In December 18, 2015, President Barack Obama signed into law the

Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA). The law aimed at controlling

the kind of information shared in various social media platforms by

companies. The law gives provisions to various companies over sharing

cyber threats information with the government in order to strengthen the

national security status. The bill being passed into law was one great step

towards fastening national security by the government. To the common

citizens who do not use the internet, the implementation of the law serves

a stronger strategic plan towards improving the national state of security.

Their argument is based on the fact that all the information communicated

over the internet is monitored keenly by the company and the government.

The law intends to apply the liability protection over which every company

shall be held responsible over any cyber threat information passed through

their network.

However, the law has faced several critics by different organizations

and diplomats ever since it was passed. Various organizations and

diplomats argue that the law intends to deny internet users their right to

privacy. The opposers presents points out some weaknesses of the law that

the companies involved in the telecommunication industry won’t buy the

idea due to the fear of breaching the rights to privacy of their customers.

Considerably, the law is very important in the cyber strategic operations.

The provisions of the law that holds various companies responsible for any

breach of the law seems much promising in controlling cyber crimes

committed by people with masked profiles. Thus, with this law, the rate of

cyber crime offenses would be reduced.
