.‫فسكت الحسن‬

The Imamasws said: ‘So the whole of the people of Al-Basra are taking (knowledge)
from you?’ He said, ‘Yes’. So Abu Ja’farasws said: ‘Glory be to Allahazwj! You have
collared yourself (offered Taqleed: taken a Great responsibility) with a great matter. A
matter has reached measws from you, so Iasws do not know whether it is like that with
you, or it has been belied against you?’ He said, ‘What is it?’ The Imamasws said: ‘They
are claiming that you are saying, ‘Allahazwj Created the servants, so Heazwj Delegated
their matters to them’. He (the narrator) said, ‘Al-Hassan (Al-Basry) was silent’.

‫ فقال أبو جعفر (عليه‬.‫ ال‬:‫ هل عليه خوف بعد هذا القول منه ؟ فقال الحسن‬،‫ إنك آمن‬:‫ أرأيت من قال هللا له في كتابه‬:‫فقال‬
‫ فان كنت فعلت ذلك فقد‬،‫ وال أحسبك اال وقد فسرته على غير وجهه‬،‫ اني أعرض عليك آية وانهي إليك خطابا‬:)‫السالم‬
‫ * (وجعلنا بينهم وبين القرى التى بركنا فيها قرى ظهرة وقدرنا‬:‫ أرأيت حيث يقول‬:‫ ما هو ؟ قال‬:‫ فقال له‬.‫هلكت وأهلكت‬
)‫ فقال أبو جعفر (عليه السالم‬.‫ يا حسن بلغني انك أفتيت الناس فقلت هي مكة‬.* )‫فيها السير سيروا فيها ليالى وأياما ءامنين‬
‫ فمتى يكونون آمنين ؟‬:‫ قال‬.‫ بلى‬:‫ وهل تذهب أموالكم ؟ قال‬،‫فهل يقطع على من حج مكة وهل يخاف أهل مكة‬

So the Imamasws said: ‘The one to whom Allahazwj Says in Hisazwj Book: “You are safe”,
is there any fear to be upon him after these Words from Him azwj?’ So Al-Hassan (Al-
Basry) said, ‘No’. So Abu Ja’farasws said: ‘Iasws am presenting to you a Verse and
ending to you the address, and Iasws reckon that you have interpreted it upon other
than its (correct) aspect. So if you have done that, so you are destroyed and causing
others to be destroyed’. So he said to himasws, ‘What is it?’ The Imamasws said: ‘What is
your view where Heazwj is Saying [34:18] And We Made between them and the
towns which We had Blessed (other) towns to be apparent, and We Apportioned
the journey therein: Travel through them nights and days, in security? O Hassan!
It has reached me that you are issuing Verdicts (Fatwas) to the people’. So he said, ‘It
is Makkah’. So Abu Ja’farasws said: ‘So is the one who goes for Hajj gets his way cut
off (by bandits), and is there fear upon the people of Makkah, and does your wealth go
away?’ He said, ‘Yes’. Heasws said: ‘So when will they happen to be safe?

‫ فمن أقر بفضلنا حيث بينهم‬،‫ وذلك قول هللا عزوجل‬،‫ فنحن القرى التي بارك هللا فيها‬.‫بل فينا ضرب هللا األمثال في القرآن‬
‫ وفقهاء شيعتنا إلى‬،‫ والنقلة عنا إلى شيعتنا‬،‫ الرسل‬:‫ والقرى الظاهرة‬،‫ قرى ظاهرة‬،‫وبين شيعتهم القرى التي باركنا فيها‬
.‫شيعتنا‬

But, it is with regards to usasws that Allahazwj has Given Examples in the Quran. So
weasws are the town in which Allahazwj has Blessed, and that is in the Words of Allah azwj
Mighty and Majestic. So the one who accepts ourasws merits that weasws are the
apparent town between them and theirasws Shias, the town which Allahazwj has Blessed
therein. And the apparent town – The Rasoolsaww, and the transferring (copying of
Hadeeth) from usasws to the ‘‫( ’فقهاء‬the narrator of Ahadith) of ourasws Shias, to ourasws
Shias’.

‫ مثل لما يسير من العلم في الليالي واأليام عنا‬،‫ سير به ليالي وأياما‬،‫ * (وقدرنا فيها السير) * فالسير مثل للعلم‬:‫وقوله تعالى‬
‫ والنقلة من الحرام إلى‬،‫ آمنين من الشك والضالل‬،‫ آمنين فيها إذا أخذوا منه‬،‫ والفرائض واألحكام‬،‫ في الحالل والحرام‬،‫إليهم‬
‫ ذرية‬،‫ ألنهم أهل ميراث العلم من آدم إلى حيث انتهوا‬،‫ بالمعرفة‬،‫ ألنهم أخذوا العلم ممن وجب لهم أخذهم إياه عنهم‬،‫الحالل‬
‫ ال أنت وال أشباهك يا‬،‫ ونحن تلك الذرية المصطفاة‬،‫ بل إلينا انتهى‬،‫ فلم ينته االصطفاء إليكم‬،‫مصطفاة بعضها من بعض‬
،‫حسن‬

And the Words of the High and We Apportioned the journey therein, so the journey
is like the Knowledge, journeying with it nights and days. The example of the one who
journeys from the Knowledge during the nights and the days from us asws to them
(Shias), regarding the Permissible and the Prohibited, and the Obligations and the
Judgements, there is safety in it when it is taken from him, safety from the doubt and
the straying, and the transferring from the Prohibited to (become) the Permissible,
because they are taking the Knowledge from the ones asws whom it is Obligated for
them to take it from themasws, with the recognition, because theyasws are the peopleasws
who inherited the Knowledge from Adamas to where it has ended, children of
Mustafasaww, from each other. Thus, it has not ended up to you, but it has ended up
with usasws, and weasws are the children, the Chosen ones, not you and those that
resemble you, O Hassan!

،‫ وظهر لي عنك‬،‫ يا جاهل أهل البصرة ! لم أقل فيك إال ما علمته منك‬:‫ وليس إليك‬،‫ حين ادعيت ما ليس لك‬- ‫فلو قلت لك‬
.‫ وال أجبرهم على معاصيه ظلما‬،‫ وهنا منه وضعفا‬،‫وإياك أن تقول بالتفويض فان هللا عزوجل لم يفوض األمر إلى خلقه‬

So if Iasws were to say to you – what you are claiming is not for you, and is not to you,
O ignorant one of the people of Al-Basra!, Iasws am not saying regarding you except
what Iasws know of from you, and it manifests to me asws from you. And beware that you
should be saying of the delegation, for Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic does not Delegate
the Command to Hisazwj creatures, and over here from a weakness, and Heazwj does
not Compel them upon the disobedience to Himazwj, (for it would be) an injustice’.14

Verse 46

)46( ....‫قل إنما أعظكم بوحدة‬

[34:46] Say: But rather, I exhort (urge) you to one thing . . .

‫ * (قل إنما أعظكم‬:‫ سألت أبا جعفر (عليه السالم) عن قول هللا تعالى‬:‫[ فرات الكوفي ] معنعنا عن أبي حمزة الثمالي قال‬
.‫ إنما أعظكم بواحدة‬:‫ انما أعظكم بوالية علي وهي الواحدة التي قال هللا‬:‫بوحدة) * قال‬

Furaat Al Kufy – Along with us from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly who said,

‘I asked Abu Ja’farasws about the Words of Allahazwj the High [34:46] Say: But rather, I
exhort (urge) you to one thing, said: ‘But rather, Isaww am exhorting (urging) you with
the Wilayah of Aliasws and it is the one thing which Allahazwj Says of [34:46] Say: But
rather, I urge you to one thing’.15

Verse 51

)38( ‫ولو ترى إذ فزعوا فال فوت وأخذوا من مكان قريب‬

[34:51] And if you could see when they shall become terrified, so there shall be
no escape and they shall be Seized upon from a near place

‫ سمعت علي بن الحسين (عليه السالم) والحسن بن الحسن بن علي (عليه‬:‫[ الفضل الطبرسي ] قال أبو حمزة الثمالي‬
.‫ هو جيش البيداء يؤخذون من تحت أقدامهم‬:‫السالم) يقوالن‬

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy – Abu Hamza Al Sumaly said,

‘I heard Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws and Al-Hassan son of Al-Hassanasws both saying: ‘It
is the army (of Al-Sufyani) at Al-Bayda being Seized from underneath their feet (and
submerged into the earth)’.

‫ قال رسول هللا (صلى‬:‫ سمعت ام سلمة تقول‬:‫ وحدثني عمرو بن مرة وحمران بن أعين انهما سمعا مهاجرا المكي يقول‬:‫قال‬
.‫ فيبعث هللا إليه جيشا حتى إذا كانوا بالبيداء بيداء المدينة خسف بهم‬،‫ يعوذ عائذ بالبيت‬:)‫هللا عليه وآله‬

He (the narrator) said, ‘And Amro Bin Marat, and Hamran Bin Ayn narrated to me, that they both heard
Muhajira Al Makky saying,

‘I heard Umm Salmaas saying: ‘Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘The seeker of Refuge will seek
Refuge with the House (Kabah), so Allahazwj would Send an army to him until when
they would be at Al-Bayda, Bayda of Al-Medina would submerge with them’.16

Verse 52

)34( ‫وقالوا ءامنا به وأنى لهم التناوش من مكان بعيد‬

[34:52] And they shall say: We believe in it. And how shall the attaining (of faith)
be possible to them from a remote place?

‫ عن ابن‬،‫ عن محمد بن جمهور‬،‫ عن المعلى بن محمد‬،‫ ] أخبرنا الحسين بن محمد‬:‫[ في تفسير علي بن إبراهيم ] [ قال‬
‫ انهم طلبوا‬:‫ سألت أبا جعفر (عليه السالم) عن قوله * (وأنى لهم التناوش من مكان بعيد) * قال‬:‫ عن أبي حمزة قال‬،‫محبوب‬
.‫الهدى من حيث ال ينال وقد كان لهم مبذوال من حيث ينال‬

In Tafseer of Ali Bin Ibrahim, said, ‘Al Husayn Bin Muhammad narrated to us, from Al Moala Bin
Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Jamhour, from Ibn Mahboub, from Abu Hamza who said,

‘I asked Abu Ja’farasws about Hisazwj Words [34:52] And how shall the attaining (of
Eman) be possible to them from a remote place? The Imamasws said: ‘They would
be seeking guidance from where it cannot be attained, and it had been Made for them
from where they could have attained it’.17

‫سورة فاطر‬

SURAH FATIR
Verse 28

)41( ‫إنما يخشى هللا من عباده العلمؤا إن هللا عزيز غفور‬

[35:28] but rather it is those of His servants only who have knowledge who fear
Allah; surely Allah is Mighty, Forgiving

* )‫ عن علي (عليه السالم‬،‫ عن األصبغ بن نباتة‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة‬،‫ حدثنا حصين‬:‫ وباالسناد ] قال‬:‫[ يحيى الشجري ] [ قال‬
.‫ اعلم الناس باهلل أشدهم خشية‬:‫(إنما يخشى هللا من عباده العلمؤا) * قال‬

Yahya Al Shajary said, ‘And by this chain, Haseyn narrated to us, from Abu Hamza, from Al Asbagh Bin
Nabata,

(It has been narrated) from (Imam) Aliasws [35:28] but rather it is those of His
servants only who have knowledge who fear Allah. Heasws said: ‘The most
knowledgeable of the people is the most intense in his fearing’. 18

Verses 32 & 33

‫ثم أورثنا الكتب الذين اصطفينا من عبادنا فمنهم ظالم لنفسه ومنهم مقتصد ومنهم سابق بالخيرت بإذن هللا ذلك هو الفضل‬
)00( ‫) جنت عدن يدخلونها يحلون فيها من أساور من ذهب ولؤلؤا ولباسهم فيها حرير‬04( ‫الكبير‬

[35:32] Then We Gave the Book as an inheritance to those whom We Chose


from among Our servants; but from them is he who unjust to his own self, and
of them is he who is moderate, and of them is he who is foremost in deeds of
goodness by Allah’s Permission; that is the great virtue [35:33] Gardens of
Eden, they shall enter therein; they shall be wearing therein bracelets of gold
and pearls, and their dress therein shall be of silk

،‫ حدثنا أبو عوانة موسى بن يوسف الكوفي‬:‫ قال‬،‫ حدثنا أبي‬:‫ قال‬،‫[ الصدوق ] حدثنا أبو عبد هللا الحس ين بن يحيى البجلي‬
‫ كنت جالسا في المسجد‬:‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي قال‬،‫ عن أبي حفص‬،‫ عن يعقوب بن يحيى‬،‫قال حدثنا عبد هللا بن يحيى‬
‫ يابن رسول هللا إنا نريد أن نسألك عن مسألة‬:‫الحرام مع أبي جعفر (عليه السالم) إذ أتاه رجالن من أهل البصرة فقاال له‬
‫ * (ثم أورثنا الكتب الذين اصطفينا من عبادنا فمنهم ظالم‬:‫ اخبرنا عن قول هللا عزوجل‬:‫ قاال‬.‫ اسأال عما جئتما‬:‫فقال لهما‬
.‫ نزلت فينا أهل البيت‬:‫ قال‬.‫لنفسه ومنهم مقتصد ومنهم سابق بالخيرت بإذن هللا ذلك هو الفضل الكبير) * إلى آخر اآليتين‬

Al Sadouq – Abu Abdullah Al Husayn Bin Yahya Al Bajaly narrated to us, from his father, from Abu
Awana Musa Bin Yusuf Al Kufy, from Abdullah Bin Yahya, from Yaqoub Bin Yahya, from Abu Hafs,
from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly who said,

‘I was seated in the Sacred Masjid with Abu Ja’farasws when two men from the people
of Al-Basra came over, so they both said to him, ‘O son asws of Rasool-Allahsaww! We
want to ask you some questions’. So Imamasws said to them both: ‘Ask whatever
comes to both of you’. They said, ‘Inform us about the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and
Majestic [35:32] Then We Gave the Book as an inheritance to those whom We
Chose from among Our servants; but from them is he who unjust to his own
self, and of them is he who is moderate, and of them is he who is foremost in
deeds of goodness by Allah’s Permission; that is the great virtue – up to the end
of the two Verses. Imamasws said: ‘It was Revealed regarding usasws, the Peopleasws of
the Household’.

.‫ من استوت حسناته وسيئاته منا أهل البيت فهو ظالم لنفسه‬:‫ بأبي أنت وامي فمن الظالم لنفسه ؟ قال‬:‫قال أبو حمزة فقلت‬
‫ من دعا‬:‫ فمن السابق منكم بالخيرات ؟ قال‬:‫ فقلت‬.‫ العابد هلل ربه في الحالين حتى يأتيه اليقين‬:‫ من المقتصد منكم ؟ قال‬:‫فقلت‬

‫ ولم يرض بحكم‬،‫ وال للخائنين خصيما‬.‫ ولم يكن للمضلين عضدا‬،‫ ونهى عن المنكر‬،‫وهللا إلى سبيل ربه وأمر بالمعروف‬
.‫الفاسقين إال من خاف على نفسه ودينه ولم يجد أعوانا‬

Abu Hamza said, ‘May my father and my mother be sacrificed for you asws! So who is
the one who is unjust to his own self?’ The Imamasws said: ‘The one from usasws
(ourasws descendants) the People of the Household, whose good deeds equal to his
evil deeds, so he is unjust to his own self’. So I said, ‘Who is the moderate one from
youasws?’ The Imamasws said: ‘The worshipper for the Sake of Allahazwj, his Lordazwj,
being in two states until he comes to conviction’. So I said, ‘The one who is foremost
in deeds of goodness from youasws?’ The Imamasws said: ‘By Allahazwj! The one who
calls to the Way of his Lordazwj, and enjoins the good, and prevents from the evil, and
does not become a support for the deceived, nor an adversary on behalf of the
betrayers, and does not turn away with the judgement of the mischievous ones except
from fear upon himself, and his Religion, and cannot find any supporters’.19

‫ حدثني الحسين بن إبراهيم بن الحسن‬:‫[ الحاكم الحسكاني ] حدثونا عن أبي بكر محمد بن الحسين بن صالح السبيعي قال‬
‫ عن علي بن‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬،‫ أخبرنا الحسين بن الحكم حدثنا عمرو بن خالد أبو حفص األعشى‬:‫الجصاص قال‬
‫ يابن رسول هللا جئناك كي تخبرنا عن آيات من‬:‫ اني لجالس عنده إذ جاءه رجالن من أهل العراق فقاال‬:‫ قال‬،‫الحسين‬
‫ وما هي ؟‬:‫ فقال‬.‫القرآن‬

Al Hakim Al Haskany, Abu Bakr Muhammad Bin Al Husayn Bin Salih Al Sabi’e narrated to us, from Al
Husayn Bin Ibrahim Bin Al Hasan Al Jasaas, from Al Husayn Bin Al Hakam, from Amro Bin Khalid Abu
Hafs Al A’ash, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly,

(It has been narrated) from Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws, said, ‘I was seated in hisasws
presence when two men from the people of Al-Iraq came over, so they both said, ‘O
sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww! We have come to youasws so that youasws would inform us
about Verses from the Quran’ Heasws said: ‘And what would these be?’

‫ انها نزلت في‬:‫ يا أهل العراق وأيش يقولون ؟ قاال يقولون‬:‫ * (ثم أورثنا الكتب الذين اصطفينا) * فقال‬:‫ قول هللا تعالى‬:‫قاال‬
! ! ‫ امة محمد كلهم إذا في الجنة‬:‫امة محمد (صلى هللا عليه وآله) فقال لهم علي بن الحسين‬

They both said, ‘The Words of Allahazwj the High [35:32] Then We Gave the Book as
an inheritance to those whom We Chose’. So Imamasws said: ‘O people of Al-Iraq,
which thing are they saying?’ They both said, ‘They are saying that it was Revealed
regarding the community of Muhammadsaww’. So Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws said to
them: ‘Then the community of Muhammadsaww, all of them would be in the Paradise!’

- ‫ ثالث مرات‬- ‫ نزلت وهللا فينا أهل البيت‬:‫ يابن رسول هللا فيمن نزلت ؟ فقال‬،‫ من بين القوم‬:‫ فقلت‬:‫قال‬

I said, ‘From in between the people, O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww, so for whom was it
Revealed?’ So Imamasws said: ‘‫ ثالث مرات‬- ‫‘ ’نزلت وهللا فينا أهل البيت‬By Allahazwj! It was
Revealed regarding usasws, the Peopleasws of the Household’ – three times.

‫ العابد هلل‬:‫ والمقتصد ؟ قال‬:‫ فقلت‬- ‫ وهو في الجنة‬- ‫ الذي استوت حسناته وسيئاته‬:‫ أخبرنا من فيكم الظالم لنفسه ؟ قال‬:‫قلت‬
.‫ من شهر سيفه ودعا إلى سبيل ربه‬:‫ السابق بالخيرات ؟ قال‬:‫ فقلت‬.‫في بيته حتى يأتيه اليقين‬

I said, ‘Inform us, who among you is unjust to his own self?’ The Imamasws said: ‘The
one whose good deeds and his evil deeds are equal (from ourasws descendants)– and

he would be in the Paradise’. So I said, ‘And the moderate one?’ Heasws said: ‘The
worshipper for the Sake of Allahazwj in his house until the conviction comes to him’. I
said, ‘The one who is foremost in the deeds of goodness?’ Heasws said: ‘The oneasws
(An Imamasws) who displays his sword and calls to the Way of his Lordazwj’.20

Verse 34

)04( ‫وقالوا الحمد هلل الذى أذهب عنا الحزن إن ربنا لغفور شكور‬

[35:34] And they shall say: The Praise is due to Allah, Who has Made grief to
depart from us

.‫ * (الحزن) * حزن الدنيا‬:‫[ الثعلبي ] قال الثمالي‬

Al Sa’alby – Al Sumaly said,

‘(The grief) is the grief of the world’.21

Verse 45

)43( ....‫ولو يؤاخذ هللا الناس بما كسبوا ما ترك على ظهرها من دابة‬

[35:45] And if Allah were to seize the people for what they earn, He would not
leave on the back of it any creature

.‫ يحبس المطر فيهلك كل شئ‬:‫[ الثعلبي ] قال أبو حمزة الثمالي في هذه اآلية‬

Al Sa’alby – Abu Hamza Al Sumaly said

(It has been narrated) regarding this Verse, ‘Heazwj would Withhold the rain, so Heazwj
would Destroy everything’.22

‫سورة يس‬

Surah Yaseen
‫ من قرأ * (يس والقرءان الحكيم) * لم يزل‬:‫ عن عكرمة قال‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬:‫[ ابن كثير ] قال أبو بكر بن عياش‬
.‫ذلك اليوم في سرور حتى يمسي‬

Ibn Kaseer – Abu Bakr Bin Ayash said, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, from Akrama who said,

‘The one who recites [36:1] Ya Seen [36:2] I swear by the Wise Quran, would not
cease to be in joyfulness during that day until the evening’.23

Verse 9

)9( ‫وجعلنا من بين أيديهم سدا ومن خلفهم سدا فأغشينهم فهم ال يبصرون‬

[36:9] And We have made in front of them a barrier and a barrier behind them, so
We have Covered them over, so they are not seeing

‫ أن قريشا‬،‫ عن عبد هللا بن مسعود‬،‫ عن شقيق بن سلمة‬،‫ عن عمار بن عاصم‬،‫[ الفضل الطبرسي ] روى أبو حمزة الثمالي‬
‫ هم الذين‬:‫ قال عبد هللا‬.‫اجتمعوا بباب النبي (صلى هللا عليه وآله) فخرج إليهم فطرح التراب على رؤوسهم وهم ال يبصرونه‬
.‫سحبوا في القليب قليب بدر‬

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy – It has been reported by Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, from Amaar Bin Aasim, from
Shaqeeq Bin Salma, from Abdullah Bin Masoud that,

‘Qureysh gathered at the door of the Prophetsaww. So hesaww came out to them, and
hesaww put dust over their heads and they could not see himsaww’. Abdullah said, ‘They
are the ones who pulled (the water) in the well, the well of Badr’.24

‫ لئن دخل محمد لنقومن إليه قيام‬:‫ أن قريشا اجتمعت فقال‬،‫ عن ابن عباس‬،‫ عن مجاهد‬،‫[ الفضل الطبرسي ] روى أبو حمزة‬
‫ فدخل النبيى (صلى هللا عليه وآله) فجعل هللا من بين أيديهم سدا ومن خلفهم سدا فلم يبصروه فصلى النبي‬،‫رجل واحد‬
‫ هذا ما‬:‫(صلى هللا عليه وآله) ثم أتاهم فجعل ينثر على رؤوسهم التراب وهم ال يرونه فلما خلى عنهم رأوا التراب وقالوا‬
.‫سحركم ابن أبي كبشة‬

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy – Abu Hamza reported, from Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas, that

‘Qureysh gathered and said, ‘If Muhammadsaww were to enter, we would stand against
him like the standing of one man (united stance). So the Prophet saww entered, and
Allahazwj Made a barrier to be in front of them, and a barrier behind them, so they did
not see him. So the Prophetsaww Prayed, then came up to them, tossing dust over their
heads, and they did not see himsaww. So when they were alone, they shrugged off the
dust and said, ‘This is what Ibn Abu Kabasha has bewitched you with’.25

Verse 13 & 14

‫) إذ أرسلنا إليهم اثنين فكذبوهما فعززنا بثالث فقالوا إنآ إليكم‬80( ‫واضرب لهم مثال أصحب القرية إذ جاءها المرسلون‬
)84( ‫مرسلون‬

[36:13] And strike for them an example of the people of the town, when the
Rasools came to it [36:14] When We Sent to them two, they rejected both of
them, then We Strengthened (them) with a third, so they said: Surely we are
Rasools to you

‫ أرشدوني إلى‬:‫ فقال‬،‫ فدخل المدينة‬،‫ فبعث هللا الثالث‬،‫ فأخذوهما و حبسوهما في بيت األصنام‬،‫ فغلظوا عليهما‬،‫ال يعرفون‬

In the Tafseer of Ali Bin Ibrahim said, ‘It has been narrated to me from my father, from Al-Hassan Bin
Mahboub, from Maalik Bin Atiya, from Abu Hamza Al-Thumaly,

‘I asked Abu Ja’farasws about the explanation of this Verse. The Imamasws said:
‘Allahazwj Sent two men to the city of Antioch. They went (there) without having any
reference/introduction to them. The people arrested both of them and imprisoned them
in the house of idols. So Allahazwj Sent a third one. He entered the city. He said, ‘Guide
me to the door of the king.’

‫ فأبلغوا كالمه‬.‫ و قد أحببت أن أعبد إله الملك‬،‫ أنا رجل كنت أتعبد في فالة من األرض‬:‫ قال‬،‫ فلما وقف على الباب‬:‫قال‬
،‫ بالخرق‬،‫ بهذا ينقل قوم من دين إلى دين‬:‫ فقال لهما‬،‫ فمكث سنة مع صاحبيه‬،‫ فأدخلوه‬.‫ أدخلوه إلى بيت اآللهة‬:‫ فقال‬،‫الملك‬
.‫ ال تقران بمعرفتي‬:‫أال رفقتما؟! ثم قال لهما‬

Imamasws said: ‘When he paused at the door, he said, ‘I am a man who used to
worship in the jungles of the earth, I would love to worship the god of the king.’ They
related his words to the king, who said, ‘Tell him to enter into the house of gods.’ He
entered it. He stayed there for a year with his two companions. He said to them both,
‘With this (harshness) the people alter from religion to religion with the violation. Were
you two not friendly?’ Then he said to them both, ‘Do not disclose my recognition.’

-‫ مالي من حاجة‬:‫ قال‬.‫ فسلني حاجتك‬،‫ فلم أزل و أنت أخي‬،‫ بلغني أنك كنت تعبد إلهي‬:‫ فقال له الملك‬،‫ثم ادخل على الملك‬
‫ و يدعواني‬،‫ هذان رجالن أتياني يضالني عن ديني‬:‫ فما بالهما؟ قال الملك‬،‫ و لكني رأيت رجلين في بيت اآللهة‬-‫أيها الملك‬
،‫ و إن يكن الحق لنا دخال معنا في ديننا‬،‫ فإن يكن الحق لهما اتبعناهما‬،‫ مناظرة جميلة‬،‫ أيها الملك‬:‫ فقال‬.‫إلى إله السماو ات‬
.»‫ و عليهما ما علينا‬،‫فكان لهما مالنا‬

Then he went to the king, so the king said to him, ‘They tell me that you have been
worshipping my god. Don’t ever stop, and you are my brother. Ask me for your needs.’
He said, ‘I have no need, O king, but I have seen two men in the house of gods, why
are they there?’ The king said, ‘These two men were brought to me having strayed
away from my religion and they called me to the God of the skies.’ He said, ‘O king! A
beautiful debate! If the truth is to be found with these two, we shall follow both of them,
and if the truth is with us, they will enter with us in our religion. So for them both is
what is for us, and against them both is what is against us.’

‫ جئنا ندعو إلى عبادة هللا الذي خلق‬:‫ ما الذي جئتما به؟ قاال‬:‫ فلما دخال إليه قال لهما صاحبهما‬،‫ « فبعث الملك إليهما‬:‫قال‬
‫ و أنزل القطر من‬،‫ و أنبت األشجار و الثمار‬،‫ و يصور كيف يشاء‬،‫ و يخلق في األرحام ما يشاء‬،‫السماوات و األرض‬
‫ إن سألناه‬:‫ إن جئنا بأعمى يقدر أن يرده صحيحا؟ قاال‬،‫ و إلى عبادته‬،‫ إلهكما هذا الذي تدعوان إليه‬:‫ فقال لهما‬-‫ قال‬-‫السماء‬
.‫أن يفعل فعل إن شاء‬

Imamasws said: ‘Then king sent for both of them. When they came to him, he said to
them both, ‘What is that which the two of you have come here for?’ They said, ‘We
have come to call to the worship of Allahazwj Who Created the skies and the earth, and
Creates in the wombs whatsoever Allahazwj so Desires to, and Caricatures (whatever
one sees in the atmosphere) however, Allahazwj so Desires, and mountains and the
trees and the fruits, and Sends down drops from the sky.’ The king said to them both,
‘This God of yours that you are calling upon to, and to Hisazwj worship, that Heazwj
should return this blind person’s eyesight back to be correct by His azwj Power?’ They
said, ‘We shall ask Himazwj and Heazwj will do that if Heazwj so Desires to.

‫ فإذا‬،‫ و صليا ركعتين‬،‫ فقاما‬،‫ ادعوا إلهكما أن يرد بصره هذا‬:‫ فقال‬،‫ فأتي به‬.‫ علي بأعمى لم يبصر شيئا قط‬،‫ أيها الملك‬:‫قال‬
‫ ثم رفع رأسه فإذا‬،‫ فسجد سجدة‬،‫ فأتي به‬،‫ علي بأعمى آخر‬،‫ أيها الملك‬:‫ فقال‬.‫عيناه مفتوحتان و هو ينظر إلى السماء‬
.‫األعمى اآلخر بصير‬

(A blind man) said, ‘O king! With my own eyes I have never seen anything at all. Give
this to me,’ He (The king) said, ‘Ask your God to return his eyesight back.’ They stood
up and Prayed two Cycles of Prayer. Then both his eyes were opened and he looked
towards the sky. He said, ‘O king, amongst us there is another blind one, bring him to
us. They prostrated prostrations, then he raised his head. The other blind one (also)
became a seeing one.

‫ و‬،‫ فإذا المقعد قد أطلقت رجاله‬،‫ و دعوا هللا‬،‫ فصليا‬،‫ فقال لهما مثل ذلك‬،‫ فأتي به‬،‫ علي بمقعد‬،‫ حجة بحجة‬،‫ أيها الملك‬:‫فقال‬
‫ قد أتيا‬،‫ أيها الملك‬:‫ فقال‬،‫ فانطلق المقعد‬،‫ فصنع به كما صنع أول مرة‬،‫ فأتي به‬،‫ علي بمقعد آخر‬،‫ أيها الملك‬:‫ فقال‬.‫قام يمشي‬
‫ بلغني أنه كان‬،‫ أيها الملك‬:‫ ثم قال‬،‫ فإن هما فعاله دخلت معهما في دينهما‬،‫ و لكن بقي شيء واحد‬،‫بحجتين و أتينا بمثله‬
.‫ و أنا أيضا معك‬:‫ فقال له الملك‬،‫ فإن أحياه إلههما دخلت معهما في دينهما‬،‫ و مات‬،‫للملك ابن واحد‬

He said, ‘O king! Proof upon proof. Among us there is a lame person, bring him to me.’
He said to them both similarly. They Prayed, and supplicated to Allah azwj. Then the
lame person stood up on his legs, and stood upright and was walking. He said, ‘O
king, with us there is another lame person, bring him to me.’ He was (also) made to be
upright just like the first time. He (The third one) said, ‘O king, we have been given two
proofs, and given us the like of these, but there remains one thing, if these two do this
act, I shall enter with these two in their religion.’ Then said, ‘O king! They tell me, the
king had a son, and he died, if their God can make him to be alive, I shall enter with
these two in their religion.’ The king said to them both, ‘And I am also in agreement
with you on this.’

‫ و أطاال‬،‫ فوقعا إلى األرض ساجدين هلل‬.‫ فادعوا إلهكما ليحييه‬،‫ قد مات ابن الملك‬:‫ قد بقيت هذه الخصلة الواحدة‬:‫ثم قال لهما‬
،‫ فخرج الناس ينظرون‬:‫ قال‬،‫ إن شاء هللا‬،‫ ابعث إلى قبر ابنك تجده قد قام من قبره‬:‫ و قاال للملك‬،‫ ثم رفع ا رأسيهما‬،‫السجود‬
.‫فوجدوه قد خرج من قبره ينفض رأسه من التراب‬

Then said to them both, ‘This one characteristic remains. The son of the king has died.
Call on to your God to Bring him back to life.’ They fell on the ground prostrating to
Allahazwj, and prolonged the prostrations. Then they both raised their heads, and said
to the king, ‘Go to the grave of your son, you shall find him to have been raised from
his grave, if Allahazwj so Desires.’ The Imamasws said: ‘The people went out to see.
They found him to have come out of his grave shaking his head from the dust.’

‫ كنت ميتا فرأيت رجلين بين يدي ربي الساعة‬:‫ يا بني؟ قال‬،‫ ما حالك‬:‫ فقال له‬،‫ فعرف أنه ابنه‬،‫ فأتي به إلى الملك‬:‫قال‬
.‫ نعم‬:‫ يا بني تعرفهما إذا رأيتهما؟ قال‬:‫ قال‬.‫ فأحياني‬،‫ساجدين يسأالنه أن يحييني‬

They said, ‘Bring him to the king so that he may recognise him as his son. He (the
king) said to him, ‘What is your condition O my son?’ He said, ‘I was dead. I saw two
men in the presence of my Lordazwj just now, prostrating and asking Himazwj to Make
me to be alive. Allahazwj Made me to be alive again.’ He said, ‘O my son, will you
recognise them if you were to see them both?’ He said, ‘Yes.’

‫ ثم مروا عليه‬.‫ ال‬،‫ ال‬:‫ فيقول‬.‫ انظر‬:‫ فيقول له أبوه‬،‫ فكان يمر عليه رجل رجل‬،‫ فأخرج الناس جملة إلى الصحراء‬:‫قال‬
‫ و‬:‫ فقال‬،‫ حتى رأى صاحبه اآلخر‬،‫ ثم مروا أيضا بقوم كثير‬،‫ و أشار بيده إليه‬.‫ هذا أحدهما‬:‫ فقال‬،‫بأحدهما بعد جمع كثير‬
.‫هذا اآلخر‬

The Imamasws said: ‘All the people went out to the desert. He was going past man by
man. They said to him, ‘Is this the one? Look.’ He kept saying, ‘No. No.’ Then he
passed by one of them after a lot of people. He said, ‘This is one of them.’ And pointed
by his hand towards him. Then passed a lot of people again until he saw his other
companion.’ He said, ‘And this is the other one.’

‫ و أنا أيضا آمنت‬:‫ فقال الملك‬:‫ قال‬.‫ و علمت أن ما جئتما به هو الحق‬،‫ أما أنا فقد آمنت بإلهكما‬:‫فقال النبي صاحب الرجلين‬
.»‫ و آمن أهل مملكته كلهم‬.‫بإلهكما‬

So the Prophetas, the companion of the first two said: ‘And I am a believer in your
Godazwj, and know that I know that whatever you two have come with, it is the Truth.’
The Imamasws said: ‘So the king said, ‘And I, as well, express belief in your Godazwj.’
And all the citizens of the kingdom expressed belief.26

Verse 55

)33( ‫إن أصحب الجنة اليوم في شغل فكهون‬

[36:55] Surely, the dwellers of the Paradise shall on that day be in a joyful
occupation

.‫[ الثعلبي ] قال الثمالي يعني في شغل عن أهل النار وعملهم فيه ال يهمهم أمرهم وال يذكرونهم‬

Al Sa’alby – Al Sumaly said,

‘Meaning that they would be too busy from the people of the Fire and their works in it,
they would neither be thinking of their affair nor remembering them’.27

‫سورة الصافات‬

SURAH AL-SAAFAAT
Verses 180 to 182

)814( ‫) والحمد هلل رب العلمين‬818( ‫) وسلم على المرسلين‬811( ‫سبحن ربك رب العزة عما يصفون‬

[37:180] Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from what they are
describing [37:181] And peace be on the Rasools [37:182] And the Praise is due
to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds

Al Sa’alby – Ibn Fanjawiya informed me, from Ahmad Bin Ja’far Bin Hamdan, from Ibrahim Bin
Sahlawiya, from Ali Bin Muhammad Al Tanafasy, from Waki’e, from Sabit Bin Abu Safiya, from Al
Asbagh Bin Nabata,

Imam Aliasws has said: ‘The one who would like his light-weight (deeds) to be fully
appreciated in Recompense on the Day of Judgement, so he should say as the last of
his speech from his sitting [37:180] Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honour,
from what they are describing [37:181] And peace be on the Rasools [37:182]
And the Praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds’.28

‫سورة ص‬

SURAH SAAD
Verses 34 to 36

‫) قال رب اغفر لى وهب لى ملكا ال ينبغى الحد من بعدى إنك أنت‬04( ‫ولقد فتنا سليمن وألقينا على كرسيه جسدا ثم أناب‬
)06( ‫) فسخرنا له الريح تجرى بأمره رخاء حيث أصاب‬03( ‫الوهاب‬

[38:34] And We tried Sulaiman, and We Placed upon his throne a body, so he
repented [38:35] He said: Lord! Forgive me and Grant me a kingdom which is
not fit for (being inherited by) anyone after me, Surely, You are the Bestower
[38:36] Then We Made the wind to be subservient to him; flowing gently by his
command to wherever he so desired

‫ خرج سليمان بن داود من بيت المقدس ومعه ثالثمائة ألف كرسي عن يمينه عليها اإلنس‬:‫أمير ا لمؤمنين (عليه السالم) قال‬
‫وثالثمائة ألف كرسي عن يساره عليها الجن وأمر الطير فأظلتهم وأمر الريح فحملتهم حتى ورد إيوان كسرى في المدائن ثم‬
،)‫رجع فبات فاضطجع ثم غدا فانتهى إلى مدينة تركاوان (بركاوان‬

In the Tafseer of Ali Bin Ibrahim, said, ‘My father narrated to me, from Abu Baseer, from Aban, from
Abu Hamza, from Al Asbagh Bin Nabata,

Amir Al-Momineenasws has said: ‘Suleymanas Bin Dawoodas went out from Bayt Al-
Maqdas and with himsaww were three hundred thousand chairs on hisas right upon
which were the human beings, and three hundred thousand chairs on his as left upon
which were the Jinn, and heas ordered the birds to shade them, and ordered the wind
so it carried them until they arrived at the broken palace in Al-Mada’in, then returned.
So they slept. Then in the morning they ended up to the city Tarkawaan (Barkawaan).

‫ هل رأيتم ملكا قط‬:‫ثم أمر الريح فحملتهم حتى كادت أقدامهم يصيبها الماء وسليمان على عمود منها فقال بعضهم لبعض‬
‫ فنادى ملك من السماء ثواب تسبيحة واحدة في هللا أعظم مما‬،‫أعظم من هذا وسمعتم به فقالوا ما رأينا وال سمعنا بمثله‬

The heas ordered the wind, so it carried them until their feet hit the water, and
Suleymanasws was upon a column from it, so some of them said to the others, ‘Have
you ever seen a king at all greater than this, and heard of him’. So they said, ‘We have
neither seen nor heard the like of himas’. So an Angel called out from the sky, ‘The

Reward of one Glorification for the Sake of Allahazwj is greater than what you are
seeing’.29

Verses 67 & 68

)68( ‫) أنتم عنه معرضون‬65( ‫قل هو نبؤا عظيم‬

[38:67] Say: It is a Magnificent News [38:68] (And) you are turning aside from it

‫ عن أبي‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬،‫ عن محمد بن الفضيل‬،‫ عن ابن أبي عمير وغيره‬،‫[ الصفار القمي ] حدثنا أحمد بن محمد‬
.‫ هو وهللا أمير المؤمنين‬:‫ * (قل هو نبؤا عظيم أنتم عنه معرضون) * قال‬:‫ قلت له‬:‫جعفر (عليه السالم) قال‬

Al Saffar Al Qummy – Ahmad Bin Muhammad narrated to us, from Ibn Abu Umeyr and others, from
Muhammad Bin Al Fazeyl, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly,

(The narrator says) ‘I said to Abu Ja’farasws, ‘[38:67] Say: It is a Magnificent News
[38:68] (And) you are turning aside from it. Imamasws said: ‘By Allahazwj! It
(Magnificent News) is Amir Al-Momineenasws’.30

‫سورة الزمر‬

SURAH AL-ZUMAR
Verse 9

)9( ‫قل هل يستوى الذين يعلمون والذين ال يعلمون إنما يتذكر أولوا االلبب‬

[39:9] Say: Are those who know and those who do not know alike? But rather, it
is the people of understanding who are mindful

‫ عن أبي بصير عنه (عليه السالم) في قول هللا‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة‬،‫ عن علي بن الحكم‬،‫[ الصفار القمي ] حدثنا أحمد بن محمد‬
‫ نحن الذين نعلم‬:‫ * (قل هل يستوى الذين يعلمون والذين ال يعلمون إنما يتذكر أولوا االلبب) * قال أبو جعفر الباقر‬:‫تعالى‬
.‫وعدونا الذين ال يعلمون وشيعتنا أولو األلباب‬

Al Saffar Al Qummy – Ahmad Bin Muhammad narrated to us, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Abu Hamza,
from Abu Baseer,

(It has been narrated) from the Imamasws regarding the Words of Allahazwj the High
[39:9] Say: Are those who know and those who do not know alike? But rather, it
is the people of understanding who are mindful. Abu Ja’far Al-Baqirasws said:
‘Weasws are the ones who know, and ourasws enemies are those who do not know, and
ourasws Shias are the people of understanding’.31

[39:13] Say: If I disobey my Lord, I fear the Punishment of a Momentous Day

‫ * (ليغفر لك هللا ما تقدم من ذنبك وما تأخر) * فكانت‬:‫ هذه اآلية منسوخة بقوله تعالى‬:‫[ القرطبي ] قال أبو حمزة الثمالي‬
.)‫هذه اآلية من قبل أن يغفر ذنب النبي (صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬

Al-Qurtuby – Abu Hamza Al Sumaly said,

‘This Verse has been Abrogated by the Words of the High [48:2] That Allah may
Forgive you what has preceded from your sins and what is to follow. So this
Verse was before Heazwj Forgave the sins of the (people of) Prophetsaww’s (nation).32

(Please see Ahadeeth regarding this Verse (48:2) in the appendix which explains
better the meanings)

Verse 22

)44( ....‫أفمن شرح هللا صدره لالسلم فهو على نور من ربه‬

[39:22] Indeed! So the one whose heart Allah has Expanded for Islam, he is
upon a Light from his Lord . . .

.‫ بلغنا انها نزلت في عمار بن ياسر‬:‫[ الثعلبي ] قال الثمالي‬

Al Sa’alby – Al Sumaly said,

‘It has reached us that it was revealed regarding Amaar Bin Yaasar’.33

Verse 53

)30( ‫قل يعبادى الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم ال تقنطوا من رحمة هللا إن هللا يغفر الذنوب جميعا إنه هو الغفور الرحيم‬

[39:53] Say: O my servants who have acted extravagantly against their own
souls, do not despair of the Mercy of Allah; surely Allah Forgives the faults
altogether; surely He is the Forgiving the Merciful

Al Sadouq – My father narrated to us, from Muhammad Bin Yahya Al Ataar, from Al Husayn Bin Is’haq
Al Tajir, from Ali Bin Mahziyar, from Al Hassan Bin Saeed, from Muhammad Bin Al Fazeyl, from Al
Sumaly,

Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘No one would be excused on the Day of Judgement by
saying, ‘O Lordazwj! I did not know that the sonsasws of Syeda Fatimaasws, theyasws were
the Guardian upon all the people’. And it was regarding the Shias of the sonsasws of

Syeda Fatimaasws in particular that Allahazwj Revealed this Verse [39:53] Say: O my

)63( ‫لئن أشركت ليحبطن عملك ولتكونن من الخسرين‬

[39:65] If you associate, your deeds would be confiscated and you would end up
being from the losers

In Tafseer of Ali Bin Ibrahim, said, ‘Ja’far Bin Ahmad narrated to us, from Abdul Kareem Bin Abdul
Raheem, from Muhammad Bin Ali, from Muhammad Bin Al Fazeyl, from Abu Hamza,

(The narrator) said, ‘I asked Abu Ja’farasws about the Words of Allahazwj to Hisazwj
Prophetsaww [39:65] If you associate, your deeds would be confiscated and you
would end up being from the losers. The Imamasws said: ‘It’s interpretation is ‘If
yousaww were to order with the Wilayah of anyone with the Wilayah of Ali asws from after
yousaww, your deeds would be confiscated and you would end up being from the
losers’.35

‫سورة المؤمن‬

SURAH AL-MOMIN
.‫ انما سميت بذلك من أجل حزبيل مؤمن آل فرعون‬:‫[ الثعلبي ] قال الثمالي‬

Al Sa’alby – Al Sumaly said,

‘But rather, it (this Chapter) has been Named with that from Hizbeel (Hizkeel), a
Believer from the people of the Pharaohla’.36

Verse 11

)88( ‫قالوا ربنا أمتنا اثنتين وأحييتنا اثنتين فاعترفنا بذنوبنا فهل إلى خروج من سبيل‬

[40:11] They shall say: Our Lord! You Made us to die twice, and twice have You
Given us life, so we do confess our faults; is there then a way out?

‫ عن علي بن حسين وأبي جعفر و أبي الحسين زيد‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة‬،‫ حدثنا حصين‬:‫ وباالسناد ] قال‬:‫[ يحيى الشجري ] [ قال‬

Yahya Al Shajary said, ‘And by the chain, Haseyn narrated to us, from Abu Hamza,

(It has been narrated) from Aliasws Bin Husaynasws, and Abu Ja’farasws and Abu Al-
Husayn Zayd son of Aliasws - [40:11] They shall say: Our Lord! You Made us to die
twice, and twice have You Given us life. Theyasws said: ‘Revived them in the graves
and Caused them to die’.

.* )‫ * (كنتم أموتا فأحيكم ثم يميتكم ثم يحييكم‬:‫ وهي كقوله‬:)‫قال زيد بن علي (عليهما السالم‬

Zayd son of Aliasws said, ‘And it is like Hisazwj Words [2:28] and you were dead so He
Revived you? Then He will Cause you to die and then bring you to life’.37

Verse 51

)38( ‫إنا لننصر رسلنا والذين ءامنوا في الحيوة الدنيا ويوم يقوم االشهد‬

[40:51] Most surely We Help Our Rasools, and those who believe, in the life of
the world and on the Day when the witnesses shall stand

‫ حدثني أبو عبد هللا‬:‫ قال‬،‫ أخبرنا أحمد بن محمد بن السري‬:‫ قال‬،‫[ محمد الشجري ] أخبرنا زيد بن جعفر بن حاجب‬
‫ حدثني الحسين بن‬:‫ قال‬،‫ حدثني أبي‬:‫ قال‬،‫ أخبرنا سعيد بن مالك بن عبد هللا‬:‫ قال‬،‫ حدثني عبد هللا بن إسحاق‬:‫ قال‬،‫الطبري‬
‫ * (إنا لننصر رسلنا والذين ءامنوا في الحيوة الدنيا ويوم يقوم‬:‫ عن أبي جعفر أنه تال هذه اآلية‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة‬،‫علوان‬
‫ فابشروا‬،‫ ووهللا إن بكاكم عليه وحديثكم بما جرى عليه وزيارتكم قبره نصرة لكم في الدنيا‬،‫االشهد) * الحسين بن علي منهم‬
.)‫فانكم معه في جوار رسول هللا (صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬

Muhammad Al Shajary – Zayd Bin Ja’far Bin Hajib informed us, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Al
Sariy, from Abu Abdullah Al Tabary, from Abdullah Bin Is’haq, from Saeed Bin Abdullah, from his father,
from Al Husayn Bin Alwan, from Abu Hamza,

Abu Ja’farasws having recited this Verse [40:51] Most surely We Help Our Rasools,
and those who believe, in the life of the world and on the Day when the
witnesses shall stand, said: ‘Al-Husaynasws being among them. And, by Allahazwj!
Your crying over himasws, and your discussing with what flowed upon him asws, and your
visitations to hisasws (Holy) grave, is helpful to you in the world. Therefore, receive
good news, for you all to be with himasws in the neighbourhood of Rasool-Allahsaww’.38

‫سورة فصلت‬

SURAH FUSSILAT
Verses 6 & 7

)5( ‫) الذين ال يؤتون الزكوة وهم باالخرة هم كفرون‬6( ‫وويل للمشركين‬

[41:6] and woe to the Polytheists; [41:7] Those who do not give the Zakat and of
the Hereafter, they are deniers

Ibn Kaseer – Abu Bakr Bin Ayash said, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, from Akrama

(It has been narrated) regarding the Words of the High [41:6] and woe to the
Polytheists; [41:7] Those who do not give the Zakat, said, ‘They are not saying,
‘There is no god except for Allahazwj’.39

Verse 30

)01( ‫إن الذين قالوا ربنا هللا ثم استقموا تتنزل عليهم المالئكة أال تخافوا وال تحزنوا وأبشروا بالجنة التى كنتم توعدون‬

[41:30] (As for) those who say: Our Lord is Allah, then are steadfast, the Angels
descend upon them, saying: Fear not, nor be grieved, and receive good news of
the Paradise, which you were Promised

Ibn Kaseer – Abu Bakr Bin Ayash said, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, from Akrama

regarding Hisazwj Words [41:30] (As for) those who say: Our Lord is Allah, then are
steadfast – upon the testimony that there is God except for Allah azwj’.40

.‫ تستقبلهم المالئكة إذا خرجوا من قبورهم في الموقف بالبشارة من هللا‬:‫[ الفضل الطبرسي ] عن ثابت‬

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy, from Sabit,

‘The Angels would be welcoming them when they would be coming out from their
graves in the Pausing Station with the Good News from Allahazwj’.41

‫سورة الشورى‬

SURAH AL-SHOURA
Verses 23 to 26

‫) أم يقولون‬40( ‫قل ال أسئلكم عليه أجرا إال المودة في القربى ومن يقترف حسنة نزد له فيها حسنا إن هللا غفور شكور‬
)44( ‫افترى على هللا كذبا فإن يشإ هللا يختم على قلبك ويمح هللا البطل ويحق الحق بكلمته إنه عليم بذات الصدور‬

[42:23] Say: I do not ask of you any Recompense for it except for the cordiality
for my near relatives; and whoever earns good, We Give him more of good
therein; surely Allah is Forgiving, Grateful [42:24] Or are they saying: He has
forged a lie against Allah? But if Allah Desired, He would Seal your heart; and

Allah will Wipe out the falsehood and confirm the Truth with His words; surely
He is Aware of what is in the chests.

‫) ويستجيب الذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت‬43( ‫وهو الذى يقبل التوبة عن عباده ويعفوا عن السيات ويعلم ما تفعلون‬
)46( ‫ويزيدهم من فضله والكفرون لهم عذاب شديد‬

[42:25] And He is the one Who Accepts repentance from His servants and
Pardons the evil deeds and He knows what you do [42:26] And He Answers
those who believe and do righteous deeds, and Gives them more out of His
Grace; and (as for) the unbelievers, they shall have a severe Punishment

.)‫ إن اقتراف الحسنة المودة آلل محمد (صلى هللا عليه وآله‬:‫[ الفضل الطبرسي ] ذكر أبو حمزة الثمالي عن السدي قال‬

Al Fazal Tabarsy mentioned Abu Hamza in his Tafseer, from Al Sady who said,

‘The earning of the good is the cordiality for the Progenyasws of Muhammadsaww’.42

‫ حدثني عثمان بن عمير عن سعيد بن جبير عن عبد هللا بن عباس ان‬:‫[ الفضل الطبرسي ] ذكر أبو حمزة الثمالي في تفسيره‬
‫ نأتي رسول هللا (صلى هللا عليه‬:‫رسول هللا (صلى هللا عليه وآله) حين قدم المدينة واستحكم اإلسالم قالت األنصار فيما بينها‬
‫وآله) فنقول له إن تعرك امور فهذه أموالنا تحكم فيها من غير حرج وال محظور عليك فأتوه في ذلك فنزلت * (قل ال أسئلكم‬
* )‫عليه أجرا إال المودة في القربى‬

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy mentioned Abu Hamza Al Sumaly in this Tafseer saying, ‘Usman Biin Umeyr
narrated to me, from Saeed Bin Jubeyr, from Abdullah Bin Abbas that,

‘Rasool-Allahsaww, when hesaww proceeded to Al-Medina and Al-Islam became strong,


the Helpers said regarding what was in between them, ‘We should go to Rasool-
Allahsaww and say to himsaww ‘You have fought for these affairs, so here is our wealth,
yousaww judge with regards to this without any fault or hindrance to yousaww (i.e., take
whatever yousaww want)’. So they came to himsaww with regards to that, thus [42:23]
Say: I do not ask of you any Recompense for it except for the cordiality for my
near relatives was revealed’.

‫ إن هذا لشئ افتراه في مجلسه‬:‫ فقال المنافقون‬،‫ تودون قرابتي من بعدي فخرجوا من عنده مسلمين لقوله‬:‫فقرأها عليهم وقال‬
* )‫أراد بذلك أن يذللنا لقرابته من بعده فنزلت * (أم يقولون افترى على هللا كذبا‬

So Rasool-Allahsaww recited it to them and said: ‘Be cordial to mysaww near relatives
from after mesaww’. So they went out from himsaww having submitted to hissaww words.
So the hypocrites said, ‘This is something which has been forged in his saww gathering
intending by that to hesaww would humiliate us (in favour of) hissaww near relatives from
after himsaww’. Thus it was Revealed [42:24] Or are they saying: He has forged a lie
against Allah?

‫ فأرسل في أثرهم‬،‫فأرسل إليهم فتالها عليهم فبكوا واشتد عليهم فأنزل هللا * (وهو الذى يقبل التوبة عن عباده) * اآلية‬
.‫ * (ويستجيب الذين ءامنوا) * وهم الذين سلموا لقوله‬:‫فبشرهم وقال‬

So Rasool-Allahsaww sent for them, and recited it to them. So they cried intensely to
Rasool-Allahsaww, and so Allahazwj Revealed [42:25] And He it is Who Accepts
repentance from His servants – the Verse. So Rasool-Allahsaww sent a message

after them and gave them the good news and said [42:26] And He Answers those
who believe and they were the ones who submitted to Rasool-Allahsaww‘s words’.43

Verse 30

)01( ‫وما أصبكم من مصيبة فبما كسبت أيديكم ويعفوا عن كثير‬

[42:30] And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands
have wrought, and (yet) He Pardons most (of your faults)

‫ ألحدثنكم بحديث يحق على‬:)‫ قال علي (عليه السالم‬:‫ عن أبي إسحاق قال‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة‬،‫[ األهوازي ] الحسن بن محبوب‬
‫ هو حق‬:‫ الحديث الذي حدثتنا به غداة نسيناه وقلت‬:‫ فرجعنا إليه فقلنا له‬:‫كل مؤمن أن يعيه فحدثنا به غداة ونسيناه عشية قال‬
‫ انه ما من مسلم يذنب ذنبا فيعفو هللا عنه في الدنيا إال كان أجل وأكرم من أن يعود‬:‫ فقال‬،‫على كل مؤمن أن يعيه فأعده علينا‬
.* )‫ * (وما أصبكم من مصيبة فبما كسبت أيديكم ويعفوا عن كثير‬:‫عليه بعقوبة في اآلخرة وقد أجله في الدنيا وتال هذه اآلية‬

Al Ahwazy - Al Hassan Bin Mahboub, from Abu Hamza, from Abu Is’haq who said,

‘Aliasws said: ‘Iasws shall narrate to you with a Hadeeth which is a right upon every
Believer that he should be aware of it’. So he asws narrated it in the morning and we
forgot it in the evening. So we returned to him asws and said to himasws, ‘The Hadeeth
which youasws narrated to us in the morning, we forgot it, and youasws said that was a
right upon every Believer that he should be aware of it, so repeat it to us’. So Imamasws
said: ‘There is none from a Muslim who commits a sin, so Allah azwj Forgives him in the
world unless that its term (was adjourned) and nobler than its Punishment should be
returned to him in the Hereafter, and its adjournment had been in the world’. And
Imamasws recited this Verse [42:30] And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on
account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He Pardons most (of your
faults)’.44

‫ عن أبي حمزة عن األصبغ‬،‫ عن منصور بن يونس‬،‫ عن ابن أبي عمير‬،‫ ] حدثني أبي‬:‫[ في تفسير علي بن إبراهيم ] [ قال‬
‫ ثم أقبل علينا‬،‫ إني احدثكم بحديث ينبغي لكل مسلم أن يعيه‬:‫ سمعته يقول‬:‫ عن أمير المؤمنين (عليه السالم) قال‬،‫بن نباتة‬
‫ ما عاقب هللا عبدا مؤمنا في هذه الدنيا إال كان هللا أحلم وأمجد وأجود من أن يعود في عقابه يوم القيامة وما ستر هللا‬:‫فقال‬
‫ ثم قال (عليه‬،‫على عبد مؤمن في هذه الدنيا وعفا عنه إال كان هللا أمجد وأجود وأكرم من أن يعود في عقوبته يوم القيامة‬
‫ وقد يبتلي هللا المؤمن بالبلية في بدنه أو ماله أو ولده أو أهله ثم تال هذه اآلية * (وما أصبكم من مصيبة فبما كسبت‬:)‫السالم‬
.‫أيديكم ويعفوا عن كثير) * وحثى بيده ثالث مرات‬

In Tafseer of Ali Bin Ibrahim, said, ‘My father narrated to me, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Mansour Bin
Yunus, from Abu Hamza, from Al Asbagh Bin Nabata,

(The narrator) said, ‘I heard Amir Al-Momineenasws saying: ‘Iasws shall narrated to you
with a Hadeeth, it is befitting for every Muslim that he should be aware of it’. Then
heasws faced towards us, so heasws said: ‘Allahazwj does not Punish a Believing servant
in this world unless that Allahazwj was more Forbearing, and more Glorious, and more
Benevolent than that Heazwj would Return its Punishment on the Day of Judgement’.
Then Imamasws said: ‘Allahazwj had Tested the Believer with the affliction in his body, or
his wealth, or his children, or his family’. Then Imamasws recited this Verse [42:30] And
whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have

wrought, and (yet) He Pardons most (of your faults)’ – and heasws actuated with
hisasws hands, three times’.45

Verses 41 & 42

‫) إنما السبيل على الذين يظلمون الناس ويبغون في االرض بغير‬48( ‫ولمن انتصر بعد ظلمه فأولئك ما عليهم من سبيل‬
)44( ‫الحق أولئك لهم عذاب أليم‬

[42:41] And whoever overcomes after his being oppressed, these it is against
whom there is no way (to blame). [42:42] The way (to blame) is only against
those who oppress men and rebel without the right, these shall have a painful
punishment

‫ عن‬،‫ عن محمد بن علي‬،‫ حدثنا عبد الكريم بن عبد الرحيم‬:‫ ] حدثنا جعفر بن أحمد قال‬:‫[ في تفسير علي بن إبراهيم ] [ قال‬

‫يعني القائم (عليه السالم) وأصحابه * (فأولئك ما عليهم من سبيل) * والقائم إذا قام انتصر من بني امية ومن المكذبين‬
‫ * (إنما السبيل على الذين يظلمون الناس ويبغون في االرض بغير الحق أولئك لهم‬:‫والنصاب هو وأصحابه وهو قول هللا‬

In Tafseer of Ali Bin Ibrahim, said, ‘Ja’far Bin Ahmad narrated to us, from Abdul Kareem Bin Abdul
Raheem, from Muhammad Bin Ali, from Muhammad Bin Al Fazeyl, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly,

(The narrator) said, ‘I heard Abu Ja’farasws saying: ‘[42:41] And whoever overcomes
after his being oppressed Meaning Al-Qaimasws and hisasws companions these it is
against whom there is no way (to blame). And Al-Qaimasws, when heasws rises,
would overcome ones from the Clan of Umayya, and from the liars and the Hostile
ones (Nasibis), himasws and hisasws companions. And these are the Words of Allah azwj
[42:42] The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and rebel
without the right, these shall have a painful punishment’.46

Verse 52

‫وكذلك أوحينا إليك روحا من أمرنا ما كنت تدرى ما الكتب وال االيمن ولكن جعلنه نورا نهدى به من نشاء من عبادنا‬
)34( ‫وإنك لتهدى إلى صرط مستقيم‬

[42:52] And thus We Revealed to you a Spirit from Our Command. You did not
know what the Book was, nor the belief, but We Made it a Light, Guiding thereby
whom We Desire to of Our servants; and most surely you show the way to the
Straight Path

‫ عن‬،‫ عن محمد بن الفضيل‬،‫ عن علي بن اسباط‬،‫ عن موسى بن جعفر‬،‫ عن عمران بن موسى‬،‫[ الكليني ] محمد بن يحيى‬

‘I asked Abu Abdullahasws about the Knowledge, is it a knowledge which the


Knowledgeable oneasws learns from the mouths of the men, or is it in the Book in
yourasws possession, youasws are reading from it, so youasws are learning from it?’ The
Imamasws said: ‘The matter is greater than that and more Obligatory. Have you not
heard the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic [42:52] And thus We Revealed to
you a Spirit from Our Command. You did not know what the Book was, nor the
belief?

- ‫ ال أدري‬:‫ أيقرون أنه كان في حال ال يدري ما الكتاب وال االيمان ؟ فقلت‬،‫ أي شئ يقول أصحابكم في هذه اآلية‬:‫ثم قال‬
،‫ ما يقولون‬- ‫جعلت فداك‬

Then heasws said: ‘Which thing are your companions saying regarding this Verse, are
they accepting that hesaww was in a state in which heasws did not know what the Book
and the Imaan was?’ So I said, ‘I do not know - may I be sacrificed for youasws - what
they are saying’.

‫ فلما أوحاها‬،‫ بلى قد كان في حال ال يدري ما الكتاب وال االيمان حتى بعث هللا تعالى الروح التي ذكر في الكتاب‬:‫فقال لي‬
.‫ فإذا أعطاها عبدا علمه الفهم‬،‫ وهي الروح التي يعطيها هللا تعالى من يشاء‬،‫إليه علم بها العلم والفهم‬

So Imamasws said to me: ‘Yes, hesaww was in a state in which hesaww did not know what
the Book and the Imaan was, until Allahazwj the High Sent the Spirit which has been
Mentioned in the Book. So when Heazwj Revealed unto it to himsaww, hesaww knew by it,
the Knowledge and the understanding, and it is the Spirit which Allah azwj Gives it to
whoever Heazwj so Desires to. So it Grants a servant his knowledge and the
understanding’.47

‫سورة الزخرف‬

Surah Al-Zukhruf
Verse 28

)41( ‫وجعلها كلمة باقية في عقبه‬

[43:28] And He Made it a Word to continue in his posterity that they may return.

‫ حدثنا القاسم‬:‫ حدثنا محمد بن يعقوب الكليني قال‬:‫[ الصدوق ] حدثنا محمد بن محمد بن عصام الكليني (رضي هللا عنه) قال‬
‫ عن محمد بن‬،‫ عن عاصم بن حميد الحناط‬،‫ حدثني علي بن إسماعيل‬:‫ حدثنا إسماعيل بن علي القزويني قال‬:‫بن العالء قال‬
‫ * (وجعلها‬:‫ فينا نزلت هذه اآلية‬:‫ عن علي بن الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب (عليهم السالم) انه قال‬،‫ عن ثابت الثمالي‬،‫قيس‬
‫ وان للقائم منا‬.‫كلمة باقية في عقبه) * واألمامة في عقب الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب (عليهما السالم) إلى يوم القيامة‬
‫ وأما االخرى فيطول أمدها حتى‬.‫ أو ستة سنين‬،‫ أو ستة أشهر‬،‫ أما االولى فستة أيام‬،‫غيبتين أحدهما أطول من االخرى‬
،‫يرجع عن هذا األمر أكثر من يقول به فال يثبت عليه إال من قوى يقينه وصحت معرفته ولم يجد في نفسه حرجا مما قضينا‬
.‫وسلم لنا أهل البيت‬

Yaqoub Al Kulayni, from Al Qasim Bin Al A’ala, from Ismail Bin Ali Al Qazwiny, from Ali Bin Ismail, from

(It has been narrated) from Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws Bin Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws
having said: ‘It is with regards to us asws that this Verse was Revealed [43:28] And He
Made it a Word to continue in his posterity that they may return, and the Imamate
would be in the posterity of Al-Husaynasws Bin Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws up to the Day of
Judgement. And for Al-Qaimasws from usasws would have two Occultation, one of the
two being longer than the other. As for the first one, so it could be six days, or six
months, or six years. And as for the other, so its term would be prolonged until most of
those who speak about it would retract from this. Therefore, none would be steadfast
upon it except for the one who is strong in his conviction (belief), and correct in his
understanding, and does not find any embarrassment within himself from what we asws
have decided, and submits to usasws, the Peopleasws of the Household’.48

Verse 41

)48( ‫فإما نذهبن بك فإنا منهم منتقمون‬

[43:41] Even if We Take you away, We shall still Exact Revenge from them

‫ أخبرنا أبو أحمد عبيدهللا بن محمد بن أحمد بن‬،‫[ ابن المغازلي ] أخبرنا أبو طاهر محمد بن علي بن محمد البيع البغدادي‬
،‫ حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن سعيد األحمسي‬،‫ حدثنا أبو العباس أحمد بن محمد بن سعيد المعروف بابن عقدة الحافظ‬،‫أبي مسلم‬
‫ كنت مع علي (عليه‬:‫ عن عامر بن واثلة قال‬،‫ عن أبي إسحاق السبيعي‬،‫ عن أبي ساسان وأبي حمزة‬،‫حدثنا نصر بن مزاحم‬
‫ إلى‬....‫ ألحتجن عليكم بما ال يستطيع عربيكم وال عجميكم يغير ذلك‬:‫ فسمعت عليا يقول لهم‬،‫السالم) في البيت يوم الشورى‬
‫ فأنشدكم باهلل هل فيكم أح د يقاتل الناكثين والقاسطين والمارقين على لسان النبي (صلى هللا عليه وسلم) غيري ؟‬:‫أن قال‬
.‫ اللهم ال‬:‫قالوا‬

Ibn Al Maghazily – Abu Tahir Muhammad Bin Ali Bin Muhammad Al Baya Al Baghdady informed us,
from Abu Ahmad Ubeydullah Bin Muhammad Bin Ahmad Bin Abu Muslim, from Abu Al Abbas Ahmad
Bin Muhammad Bin Saeed Al Marouf Ibn Uqda Al Hafiz, from Ja’far Bin Muhammad Bin Saeed Al
Ahmasy, from Nasr Bin Mazahim, from Abu Sasaan and Abu Hamza, from Abu Is’haq Al Sabi’e, from
Aamir Bin Wasila who said,

‘I was with Aliasws in the house during the day of the consultation, so I heard Ali asws
saying to them: ‘Iasws shall argue against you with what neither your Arab nor your non-
Arab would be able to change that,’ – until heasws said: ‘So Iasws adjure you with
Allahazwj! Is there anyone among you who fought against the breakers (of the
allegiance), and the hypocrites and the apostates, apart from measws?’ They said, ‘O
Allahazwj! No!’49

Verses 43 & 44

)44( ‫) وإنه لذكر لك ولقومك وسوف تسئلون‬40( ‫فاستمسك بالذى أوحى إليك إنك على صرط مستقيم‬

[43:43] Therefore attach yourselves to that which has been Revealed to you;
surely you are on the Straight Path [43:44] And it is a Reminder for you and your
people, and you shall soon be questioned

] :‫ أوحى هللا إلى نبيه * (فاستمسك بالذى أوحى إليك إنك على صرط مستقيم) * قال [ في تأويله‬:‫جعفر (عليه السال م) قال‬
.‫انك على والية علي وعلي هو الصراط المستقيم‬

Al Saffar Al Qummy – Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Al Nazar Bin Suweyd, from Khalid Bin Hamaad
and Muhammad Bin Al Fazeyl, from Al Sumaly,

Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘Allahazwj Revealed unto Hisazwj Prophetsaww [43:43] Therefore
attach yourselves to that which has been Revealed to you; surely you are on the
Straight Path. Imamasws said: ‘Its explanation is that yousaww are upon the Wilayah of
Aliasws and it is Aliasws who is the Straight Path’.50

Verse 45

)43( ‫وسل من أرسلنا من قبلك من رسلنا أجعلنا من دون الرحمن ءالهة يعبدون‬

[43:45] And ask those of Our Rasools whom We Sent before you: Did We ever
Appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent?

‫ عن الحسن بن محبوب عن أبي حمزة ثابت بن دينار الثمالي‬،‫ عن أحمد بن محمد بن خالد‬،‫[ الكليني ] عدة من أصحابنا‬
‫ حججنا مع أبي جعفر (عليه السالم) في السنة التي كان حج فيها هشام بن عبد الملك‬:‫ عن أبي الربيع قال‬،‫وأبو منصور‬
‫وكان معه نافع مولى عمر بن الخطاب فنظر نافع إلى أبي جعفر (عليه السالم) في ركن البيت وقد اجتمع عليه الناس فقال‬
‫ أشهد آلتينه‬:‫ هذا نبي أهل الكوفة هذا محمد بن علي فقال‬:‫ يا أمير المؤمنين من هذا الذي قد تداك عليه الناس فقال‬:‫نافع‬
‫ فاذهب إليه وسله لعلك تخجله‬:‫ قال‬،‫فألسألنه عن مسائل ال يجيبني فيها إال نبي أو ابن نبي أو وصي نبي‬

Al Kulayni – A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Al Hassan Bin
Mahboub, from Abu Hamza Sabit Bin Dinar Al Sumaly and Abu Mansour, from Abu Al Rabi’e who said,

‘We went on Pilgrimage with Abu Ja’farasws in the year in which Hisham Abdul Malik
was performing the Pilgrimage as well, and along with him was Nafa’u, the retainer of
Umar Bin Al-Khattaab. So Nafa’u looked towards Abu Ja’farasws in the corner of the
House and the people had gathered around him’. Nafa’u asked, ‘O commander of the
Faithful, who is this one around whom the people have gathered?’ He said, ‘This is a
Prophet of the people of Al-Kufa. This is Muhammadasws Bin Aliasws’. He said, ‘Be a
witness for I shall ask himasws about certain matters that nobody can answer with
regards to it except for a Prophetas or a sonasws of a Prophetas, or a successorasws of a
Prophetas’. He said, ‘So go ahead and ask himasws, perhaps you can embarrass
himasws’.

‫ يا محمد بن علي إني قرأت التوراة واالنجيل‬:‫فجاء نافع حتى اتكأ على الناس ثم أشرف على أبي جعفر (عليه السالم) فقال‬
،‫والزبور والفرقان وقد عرفت حاللها وحرامها وقد جئت أسألك عن مسائل ال يجيب فيها إال نبي أو وصي نبي أو ابن نبي‬
‫ اخبرني كم بين عيسى وبين محمد (صلى هللا عليه‬:‫ فقال‬،‫ سل عما بدا لك‬:‫ فرفع أبو جعفر (عليه السالم) رأسه فقال‬:‫قال‬
‫ أما قولي فخمسمائة سنة وأما في قولك‬:‫ قال‬،‫ اخبرني بالقولين جميعا‬:‫ اخبرك بقولي أو بقولك ؟ قال‬:‫وآله) من سنة قال‬
.‫فستمائة سنة‬

So Nafa’u came until he leaned upon the people, until he was higher than Abu
Ja’farasws. He said, ‘O Muhammadasws Bin Aliasws! I have read the Torah, and the
Evangel, and the Psalms, and the Furqaan (Quran), and have understood their

Permissibles, and their Prohibitions, and I have come to ask you asws about certain
matters that none can answer with regards to it except for a Prophetas, or a
successorasws of a Prophetas, or sonasws of a Prophetas’. He (the narrator) said, ‘Abu
Ja’farasws raised hisasws head and said; ‘Ask, or shall Iasws begin for you?’ He said,
‘Inform me, how many years were there in between Isa as and Muhammadsaww?’ Heasws
said: ‘Shall Iasws inform you in accordance to your words or to mine asws?’ He said,
‘Inform me in accordance to both together’. He asws said: ‘In accordance to myasws
words, so there were five hundred years, and in accordance to your words there were
six hundred years’.

* )‫ * (وسل من أرسلنا من قبلك من رسلنا أجعلنا من دون الرحمن ءالهة يعبدون‬:‫ فأخبرني عن قول هللا عزوجل لنبيه‬:‫قال‬
‫من الذي سأل محمد (صلى هللا عليه وآله) وكان بينه وبين عيسى خمسمائة سنة ؟‬

He said, ‘So inform me about the Statement of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic to Hisazwj
Prophetsaww: “[43:45] And ask those of Our Rasools whom We sent before you:
Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent Allah?” who
was the one that Muhammadsaww asked since there were five hundred years in
between himsaww and Isaas?’

‫ * (سبحن الذى أسرى بعبده ليال من المسجد الحرام إلى المسجد االقصا الذى‬:‫ فتال أبو جعفر (عليه السالم) هذه اآلية‬:‫قال‬
‫) فكان من اآليات التي أراها هللا تبارك وتعالى محمدا (صلى هللا عليه وآله) حيث أسرى‬1( * )‫بركنا حوله لنريه من ءايتنآ‬
‫به إلى بيت المقدس أن حشر هللا عز ذكره األولين واآلخرين من النبيين والمرسلين ثم أمر جبرئيل (عليه السالم) فأذن شفعا‬
‫وأقام شفعا‬

He (the narrator) said, ‘Abu Ja’farasws recited this Verse: “[17:1] Glory be to Him
Who made His servant to go on a night from the Sacred Mosque to the remote
mosque of which We have blessed the precincts, so that We may show to him
some of Our signs; surely He is the Hearing, the Seeing”, so Allahazwj Blessed and
High Showed to Muhammadsaww certain Signs when Heazwj Made himsaww to travel to
the Bayt Al-Maqdas, was that Allahazwj Mighty is Hisazwj Mention, Resurrected from the
former ones and the later ones, Prophetsas and Rasoolsas, then Commanded
Jibraeelas to Call out the Adhaan and the Iqamah.

‫ على ما‬:‫ ثم تقدم محمد (صلى هللا عليه وآله) فصلى بالقوم فلما انصرف قال لهم‬،‫ حي على خير العمل‬:‫وقال في أذانه‬
،‫ أخذ على ذلك عهودنا ومواثيقنا‬،‫ نشهد ان ال إله إال هللا وحده ال شريك له وانك رسول هللا‬:‫تشهدون وما كنتم تعبدون ؟ قالوا‬

And he recited in his Adhaan “Hurry to the Best of the deeds” (Hayya Ala Khayr Al-
Amal). Then Muhammadsaww proceeded and Prayed with the people. When hesaww had
finished, hesaww asked them: ‘What did you testify to and what did you worship?’ They
replied, ‘We testified that there is no god except Allahazwj, One with no associates to
Himazwj, and that yousaww are the Rasoolsaww of Allahazwj, and it is upon that, that Heazwj
Took a Covenant from us and the Confirmation’.

.‫ صدقت يا أبا جعفر‬:‫فقال نافع‬

So Nafa’u said, ‘Youasws have spoken the truth, O Abu Ja’farasws!51

‫) ادخلوا الجنة أنتم وأزوجكم‬69( ‫) الذين ءامنوا بايتنا وكانوا مسلمين‬61( ‫يعباد ال خوف عليكم اليوم وال أنتم تحزنون‬

[43:68] O servants! There is no fear for you this Day, nor shall you grieve.
[43:69] Those who believed in Our Communications and were submissive:
[43:70] Enter the garden, you and your wives; you shall be delighted

‫ حدثنا أبو‬:‫ قال‬- ‫ يعني ابن علي القطان‬- ‫ حدثني يونس‬:‫ حدثني علي بن محمد الهيري (الزهري) قال‬:‫[ فرات الكوفي ] قال‬
‫ * (يعباد ال خوف‬:‫ إذا كان يوم القيامة نادى مناد‬:‫ عن علي بن الحسين (عليهما السالم) قال‬:‫ عن أبي حمزة‬،‫حفص األعشى‬
‫ * (الذين ءامنوا بايتنا وكانوا مسلمين) * لم‬:‫ إذا قالها لم يبق أحد إال رفع رأسه فإذا قال‬:‫عليكم اليوم وال أنتم تحزنون) * قال‬
‫ هذه فاطمة بنت محمد تمر بكم هي ومن معها إلى الجنة‬:‫ ثم ينادي مناد‬:‫ قال‬.‫يبق أحد إال طأطأ رأسه إال ا لمسلمين المحبين‬
.‫ثم يرسل فطأطؤا رؤوسكم ! فال يبقى أحد إال طأطأ رأسه حتى تمر فاطمة ومن معهاإلى الجنة‬

Furaat Al Kufy said, ‘Ali Bin Muhammad Al Hayri (Al Zuhry) narrated to me, from Yunus – meaning Ibn
Abi Al Qataan – from Abu Hafs Al A’ash, from Abu Hamza,

(It has been narrated) from Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws having said: ‘When it would be
the Day of Judgement, a Caller would Call out [43:68] O servants! There is no fear
for you this Day, nor shall you grieve’. The Imamasws said: ‘When he Calls it, there
would not remain anyone except that he would raise his head. So when he says
[43:69] Those who believed in Our Communications and were submissive, there
would not remain anyone except that he would bow his head to the submissive ones,
the loving ones’. The Imamasws said: ‘Then a Caller would Call out: ‘This is Syeda
Fatimaasws, daughter of Muhammadsaww, passing by you, herasws and the ones with
herasws, to the Paradise, therefore bow down your heads!’ So there would not remain
anyone except that he would bow down his head until Syeda Fatimaasws and the ones
with herasws pass by to the Paradise.

.‫ يا رب حاجتي أن تغفر (لي و) لمن نصر ولدي‬:‫ فتقول‬.‫ يا فاطمة سلي (سليني) حاجتك‬:‫ثم يرسل هللا إليها ملكا فيقول‬

Then Allahazwj would Sent an Angel to herasws, so he would be saying: ‘O Fatimaasws!


Ask me (All of you ask me) yourasws need’. So Syedaasws would be saying: ‘O Lordazwj!
Myasws need is that Youazwj Forgive (for myasws Sake) the ones who helped myasws
sonasws (Al-Husaynasws)’.52

‫سورة الدخان‬

SURAH AL DUKHAAN

Al Sadouq – My father said, ‘Ahmad Bin Idrees narrated to me, from Muhammad Bin Ahmad, from
Muhammad Bin Hasaan, from Ismail Bin Mahran, from Al Hassan, from Aasim Al Hanaat, from Abu
Hamza who said,

‘Abu Ja’farasws said: ‘The one who recites Surah Al-Dukhaan in his obligatory or in his
optional (Salat), Allahazwj would Resurrect him among the secured ones on the Day of
Judgement under Hisazwj Throne, and Reckon him with an easy Reckoning, and Give
him his book (Register of his deeds) in his right hand’.53

‫سورة األحقاف‬

SURAH AL-AHQAAF
Verse 9

)9( ...‫قل ما كنت بدعا من الرسل وما أدرى ما يفعل بى وال بكم‬

[46:9] Say: I am not the first of the Rasools, and I do not know what will be Done
with me or with you . . .

‫ أما في اآلخرة فمعاذ هللا قد علم انه في الجنة حين أخذ ميثاقه في الرسل ولكن قال ما أدري ما يفعل‬:‫[ الثعلبي ] قال الثمالي‬
‫بي وال بكم في الدنيا اخرج كما اخرجت األنبياء من قبلي وال أدري ما يفعل بكم امتي المكذبة أم المصدقة أم أمتي المرقبة‬
‫ ثم أنزل هللا تعالى * (هو الذى أرسل رسوله بالهدى ودين الحق ليظهره‬،‫بالحجارة من السماء قذفا أم مخسوف بها خسفا‬
‫ ثم قال في امته * (وما كان هللا ليعذبهم وأنت فيهم وما‬،‫على الدين كله وكفى باهلل شهيدا) * يقول سيظهر دينكم على األديان‬
.‫كان هللا معذبهم وهم يستغفرون) * فأخبره هللا تعالى ما يصنع به وبامته‬

Al Sa’alby – Al Sumaly said,

‘As for in the Hereafter, so God Forbid, Rasool-Allahsaww knew that hesaww would be in
the Paradise where Heazwj Took hissaww Covenant among the Rasoolsas, but hesaww
said: ‘I do not know what will be Done with me or with you in the world coming out
like the coming out of the Prophetsas from before mesaww, nor do Isaww know what
would be Done with you, mysaww community, the liars or the truthful, or whether mysaww
community would be Pelted with the stones from the sky, or would be submerged (into
the ground) with a submergence. Then Allahazwj the High Revealed [48:28] He is the
One Who Sent His Rasool with the Guidance and the true Religion that He may
Make it to Prevail over all the Religions; and Allah is Sufficient as a Witness.
Heazwj is Saying that Heazwj would Make your Religion to Prevail over all the Religion.
Then Allahazwj Said regarding hissaww community [8:33] But Allah was not going to
Punish them whilst you were among them, nor is Allah going to Punish them
whilst yet they ask for Forgiveness. Thus, Allahazwj the High Informed himsaww would
be Done with himsaww and hissaww community’.54

Verse 24

)44( ‫فلما رأوه عارضا مستقبل أوديتهم قالوا هذا عارض ممطرنا بل هو ما استعجلتم به ريح فيها عذاب أليم‬

[46:24] So when they saw it as a cloud appearing in the sky advancing towards
their valleys, they said: This is a cloud which will give us rain. Nay! it is what
you sought to hasten on, a blast of wind in which is a painful Punishment

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy – Abu Hamza Al Sumaly reported, from Alim,

Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘Allahazwj Blessed and High Sent a wind with locks upon it. Had
they been opened, it would have scattered whatever was in between the sky and the
earth, not having Sent upon the people of Aad except for the measurement of the
ring’.55

Verse 29

)49( ‫وإذ صرفنا إليك نفرا من الجن يستمعون القرءان‬

[46:29] And when We turned towards you a party of the Jinn who listened to the
Quran

‫ وكانوا أكثر الجن عددا وأشرفهم‬،‫ إن هذا الحي من الجن كان يقال لهم بنو الشيصبان‬:‫[ ابن كثير ] ذكر أبو حمزة الثمالي‬
.‫ وهم كانوا عامة جنود إبليس‬،‫نسبا‬

Ibn Kaseer mentioned Abu Hamza Al Sumaly in his Tafseer that –

‘This is the disctrict of the Jinn referred to as the Clan of Shaysabaan, and they were
the most numerous of the Jinn in number, and the nobles of them in lineage, and there
formed the generality of the armies of Ibleesla’.

‫سورة محمد‬

SURAH MUHAMMADsaww
Verse 1 & 2

‫) والذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت وءامنوا بما نزل على محمد وهو‬8( ‫الذين كفروا وصدوا عن سبيل هللا أضل أعملهم‬
)4( ‫الحق من ربهم كفر عنهم سيأتهم وأصلح بالهم‬

[47:1] (As for) those who disbelieve and from Allah's way, He shall Render their
works to be in vain [47:2] And (as for) those who believe and do good, and
believe in what has been revealed to Muhammad, and it is the very truth from
their Lord, He will Remove their evil from them and Improve their condition

Aliasws has said: ‘Surah Muhammadsaww, there is a Verse regarding usasws and a Verse
regarding the Clan of Umayya’.56

Verse 9

[47:9] That is because they hated what Allah Revealed, so He Nullified their
deeds

from Jabir,

(It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’farasws having said in the explanation of the Words
of the High [47:9] That is because they hated what Allah Revealed: ‘i.e., regarding
Aliasws’.57

Verse 33

)00( ‫يأيها الذين ءامنوا أطيعوا هللا وأطيعوا الرسول وال تبطلوا أعملكم‬

[47:33] O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Rasool, and do not make
your deeds to be Nullified

.‫ ال تمنوا على رسول هللا فتبطلوا أعمالكم‬:‫[ الثعلبي ] قال الثمالي‬

Al Sa’alby – Al Sumaly said,

‘Do not wish against Rasool-Allahsaww for you would invalidate your deeds’.58

)‫ وهو خطاب لمن كان يمن على النبي (صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬،‫ * (ال تبطلوا أعمالكم) * بالمن‬:‫[ القرطبي ] قال الثمالي‬
.‫باسالمه‬

Al Qurtuby – Al Sumaly said,

‘[47:33] and do not make your deeds to be Nullified – With the favour, and Heazwj is
Addressing the ones who used to (consider it as a) favour upon the Prophetsaww by
being a Muslim’.59

[48:4] He is One Who Sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the Believers . . .

Al Kulayni – Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from
Abu Hamza,

(The narrator) says, ‘I asked Abu Ja’farasws about the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and
Majestic [48:4] Sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the Believers, Imamasws
said: ‘It is the Eman (Belief)’.60

Verse 26

)46( ...‫فأنزل هللا سكينته على رسوله وعلى المؤمنين وألزمهم كلمة التقوى‬

[48:26] so Allah Sent down His Tranquillity on His Rasool and upon the
Believers, and Necessitated for them the word of piety, and they were entitled to
it and worthy of it; and Allah is Aware of all things.

Yahya Al Shajary – And by the chain, from Abu Hamza,

(It has been narrated from Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws, and from Abu Ja’farasws, and from
Zayd son of Aliasws - [48:26] the word of piety – said: ‘The Oneness (Tawheed)’.61

Verse 29

)49( ...‫محمد رسول هللا والذين معه أشداء على الكفار رحماء بينهم‬

[48:29] Muhammad is Rasool-Allah, and those with him are firm of heart against
the unbelievers, compassionate among themselves

‫ المؤمن‬:‫ قال‬،)‫ عن أبي جعفر (عليه السالم‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬،‫ عن محمد بن الفضيل‬،‫[ البرقي ] عن محمد بن علي‬
‫ * (رحماء بينهم) * فهل يكون‬:‫ ثم تال‬،‫ ألن هللا خلق طينتهما من سبع سماوات وهي من طينة الجنان‬،‫أخو المؤم ن ألبيه وامه‬
.‫الرحم إال برا وصوال ؟‬

among themselves, so can the compassion occur except by goodness and
maintaining relationships?’62

Al Barqy – From Muhammad Bin Ali, from Muhammad Bin Al Fazeyl, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly,

Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘Allahazwj Blessed and High Caused to flow within the Believer
from a wind, a Spirit of Allahazwj, and Allahazwj Blessed and High is Saying [48:29]
compassionate among themselves’.63

Verse 29

)49( ...‫سيماهم في وجوههم من أثر السجود‬

[48:29] their marks are in their faces because of the effect of prostrations . . .

Ibn Kaseer – Abu Bakr Bin Ayaash said, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, from Akrama

(It has been narrated) regarding the Words of the High [48:29] their marks are in
their faces – said, ‘The vigil’.64

SURAH AL-HUJURAAT

‫) ولو أنهم صبروا حتى تخرج إليهم لكان خيرا لهم وهللا غفور‬4( ‫إن الذين ينادونك من وراء الحجرت أكثرهم ال يعقلون‬

[49:4] (As for) those who call out to you from behind the private chambers,
surely most of them do not understand. [49:5] And if they wait patiently until you
come out to them, it would certainly be better for them, and Allah is Forgiving,
Merciful

Al Fazal Al Tabarsy – From Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, from Akrama, from Ibn Abbas,

‘They were a people from the Clan of Anbar. The Prophetsaww had hit (injured in the
battle) someone from their offspring, so they came for their expiation. So they
proceeded to Al-Medina and entered the Masjid, and were hasty that the Prophetsaww
should come out to them. So they went on saying, ‘O Muhammadsaww! Come out to
us!’65

SURAH QAF

(Prayers) in the recitation of Suha Qaf, Allahazwj would Expand to him, in his livelihood,
and Give him his Book (Register of Deeds) in his right hand, and Reckon him with and
easy Reckoning’.66

‫سورة الذاريات‬

SURAH AL ZARIYAAT
Verse 8 & 9

)9( ‫) يؤفك عنه من أفك‬1( ‫إنكم لفى قول مختلف‬

[51:8] Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say [51:9] He
is turned away from it who would be turned away

(It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’farasws regarding the Words of the High [51:8] Most
surely you are at variance with each other in what you say – i.e., with regards to
the matter of Al-Wilayah. [51:9] He is turned away from it who would be turned
away – The one who turns away from the Wilayah had (in fact) turned away from the
Paradise’.67

Verse 24

)44( ‫هل أتك حديث ضيف إبرهيم المكرمين‬

[51:24] Has there come to you a Hadeeth of about the honoured guests of
Ibrahim?

،‫ كان إبراهيم (عليه السالم) يدعى أبا الضيفان‬:‫ عن عكرمة قال‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬:‫[ ابن كثير ] قال أبو بكر بن عياش‬
.‫وكان لقصره أربعة أبواب لكيال يفوته أحد‬

Ibn Kaseer – Abu Bakr Bin Ayash said, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, from Akrama who said,

‘Ibrahimas used to be called ‘The father of the guests’, and upon his castle were four
doors, so as no one would miss it’.68

‫سورة الطور‬

AL TOOR
Verse 47

)45( ‫وإن للذين ظلموا عذابا دون ذلك ولكن أكثرهم ال يعلمون‬

[52:47] And surely those who are unjust shall have a Punishment besides that
but most of them do not know

Majestic [52:47] And surely those who are unjust shall have a Punishment
besides that but most of them do not know. The Imamasws said: ‘[52:47] And
surely those who are unjust – (towards) the Progenyasws of Muhammadsaww of
theirasws rights’.69

‫سورة النجم‬

SURAH AL-NAJAM
Verses 1 to 4

)4( ‫) إن هو إال وحى يوحى‬0( ‫) وما ينطق عن الهوى‬4( ‫) ما ضل صاحبكم وما غوى‬8( ‫والنجم إذا هوى‬

[53:1] I swear by the star when it goes down [53:2] Your companion does not
err, nor does he go astray [53:3] Nor does he speak out of desire [53:4] It is
naught but Revelation that is Revealed

‫ حدثنا إبراهيم بن‬:‫ حدثنا أبي قال‬:‫ حدثنا إسحاق بن محمد قال‬:‫ حدثنا محمد بن خلف قال‬:‫[ الثعلبي ] أخبرني ابن فنجويه قال‬

Al Sa’alby – Ibn Fanjawiya informed me, from Muhammad Bin Khalaf, from Is’haq Bin Muhammad, from
his father, from Ibrahim Bin Isa, from Ali Bin Ali, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly

- [53:1] I swear by the star when it goes down, ‘These are stars when they would
scatter on the Day of Judgement’.70

Abu Al Fatouh Al Razy – Abu Hamza Al Sumaly said,

‘These are the stars when they would scatter and blanked out on the Day of
Judgement regarding Hisazwj Words [77:8] So, when the stars are made to dim and
Hisazwj Words [82:2] And when the planets are scattered’.71

‫ حدثني الوليد‬:‫ حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم بن المعلى قال‬:‫[ أبو الفرج االصفهاني ] أخبرني الحسن بن القاسم البجلي الكوفي قال‬
:)‫ قال عتبة للنبي (صلى هللا عليه وآله‬،* )‫ * (والنجم إذا هوى‬:‫ لما نزلت‬:‫ عن عكرمة قال‬،‫ عن أبي حمزة الثمالي‬،‫بن وهب‬
.‫ اللهم أرسل عليه كلبا من كالبك‬:)‫ فقال رسول هللا (صلى هللا عليه وآله‬.‫أنا أكفر برب النجم إذا هوى‬

Abu Al Faraj Al Isfahany – Al Hassan Bin Al Qasim Al Bajaly Al Kufy informed me, from Ali Bin Ibrahim
Bin Al Moala, from Al Waleed Bin Wahab, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, from Akrama who said,

‘When [53:1] I swear by the star when it goes down was Revealed, Oteyba said to
the Prophetsaww, ‘I reject the Lordazwj of the star which goes down’. So Rasoo-Allahsaww
said: ‘O Allahazwj! Send to him a hound from Yourazwj hounds’.

‫ نزلوا‬،‫ وهي مسبعة‬،‫ حتى إذا كانوا بوادي الغاضرة‬،‫ فخرج إلى الشام في ركب فيهم هبار بن األسود‬:‫ فقال ابن عباس‬:‫قال‬
.‫ فبات وسطهم‬.‫ ال أبيت إال وسطكم‬،‫ وهللا‬،‫ أتريدون أن تجعلوني حجزة ؟ ال‬:‫ فقال عتبة‬،‫ فافترشوا صفا واحدا‬،‫ليال‬

He (the narrator) said, ‘Ibn Abbas said, ‘So he (Oteyba) went out to Syria in the
footsteps of Habar Bin Al-Aswad, until when they were at Al-Ghazara valley, and it is
Masba’at. The night descended, so they slept in one row. So Oteyba said, ‘Are you

intending to make a room for me? No, by Allahazwj, I shall not sleep except in your
midst’. So he slept in their midst.

،‫ أي قوم‬:‫ فصاح‬،‫ فأنشب أنيابه في صدغيه‬،‫ حتى انتهى إليه‬،‫ فما أنبهني إال السبع يشم رؤوسهم رجال رجال‬:‫قال هبار‬
.‫ فلم يلبث أن مات في أيديهم‬،‫ فأمسكوه‬،‫قتلتني دعوة محمد‬

Habar said, ‘So what awakened me was the lion which was smelling their heads, man
by man, until it ended up at him, so it sunk its teeth in his temples, so he shrieked, ‘O
people, the supplication of Muhammadsaww killed me!’ So it grabbed him, and it was
not before he died in their hands’.72

‫ أخبرنا أبو أحمد عبيدهللا بن محمد بن أحمد بن‬،‫[ ابن المغازلي ] أخبرنا أبو طاهر محمد بن علي بن محمد البيع البغدادي‬

‫ إلى‬...‫ ألحتجن عليكم بما ال يستطيع عربيكم وال عجميكم يغير ذلك‬:‫ فسمعت عليا يقول لهم‬،‫السالم) في البيت يوم الشورى‬
‫ ما أنا‬:‫ فقال رسول هللا‬،‫ فأنشدكم باهلل أتعلمون أنه [ (صلى هللا عليه وآله) ] أمر بسد أبوابكم وفتح بأبي فقلتم في ذلك‬:‫أن قال‬
.‫ اللهم ال‬:‫سددت أبواكم وال أنا فتحت بابه بل هللا سد أبوابكم وفتح بابه غيري ؟ قالوا‬

Ibn Al Maghazily – Abu Tahir Muhammad Bin Ali Bin Muhammad Al Baya Al Baghdady informed us,
from Abu Ahmad Ubeydullah Bin Muhammad Bin Ahmad Bin abu Muslim, from Abu Al Abbas Ahmad
Bin Muhammad Bin Saeed well known as Ibn Uqda the memoriser, from Ja’far Bin Muhammad Bin
Saeed Al Ahmasy, from Nasr Bin Mazaham, from Abu Sasaan and Abu Hamza, from Abu Is’haq Al
Sabi’e, from Aamir Bin Wasila who said,

‘I was with Aliasws in the house on the day of the consultation, so I heard Ali asws saying
to them: ‘Iasws shall argue against you with what neither your Arab nor your non-Arabs
would be able to change that’ – until heasws said: ‘So, Iasws adjure you with Allahazwj! Do
you know that hesaww ordered for the closure of your doors, and the opening of my asws,
so you all spoke with regards to that, so Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘It was not Isaww who
closed your doors, nor was it Isaww who opened hisasws door, but it was Allahazwj Who
Closed your doors and Opened hisasws door, apart from mineasws?’ They said, ‘O
Allahazwj! No!’73

Verses 8 & 9

)9( ‫) فكان قاب قوسين أو أدنى‬1( ‫ثم دنا فتدلى‬

[53:8] Then he approached, so he bowed [53:9] So he was the measure of two


bows or even closer

(It has been) similar to it (i.e. similar to the Hadeeth non 303 above), except that he
said, ‘Oteyba said, ‘I am disavowing from the who [53:8] Then he approached, so he
bowed (meaning Rasool-Allahsaww)’. And Habar said, ‘So the lion sunk its fangs into
him, and turned its teeth over him’.74

،‫ تعالى هللا عن ذلك‬:‫ فقال‬،‫بن الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب (عليهم السالم) عن هللا جل جالله هل يوصف بمكان‬

Al Sadouq – Muhammad Bin Ahmad Bin Al Sanany narrated to us, from Muhammad Bin Abu Abdullah
Al Kufy, from Musa Bin Imran Al Nakhai’e, from his uncle Al Husayn Bin Yazeed Al Nowfaly, from Ali
Bin Saalim, from his father, from Sabi Bin Dinaar who said,

‘I asked Zayn Al-Abideen Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws Bin Ali Bin Abu Talibasws about
Allahazwj Majestic is Hisazwj Majesty, can Heazwj be described with a place?’ So heasws
said: ‘Exalted is Allahazwj from that’.

‫ ليريه ملكوت السماء وما فيها من عجائب صنعه وبدايع‬:‫ قال‬،‫قلت فلم أسرى بنبيه محمد (صلى هللا عليه وآله) إلى السماء‬
‫ ذاك رسول هللا (صلى هللا عليه وآله) دنا من‬:‫ فقول هللا عزوجل * (ثم دنا فتدلى فكان قاب قوسين أو أدنى) * قال‬:‫ قلت‬،‫خلقه‬
‫حجب النور فرأى ملكوت السماوات ثم تدلى (صلى هللا عليه وآله) فنظر من تحته إلى ملكوت األرض حتى ظن أنه في‬
.‫القرب من األرض كقاب قوسين أو أدنى‬

I said, ‘Why did Heazwj Make Hisazwj Prophetsaww to ascend to the sky?’ The Imamasws
said: ‘To Make himsaww see the Kingdoms of the skies and whatever is in these from
the wonders of Hisazwj Making and Hisazwj creatures’. I said, ‘So (what about) the
Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic [53:8] Then he approached, so he bowed
[53:9] So he was the measure of two bows or even closer?’ The Imamasws said:
‘That is Rasool-Allahsaww, approaching the Veils of the Light. So hesaww saw the
Kingdoms of the skies, then heasws bowed, so hesaww looked underneath himsaww to the
kingdoms of the earth until hesaww thought hesaww was near to the earth [53:9] the
measure of two bows or even closer’.75

Verses 13 & 14

)84( ‫) عند سدرة المنتهى‬80( ‫ولقد رأه نزلة أخرى‬

[53:13] And certainly he saw it in another descent, [53:14] At the Lote Tree

‫ يا محمد أنت عبدي وأنا ربك فلي فاخضع وإياي فاعبد وعلي‬:‫ ومن السدرة إلى حجب النور ناداني ربي جل جالله‬،‫المنتهى‬
،‫ فاني قد رضيت بك عبدا وحبيبا ورسوال ونبيا وبأخيك علي خليفة وبابا‬،‫فتوكل وبي فثق‬

Abdullah Al Kufy, from Musa Bin Imran Al Nakhai’e, from his uncle Al Husyan Bin Yazeed Al Nowfaly,

Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘When Iasws ascended to the seventh sky, and from it to the Lote
Tree (Al-Sidrat Al-Muntaha), and from Al-Sidra to a Veil of Light, mysaww Lordazwj,
Majestic is Hisazwj Majesty, Called out to mesaww: ‘O Muhammadsaww! Yousaww are
Myazwj servant, and Iazwj am yoursaww Lordazwj. So to Meazwj yousaww should submit, and
to Meazwj yousaww should worship, and upon Meazwj should you rely, and by Meazwj
yousaww should believe, for Iazwj am Pleased with yousaww as a servant, and as a
beloved, and as a Rasoolsaww, and a Prophetsaww, and with yoursaww brotherasws Aliasws
as a Caliph and a Gateway.

‫فهو حجتي على عبادي وإمام لخلقي به يعرف أوليائي من أعدائي وبه يميز حزب الشيطان من حزبي وبه يقام ديني وتحفظ‬
‫ وبك وبه وباألئمة من ولده أرحم عبادي وامائي وبالقائم منكم أعمر أرضي بتسبيحي وتهليلي‬،‫حدودي وتنفذ أحكامي‬
،‫ وبه اطهر األرض من أعدائي واورثها أوليائي‬،‫وتقديسي وتكبيري وتمجيدي‬

So heasws is Myazwj Proof upon Myazwj servants, and an Imamasws to Myazwj creatures.
By himasws Myazwj friends are recognised from Myazwj enemies, and by himasws is
differentiated the party of the Satanla from Myazwj party, and by himasws is Myazwj
Religion established and Myazwj Limits are protected, and Myazwj Judgements are
implemented. And it is by yousaww and by himasws and by the Imamsasws from hisasws
sonsasws, Iazwj have Mercy upon Myazwj servants and Myazwj maids, and by Al-Qaimasws
from among youasws that Iazwj shall Populate Myazwj earth with Myazwj Glorification, and
Extollation of Myazwj Holiness, and exclamation of Myazwj Greatness and Myazwj Praise,
and by himasws Isaww shall Purify the earth from Myazwj enemies and Make Myazwj
Guardians to inherit it,

‫ وبه احيي عبادي وبالدي بعلمي وله (به) اظهر الكنوز والذخائر‬،‫وبه أجعل كلمة الذين كفروا بي السفلى وكلمتي العليا‬
‫بمشيتي وإياه أظهر على األسرار والضمائر بإرادتي وأمده بمالئكتي لتؤيده على إنفاذ أمري وإعالن ديني ذلك وليي حقا‬
.‫ومهدي عبادي صدقا‬

And by himasws Iazwj shall Make the words of those who disbelieve in Me azwj to be lowly
and Myazwj Words to be the Higher, and by himasws Iazwj shall Revive Myazwj servants
and Myazwj country with Myazwj Knowledge, for himasws (by himasws Manifest the
treasures and the hoards by Myazwj Desire, and Manifest to himasws the secrets and the
consciences by Myazwj Will, and Aid himasws with Myazwj Angels to support himasws upon
the implementation of Myazwj commands and the proclamation of Myazwj Religion. That
is Myazwj true Guardianasws, and Myazwj Mahdiasws (Guided one), Myazwj truthful
servant’.76

Verse 37

)05( ‫وإبرهيم الذى وفى‬

[53:37] And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled it?

‫ عن أبي جعفر‬،‫ عن أبي سعيد المكاري عن أبي حمزة‬،‫ عن محمد بن سنان‬،‫ عن بعض أصحابه‬،‫[ الكليني ] علي بن محمد‬
‫ كان إذا‬:‫ وما هن ؟ قال‬:‫ قلت‬،‫ كلمات بالغ فيهن‬:‫ * (وإبرهيم الذى وفى) * ؟ قال‬:‫ ما عنى بقوله‬:‫ قلت له‬:‫(عليه السالم) قال‬
‫ وإذا‬- ‫ ثالثا‬- ‫ أصبحت وربي محمود أصبحت ال أشرك باهلل شيئا وال أدعو معه إلها وال أتخذ من دونه وليا‬:‫أصبح قال‬

Al Kulayni – Ali Bin Muhammad, from one of his companions, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Abu
Saeed Al Makary, from Abu Hamza,

(The narrator) says ‘I said to Abu Ja’farasws himasws, ‘What is the Meaning of Hisazwj
Words [53:37] And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled it? The Imamasws said: ‘Deep words
therein’. I said, ‘And what are these?’ Heasws said: ‘Whenever it was the morning, heas
said: ‘Ias wake up in the morning and Ias do not associate anything with Allahazwj nor do
Ias call upon a god along with Himazwj, nor do Ias take a confidant besides Himazwj’ –
three times, and when it was the evening, he as said it three times’. Heasws said: ‘Thus
Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Revealed in Hisazwj Book [53:37] And (of) Ibrahim who
fulfilled it’.77

‘I said to Abu Abdullahasws , ‘(What about) the Words of Allahazwj in Hisazwj Book [48:2]
That Allah may Forgive you what has preceded from your sins and what is to
follow. Heasws said: ‘There was no sin on himsaww, nor was hesaww with a sin, but
Allahazwj burdened himsaww with the sins of hissaww Shias, then Forgave them for hissaww
sake’.78

:‫ أنه سئل عن قول هللا عز و جل‬:)‫ و يؤيده ما روي مرفوعا عن أبي الحسن الثالث (عليه السالم‬:‫قال شرف الدين النجفي‬
‫ و أي ذنب كان لرسول هللا (صلى هللا عليه و آله) متقدما أو‬:)‫ فقال (عليه السالم‬،‫ك َو ما َتأ َ هخ َر‬ ‫ك ه‬
َ ‫هللا ُ ما َت َق هد َم ِمنْ َذ ْن ِب‬ َ َ‫لِ َي ْغف َِر ل‬
.»‫ ثم غفرها له‬،‫ من مضى منهم و من بقي‬،)‫متأخرا؟ و إنما حمله هللا ذنوب شيعة علي (عليه السالم‬

Sharaf Al-Deen Al-Najafi said,

‘And it is supported by what has been reported from Abu Al-Hassanasws the Third
having said about the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic [48:2] That Allah may
Forgive you what has preceded from your sins and what is to follow, so heasws
said: ‘And which sin was committed by Rasool-Allahsaww, before or after?’ But rather,
Allahazwj Burdened himsaww with the sins of the Shias of Aliasws , from the past among
them and the ones who remain, then Forgave them on hissaww behalf’.79
