The Reality of our Redemption – Week 3

The price for our redemption is the blood - Titus 2:14. All iniquity and not some. Titus 3:4-6: Not by
works of righteousness which we have done. Nothing was asked of you. The price was paid on your
behalf. Nothing was demanded of you. The price was paid on your behalf – Ephesians 1:3-7. All not
some. In verse 6, He was the one that qualified you to be accepted. Verse 7: We have redemption
through His blood. Grace means what you did not work for, merit or deserve. Grace must be
unconditional. It is what you did not work for but you are called to be a beneficiary of. The grace of
God means that you did not work for it neither did you merit it. It means that you did not deserve it
– Colossians 1:12-14 – Deliverance can only come by Christ and His death. His death has done that
already. What was given on our behalf was the blood of Jesus. The price is the blood of Jesus. We
have redemption only through the blood of Jesus. He died, was buried and rose from the dead. So He
is the one who gave us redemption which was through His blood.

Why did Jesus Rise from the Dead?

1 Corinthians 15:14,17 – Redemption was not complete until Jesus rose from the dead. Salvation
involves 3 acts –
1. The death
2. The burial
3. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
His rising from the dead was the proof that our redemption was fully paid for.

Where did He shed Leviticus 16:14-17 – The shedding of the blood was always done every year on
the day of atonement. This can only be done by the high priest. This was done behind the veil as the
high priest sprinkles the blood of the lamb upon the mercy seat. This sprinkling of the blood by
the high priest on the mercy seat is the shedding of the blood. This act atones for the sin of the
whole of Israel for a year, but it could not take away sin. In other words, in the OT under the shadows,
every time the people sins, the high priest gave the people instructions to prepare their goats and at
the end of the year, they will bring their goats. Actually, there were two goats, one was called the scape
goat and the other was the sacrificial lamb. The high priest would look and examine the goat. He does
not examine the person but the goat because the goat was a substitute for the person. If the goat is
ok, then the person is asked to go away. Then the high priest offers the blood of the animal on the
mercy seat. That was where the shedding of the blood was done. There is a difference between the
shedding of blood and the spilling of blood. Blood spilling is when you cut your body for example
and blood is coming out. The shedding of blood means that Jesus Christ put Himself on the mercy
seat and sat there on our behalf. This the shedding of the blood. This act (the sacrifice of the lamb)
atones for the sin of Israel for a whole year but it could not take away sins. God’s best is not to cover
sin but to take it away – Behold the lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world – Hebrews
10:1-4. It is not possible that the blood of bulls, goats and calves could take away sin. This shows that
this practice was a shadow of the reality which is Christ. It shows that this practice was a shadow of
the reality which is Christ. So, Leviticus 17:11,14 therefore, that the life of all flesh is in the blood. It
is the blood that makes atonement for the soul - Hebrews 9:1-28. Verse 12 shows that He entered
into the Holy place once. How? Verse 14: He offered Himself. Today He is alive to show that salvation
is eternal because it has been fully paid for. The price of salvation is also therefore eternal – Hebrews
9:12. When a man is saved, what he receives is eternal - Hebrews 5:8-9; Hebrews 7:25 He is able to
save them unto the uttermost. The word “uttermost” is from the Greek word “panteles” which means
“Full, entire. It implies therefore complete salvation. That the salvation that Jesus offers is complete
and perfect. When a man is saved, he is saved completely. The salvation purchased for us is complete.
It is not what you worked for, but rather received and it is freely given that it cannot be lost –
Ephesians 2:8-10, 13-15. By grace are we saved through faith. It is the gift of God. Since the price of
redemption is eternal, whatever the price gives, is also eternal. He dwells in us forever - 1 Cor. 3:16;
Hebrews 10:1-2, 10-14. Our redemption in the blood is eternal and that is because Jesus rose eternally
never to die again – 1 Peter 1:18-19.

What was used in redeeming you? What was used in paying the price for you being born-gain freely
was the blood of Jesus Christ. That is how expensive you are. When God looked at the planet, there
was no enough gold mines in the Republic of Congo to pay for man’s sin. When God looked at the
planet, there was no enough gold in Ghana to pay for your sin neither was there enough oil wells in
Nigeria to pay for your sin. It was a planet of men that were bankrupt, destitute, poor and had no
wherewithal to stand before that justice. God became a man and died. That death was the death that
Jesus used in paying the price for sin. Therefore, by virtue of what He has done, He has paid and
because He has paid the price, we are redeemed; we are ransomed, not by corruptible things. Money
is corruptible, natural things are corruptible. But what Jesus used in buying us back cannot be
corrupted. It was His life; It was His blood because the life of all flesh is in its blood. That blood of
Jesus is the life of Jesus.
The blood is not something that you sprinkle because it is not liquid. The blood is a person. Jesus is
that blood. So when He rose from the dead, and appeared before His majesty on high, the blood
which is the price for sin was truly paid. It was fully paid, predicated on the death, burial and
resurrection of Christ. If Jesus had not risen from the dead, our faith would have been vain. It is that
resurrection that validates our salvation. That is the same way you rose from the dead if you believe
the gospel. When mortality puts on immortality, we shall be changed in a moment and experience that
immortal life as well. The reason why we cannot experience that immortality now is because of this
body – 1 Peter 1:18 – You are redeemed eternally. Jesus died once. It is not redeemed until you are
made right or function well. It is redeemed because the price has been paid for by Christ. All of your
disobedience against the gospel has been paid for by Christ. Once you believe in Christ Jesus, you are
saved. The price is paid – Hebrews 10:1-2, 10-14. Redemption, therefore, is eternal – Hebrews 10:1-
14, 1 Peter 1:18-19. Today Jesus standing right before the Father, is our blood of sprinkling, speaking
on our behalf, better things than the blood of Abel. Instead of sprinkling, say the name that we have
been given in times of danger. That at the Name of Jesus, every knee bow. In that name is the blood
and in that name is the victory. We as believers do not sprinkle the blood rather, we call the name of
Jesus Christ. The price was paid in full. Our redemption which is to buy back, to purchase back is
eternal. Our freedom is eternal. Galatians 5:1.
Jesus paid in full everything we owed the devil. The moment you believe the scripture, you are eternally
redeemed. The moment you believe the scripture, your sins are eternally forgiven. Stand, fast in this
liberty (Galatians 5:1), because you have been purchased, redeemed and of great value. You are
precious in His sight. Redemption is ransom. The price that was paid to buy you back was Jesus Christ.
That death was the price of separation. For the first time in human history, God walked away from
God. From Genesis, from the fall of Adam, God kept chasing after man, but the moment God became
a man and mounted the cross, God turned His back on God. God said to God, “my God, My God,
why hast Thou forsaken me?” That moment, those three days of separation was the payment of the
price for your sin because the fall of Adam was separation. So, the reconciliation would reunite us
with God and that was what the death of Jesus did. The precious blood of the lamb was the only thing
that could be used to redeem man
