Interview Assessment 2

Name of Person Interviewed: Mrs. Meenal Sinha

Profession: Financial Analyst/Advisor

Business Name: Hegemon Financial Group

Date of Interview: October 14th

Time: 12:00 pm

My interview was with Mrs. Meenal Sinha, a colleague of my mentor at Hegemon

Financial Group. I have interacted with her before, but never discussed her career as a financial

analyst. I have never been clear on what that title entails, so she explained that a financial analyst

provides the research behind the decisions that a financial advisor, or other financial institutions,

make. Thus, her two career titles go hand in hand and have helped her gain a more wholesome

view of the industry. I learned that a financial analyst is a profitable title since you can work for

many entities, such as banks, businesses, or even independent clients. Personally, a drawback for

this career is that it is heavily based on research- everything from researching the performance of

stocks to investment options. While this would increase my knowledge and understanding of

financial markets, I love interacting with people and don’t want my daily activities to remain

isolated. Thus, I prefer the title of a financial advisor since I will get to meet clients regularly and

have new experiences. However, I think the work of a financial analyst also fits my goals in the

sense that I always want to research financial markets in order to ensure that my decisions with

portfolios will be profitable. Thus, I plan to continue research on the side.

Another topic I discussed with Mrs. Sinha is her experience changing career tracks to

incorporate financial advising. She explained that her struggles were eased by the fact that she

had years of experience in a similar field, and the main added responsibility was interacting with

clients and applying her knowledge to portfolios. She heavily advised me to start learning how to

submit applications for policies since that was a large part of the job and the quicker I can submit

them, the more time I will have in the future to meet with clients and expand my operations.

Hence, I plan to incorporate submitting applications into my internship this year with the

company.

Mrs. Sinha has vast experience in researching the stock market, the base for my work this

year in ISM. Thus, she provided me with valuable guidance regarding my Original Work. She

thought that my goal and structure for the research paper would provide me with useful

information for the stage that I’m at. She recommended that I include more indicators in my

report, most importantly, the Buffet Indicator. She explained that this is one of the most reputed

and credible ways to measure the health of financial markets and to make predictions on the

future performance of the markets. Thus, I will be researching this in my next research

assessment.

My interview with Mrs. Sinha was provided me with a new look on the way I viewed the

careers of financial analysts and financial advisors. I now realize that I do not need to choose

between the two since they are both interconnected. Thus, I plan to gain foundational skills in

both careers and create a niche for myself where I will heavily research financial markets and

meet with clients. Although this may cut down on the number of clients I can meet, it will be a
beneficial tool because the expertise I will gain with my research will increase the quality of my

work.
