TITLE
THE FUNCTIONAL CHECK ON ELEVATOR AND RUDDER
CONTROL SYSTEM OF CESSNA 206 IN ACCORDANCE WITH
C206 SERVICE MANUAL

OBJECTIVE
To perform functional check on elevator and rudder system of Cessna 206 Aircraft in
accordance with C206 Service Manual.

Toolbox

PROCEDURE

SAFETY PRECAUTION

a) Students were needed to wear personal protective equipment completely such as safety
boot.
b) Students need to check for any foreign object damage around the aircraft before
inspection.
c) All systems in the cockpit need to be turned off.
RESULT

Corrosion occur at the bell crank connection

Both elevator pulley were misalignment


Elevator pulley suspected worn

Rudder cable was found chaffing


Cable tension reading by tensiometer

Functional check on elevator by using control surface protector and control lock
DISCUSSION

a) Based on the functional check, the rudder and elevator system is not in a good
condition as the cable and pulley in not good condition.
b) Therefore, major repair is needed for the aircraft for training purposes.
c) The damages can be seen from the picture of the rudder and elevator assembly.

CONCLUSION

The functional check on rudder and elevator control system for aircraft Cessna 206
carried out in accordance with C206 Service Manual Section 6-1, 8-1,10-1 conclude
that the rudder and elevator system of the aircraft is not in good condition and
required servicing and maintenance to be done to the system.
