ABSTRACT

The Global Competitiveness Index is used to compare the quality of Higher Education and Training
of Colombia and Japan according to pillar number 5. This pillar is important to study because
higher education and quality training are crucial factors for economies that want to advance in the
value chain beyond the productive processes. The sub-index chosen evaluates the educational
quality and how this training process is carried out. When the results and effects of education are
positive for the community, the quality of education is high.

OVERALL OBJECTIVE

Analyze the reason why Japan is better positioned in the Global Competitiveness ranking than
Colombia in the pillar previously chosen and to provide a general solution for Colombia to improve
the quality of the education system.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

• Analyze the background of the two countries to understand their current status in relation to the
topic of discussion.

• Analyze the most relevant differences in the countries that are compared to determine the
specific problems that prevent Colombia from advancing in education.

• Identify what processes Japan has in the quality of the education system to be able to apply
them in Colombia.
