Industrial Applications

Baytec® SPR for Potable, Wastewater &

Sanitation Infrastructure
Manholes, digester tanks and concrete piping are
under constant attack from sulfuric acid, which is
secreted by a variety of thio bacteria that colonize on
the walls of these wastewater structures. This quickly
causes corrosion of exposed concrete and metal surfaces.
Baytec® SPR mitigates this problem by effectively
separating the acid from the surface that could be
attacked. And because Baytec® SPR has great acid and
microbial resistance, it will continue to fight the battle
against corrosion for years to come. Baytec SPR 092A
also passes the NSF 61 standard making it a perfect fit
for any potable water application.

Baytec® SPR Thick Film Coatings for Truck Bed Liners

The Baytec® SPR spray elastomer systems are two-component, 100 percent-
solids spray systems that quickly react to form a tough but flexible second
skin for your personal or industrial truck bed application. Polyurethane is
inherently a great adhesive, so a spray-applied truck bed liner based on
Baytec® SPR goes on easy and stays bonded to the underlying surface –
extending the service life of the vehicle. The finished liner has excellent
resistance to abrasion and corrosion in industrial applications such as
hauling gravel or road salt.

Coatings for Commercial Roofing
Commercial metal or SPF-built-up roofs are subject to stresses
caused by rain, snow, fluctuating temperatures and changing
mechanical loads. A tough, elastic and weather-resistant
coating of Baytec® SPR 185A FR spray polyurethane provides
long-lasting UL certified protection for both pitched and flat
roofs. The exceptional flexibility of the Baytec SPR 185A FR
system allows it to expand and contract with the thermal
movement of the roof to effectively bridge joints, seams and
cracks for years to come. At the same time, the system's high
permeability to water vapor prevents moisture from building
up in the roof structure.

Baytec® SPR provides long-lasting protection for both pitched and flat
roofs. Areas that are particularly at risk, such as corners and edges, are
protected longer when sealed with Baytec® SPR spray polyurethanes.

Baytec® SPR Elastomeric Thick Film Coating Systems for
Industrial Applications

Baytec® SPR spray systems are used as a multi-purpose sealing

and corrosion protection system for many types of structures
and applications including bridges, roofs, storage tanks, truck
bed liners, retaining walls, aqueducts, roadways, foundations
and sanitation infrastructure.

Baytec® SPR has been approved by a variety of U.S. Federal,

state and local authorities as well as civil engineering and
consulting firms in the U.S. and worldwide.

Baytec® SPR Spray Systems Combine the Best

of Both Worlds.
Baytec® SPR systems, when reacted to form a membrane, contain
both polyurethane and polyurea chemical linkages. This allows
the system to harness the excellent durability of a polyurea along
with the flexibility and processability of a polyurethane.

Baytec® SPR Thick Film Coating for

Bridges, Automotive & Rail Tunnels and
Elevated Roadways
Constantly growing volumes of traffic are placing roads
and bridges under ever-increasing strain. The growing
traffic subjects the concrete used in their construction
to nearly continuous attack by aggressive exhaust gases
and increased use of de-icing salts. The resulting damage
to the surface exposes the reinforcing steel to corrosion
and degradation.

A proven solution to this problem is a seamless, elastic

waterproofing seal based on Baytec ® SPR thick film
coatings, which resists
damage caused to concrete
by freeze/thaw cycles and
corrosion. Baytec® SPR system’s
polyurethane backbone yields
excellent flexibility that allows
the thick-film coating to
bridge gaps, cracks and
microfissures.
The Baytec® SPR Advantage – at a Glance

Baytec® SPR spray elastomer systems are two-

component solvent-free liquid systems designed
to help protect various substrates including metal,
concrete and foam. There are many advantages in
selecting Baytec® SPR spray elastomers. Below are
some of the properties of the Baytec® SPR products:

Weather Resistance
Baytec® SPR systems demonstrate good
weathering resistance to ozone, UV
radiation and arid high-energy radiation.

Baytec® SPR systems seal cracks to prevent
penetration and attack by aggressive
substances.

Adhesion
Baytec® SPR systems display excellent
adhesion to many different types of
substrates including steel, aluminum, Water Vapor and Gas
concrete and various polymeric surfaces. Permeability

appropriate protective clothing, boots and gloves to prevent skin contact.

Appropriate literature has been assembled that provides information concerning

the health and safety precautions that must be observed when handling the
products mentioned in this publication. Before working with these products, you
must read and become familiar with the available information on their hazards,
proper use and handling. This cannot be overemphasized. Information is avail-
able in several forms, e.g., material safety data sheets and product labels.
Recommendations of proper personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as
environmental controls, are provided as a service to our customers via Bayer’s
Health and Environmental Safety department during the start up phase of opera-
tions. For more information, visit our safe handling information Web-site at
