Introduce the learners to the topic by talking very briefly about how long it took
me to get from my parent’s house in the country to the institute that morning
and how advantageus it is to live in the city in order to get to my appointments

disadvantages of living in the city. Listen to their conversations. Next, tell each
pair to share their ideas with the rest of the class.

about living in the city?’ from exercise 1b. Play the tape.
Then tell the students to check answers in pairs. Listen to their conversations.

much as I can.

Check answers as a class. Give feedback by clarifying problems of meaning (by

work or to buy something?’), pronunciation (by drilling chorally and individually)
