I believe that all students possess unique gifts that they can use to make a difference in

the world. Every child has potential which he or she can reach with proper structure and support.

Teachers provide their students with this structure and support by focusing on the material taught

and the student's well-being.

The teacher should act as a guide in the classroom, providing knowledge when needed,

while also encouraging children to direct their own learning. The classroom environment will be

a safe place where students feel free to express themselves without fear of judgment or

persecution. This will be accomplished by setting clear and concise expectations early, while

also involving students in the process of creating fair and consistent classroom rules.

I believe that behavior management is crucial in order to have a well-run classroom.

Students should be made aware of expectations and routines at the beginning of the year, and

reminded of them when appropriate throughout. Parents should also be made aware of these

behavior expectations so that the teacher and parents can work together if behavior problems

persist. When a student receives some sort of reinforcement for their behavior, it is important for

the teacher to help the student understand what an appropriate replacement behavior is as well in

order to help set expectations.

When measuring students understanding over time, a variety of assessments should be

used in order to prepare students. These types of assessments allow the teacher to see strengths

of students who may struggle with traditional means of assessment. Examples of different forms

of assessment include but are not limited to: standardized testing, oral presentations, written

tests, projects, performances, or discussions. Information from these assessments should be used

by the classroom teacher to inform the methods and content they use when teaching.
I believe that diversity in the classroom is crucial and students will engage with a variety

of literature and activities that help them to understand people from different diverse

backgrounds on a greater level. I also believe that students with disabilities should be educated in

the general education curriculum to the greatest possible extent and that these students should

receive their instruction in the least restrictive environment possible. I believe these students are

capable of improvement and that they can achieve great things with time and hard work.
