Sarah Ritter '00 models a plethora of beaded bracelets. Bracelet Beads have
become the coolest thing since the slap bracelet. Not only are they cool-
looking but they mean something as well. With bracelets that will give you
good luck in romance to bracelets that will make you smarter. The big question
is still "Do they really work?"

Tanning is especially popular right before dances and just prior to the summer season.
Many find it easier and more convenient than sitting out in the sun. It's not just for girls
anymore, as many guys are tanning these days as well. Here, Laura Blank, '01 shows us
her funky tanning glasses.
Here we have Angela Queii '02 modeling a beautiful blue bandana. Ladies were
wearing the fashionable bandanas on their heads to show off their style and
occasionally cover up a bad hair day.
Ah, the trend that never dies. That's right, brand name
clothing. This year's coolest brands include: Abercrombie
and Fitch, American Eagle, Express, Tommy Hilfiger, Polo
and Calvin Klein, just to name a few. Nathan Johnson '01 ._._.J N~~

Em arassing Moments
Students sound off on wh<1t embarasst'd tht'm the most
"Okay, we were playing truth or dare and I had to go put on a friend's pink underwear.
Then they made me go out in the street and dance around the street poles on the comer."
Rodney Egel'03
"There was a teacher this year that I thought was cute. I took a picture of him
when he wasn't looking, and my boyfriend and another guy told the teacher
about it. Then someone pointed me out to the teacher. I was so embarassed,
I turned really red."
Erin Wakefield '00
"I was at my friend's dad's house and was goofing around and putting the wrong hands
through each of my sleeves. Megan McDonugh pushed me, and I stumbled and tripped
over onto a big glass table. The glass didn't break but the table had stuff all over it from
the party. It all went flying all over the room."
"I took a group of SODA and TRY officers down to the school board convention in Des Moines
in 1996. We stayed over night there and the night before, Mr. Weaver had kept me up almost the
whole night talking. I was beat. During one of the breaks I went in to go to the bathroom and
leaned on one of the stalls because I was so tired. The entire side of the stall broke off and fell
over on the guy standing at the urinal next to me."
"The night before this happened I had laid my clothes out on my bed before I went to bed.
I got up and went to school just like normal but when I got there I found that there was a
bunch of stuff in my pockets. In the middle of class I reached into my pockets and pulled
out 2 pair of underwear. My brothers had stuffed all of my pockets and my binders with
underwear!"
Tom Lindsley '03

uMy favorite high school memory was the time my three best girlfriends and I went to
Iowa City and saw the Backstreet Boys concert. We had a great time at the concert. The
next day we ended up sWking them at the Collins Piau Hotel where they were staying.
One of my friends even got a picture and autograph with one of them. We were very crazy
and childish, but it was a lot of fun."
Katie Patterson '00
oWJ get to be the Idea Box at Best Buy. That is the coolest thing. I get to prance around
and shake people's hands and hug them. The coolest part about the whole thing is that
DO one actually knows who I am when I'm in the Idea Box••. until now."
"During one of the breaks we had on the riverwalk in San Antonio at last year's band trip,
my friends and I went into a pet store and bought hermit crabs. The hermit crabs were our
special friends for the entire band trip. We had them hidden under our seats and every-
thing. They lived for the entire trip, but once we got back home they died."
•Going to Ames for Student Council was fun. Wow, did we have pillow fights! Oh, and
we got to learn about leadership...or something like that."
