ISOLATIING CURRENT TRANSFORMER BASED SMART POWER THEFT

IDENTIFICATION IN MODERN EB

ABSTRACT:

The main objective of this project is to indicate electric

power theft to the electricity board. In this project we compare a particular pole

input and output current by using current transformers. If there is any difference

between the input current and the output current, then it indicates that current is

being drawn from that particular pole as theft. Here we place one current

transformer in input side of the post line. Other current transformers are placed at

the distribution points to the houses. The outputs of the current transformers are

given as input to the precision rectifier. The converts precision rectifier these

convert the ac reference inputs into dc value. Then the microcontroller compares

the input current and the sum of output currents. If compared result has any

difference in value then this particular post is detected as theft point. To indicate

this theft a buzzer is sounded, an LED flashes and another LED is lighted up to

specify the pole where power theft is taking place. The advantage of this project is

to reduce the electric power theft. This is useful in power stations, electricity

board, distribution poles, etc.
