THE UNFORESEEN SUFFERING
Due to multiple deaths and injuries it causes, hazing is one of the most controversial
issues today. Hazing brings about pain, suffering, and even death to whoever is in its
path. No amount of pain and injuries can replace for the loss of life.
As Years have passed, many students are suffering from pain or worse getting killed due
to fraternity hazings. One of them is Horatio Castillo III, a student from University of
Santo Tomas died due to traumatic injuries he got from the hands of Aegis Juries
fraternity. He died as he experienced physical inceptions in the hands of his future
siblings. As to observe that college students mostly seem to need a brotherhood or
fraternity to help them feel more comfortable in the college community but it seems that
instead of helping them to feel accepted, they suffered from physical injuries and the
worse was death.
The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) has confirmed that cadet Darwin Dormitorio
died of injuries resulting from hazing rites, supposedly at the hands of three
upperclassmen in the military school. A young man submits to a brutal hazing ritual in
search of brotherhood, a lifetime of bonding and all imaginable hopes of
brotherhood. Now, a man's dream was completely gone.
According to reporter Frances Mangosing there are two more cadets from the
Philippine Military Academy (PMA) are confined in a hospital possibly due to
maltreatment, days after the death of hazing victim Cadet 4th Class Darwin
Dormitorio. Only one person that was immediately reported but those 2 person was’nt
checked as soon as possible were also injured. Many of us do not know that someone
was suffering secretly.
There is no justification for bodily and intellectual torture or hazing for one’s reconciliation
to a brotherhood or a sorority. Hazing promotes violence which is a terrible in almost all
viable perspectives. Such huge numbers of youthful promising men had been put to waste
who might have contributed something of value to making a better world.Such a large
number of dreams had been shattered. Such a significant number of families had been
broken.
