Teaching Philosophy ‘There is no right way to be a teacher but when I teach 1 aim to use the best tacking practices in onder ta give my students the tools they need to reach their potential. No student is the same and itis important for me to be considerate of student's different learning styles, backgrounds, and prior knowledge when I am creating a safe classroom environment for students to learn. My job as a teacher is to guide and work with students as they learn, There are many philosophies that inspire my teaching such as, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, Howard Gardner's ‘Theory of Multiple Intelligences and Funds of Knowledge. | utilize ideas from these philosophies to help make learning impactful and memorable for students to use in their furure endeavors. Lhope students can use the tools I give them in their every day lives Since all studemts learn differently | chink itis important to incorporate lessons teat compliment different learning styles such 2s for visual learners, kinesthetic learners, auditory learners and others. | also encourage cooperative learning in the classsoom. It gives students a chance to learn from each other, gain new perspectives, and Jearn the values af teamwork, Students have diverse backgrounds to being to the classeaor. As a teacher | like te incorporate students’ Funds of Keowledge, or aut of school experiences. This belps me get to know the students and make what the students are learning mare meaningéul to them. All students bave the ability to learn. However, students learn at differeat rates and must have all of their needs met in order to do so, In order to create an inclusive environment for the students [think it is important te get to know the studeets, communicate with theis families, and have daily check-ins with the studeats to make sure they are physically, meatally, and emotionally ready to learn. Doing these things with students and their families helps me create a learning space where the students can be the most comfortable. I alsa look to include a socially just environment where all the students! backgrounds are represented. This representation eat ‘come in the form of lessons, activities, literature, videos and more. | want the students to be able two see themselves reflected in what they are learning so they ean understand the importance of themselves in society and the importance of their wark. Students are young and nved to be engaged and active in the classroom. I believe hands- ‘on learning can help students retain what they are learning about, It gives students experiences to reflect on if they approach a similar topic in their future educational experiences. [ also think utilizing performance based assessments is a good two! in the elassroam. Performance based assessments help me see the student's process in coming up with their final product. It is also a ‘way for students to see what others have to show: It also gives the students an opportunity to reflect on their work and make changes to make future work even better. Growing and persevering is something I would like te eacourage in my classroom. Overall, there are many’ aspects that ge into a gafe and productive elassrowm, There ate also ensany twelinigues that ] can use ta support that environment, I want students to be able to tuke what they learn in the classroom and share it with people they know and bave an impact on their community. With the tools [ would provide in the classroom they will be able to do just that.
