and media to cover On the basis of given information about Lakme India Limited answer the
following question

2. Suresh purchase a tetra pack of tropical mix fruit juice .He fell sick after drinking the juice. The
consumer took a social media platform and shared an image of a tetra pack of the Tropical mix fruit
juice ,cut open to reveal black substances floating in the juice.He complaint about the same to the
retailer but the retailer replied that you should contact the manufacturer. Despite of making many
complaints to the company ,he did not receive any satisfactory response.
On the basis of the given information ,answer the following question

3.Mr Nath is a recently appointed as a Product manager of Suntech Ltd .He has decided to
produce jute bags instead of plastic bag as they are banned by the government. He set a target of
producing 1000 bags in a day. it was reported that the employees were not able to achieve the
target. After analysis he found that the employees were not motivated and not putting in their best
for achieving the target. Mr Nath's behaviour is good towards the employees. His attitude is always
positive. So he announced various incentive schemes for the employees like: installing award or
certificate for best performance, Rewarding an employee for giving valuable suggestions
,Congratulating the employees for good performance

4. 16. Mr. Sharma opened a fast food eating joint in South Extension, New Delhi. His food
became popular and his joint started attracting a lot of customers. During lunch hours, customers
had to wait in queue for their turn. It resulted in some of the customers going to other eateries. Mr.
Sharma observed this and decided to find a solution to the problem. He observed that the time
taken between placing an order and getting the food was approx. 10-12 minutes although he had
claimed it to be 8 minutes. He installed CCTV in the kitchen and observed that employees attend
to their personal phone calls and gas burners remained idle due to inefficient working habits.
If employees adhere to the standard time norm, it will result in efficient use of resources and more
revenue to the firm. As a result he banned the use of mobile phones during working hours.

5.Mega Private Ltd is company engaged in the business of manufacturing beverages.In the month
of March,Shyam the manager, plans to bring out a new drink for the summer season. He
distributed free samples of the new launch and got the feedback from the customers. The feedback
indicated that customers have preference for mango flavor over strawberry flavor. Accordingly the
production was adjusted and marketing department prepared their promotional and advertising
campaigns. As per sales performance report Shyam further modified his production plans.

6. During the month of June 2015. in a train 'Pooja Express' going to Holy Shrine - Mata Vaishno
Devi.Few people in AC coach were evaluating the success of the Central Government, their
reforms, market scenario. Indian economy etc. Following are the extracts of their discussion: The
First said, "Competition is on the rise in the market. To face this problem, his company has
launched a Sales Promotion Scheme. According to this scheme, a customer who purchases goods
worth Rs. one lakh or more at one time will be given free a holiday package valued at rupees ten
thousand. The second drew their attention towards exploitation of the consumer in the market. He
said, 'Till this day, the sellers have been exploiting the consumers in more than one way. I feel that
the main cause of it was not raising any collective voice by the consumer against exploitation. But
now the Consumer Protection Act has made consumers aware of it and this problem is almost
over." Then, the third (who was a businessman) said, We are also under the pressure of consumer
satisfaction. We observe that those businessmen who feel this pressure are getting its
advantages." Finally, the Fourth said, "It is the duty of the businessman to keep the satisfaction of
the consumers in mind, because business is run by the resources made available to them by the
society."

8. Ballerina, a a greeting card, provided pre-written cards for every occasion. This formulae made
it more successful in USA. and UK. To get the benefit of the hi-tech consumer who make use of

it decided to enter France. But to their shock, as compared to their target of covering around 60%
of the young population, they could not even reach the figure of 10% as the people of France

message.

for quality conscious customers 100% cotton and linen garments are marketed. a. Identify and

13. ’i-phone lndia Ltd.’ is a manufacturer of advanced category of mobile phones. The company
trained its engineers from Japan. It markets its mobile phones domestically as well as
internationally. The company had a substantial market share and had a loyal customer following
because of quality of its i-phone. From the last financial year the company had been unable to
achieve its targets because of competition in the market. The company is planning to revamp its
controlling system.

14.Mr. Pradeep, the supervisor, in Ferro Ltd. is facing problems in achieving target output from the
workers as some of them are lethargic and report late to work. It is demotivating other workers
also. Pradeep discussed the matter with the production manager and the next day the notice board
of the factory area displayed information for all workers that any employee who reports late to work
for three consecutive days will have to work on following Sunday. This brought situation under
control and Pradeep saw that production was near to meet the target.

15. In the fierce battle with 'Amazon' and 'Flipkart' for supremacy in the Indian e-commerce space,
'Snapdeal' decided to reduce the marketing fee it charges from the online vendors on its portal and
have asked the vendors to lower the price so that it can shore up sales on its portal. Vendors have
agreed to this proposal as they are not likely to affect their incomes. In addition, it decided to
deliver the goods within a day to increase average purchase and getting towards profitability and
hired more employees preferably females and differently abled (Divyaang) persons.

for women including sarees and lehengas. His friend Surinder who is engaged in the business of

products online. Rajender agrees to his suggestion and decides to venture into online business,
keeping in view the various e-commerce regulations in order to avoid imposition of any penalty. In
order to facilitate the sale of his products, Rajender decides to offer multiple payment options such
as cash on delivery credit or debit card transactions, net banking to the buyers etc.

21.Ankit Ltd. is engaged in manufacturing electrical appliances. The company has been facing lots
of problems for the last few months .The sales department has received a huge order but the head
of production department is unable to produce it as the purchase department has no space to keep
raw materials.Hence they have stopped buying new: raw materials, The heads of all the
departments blame each other for not being able to meet the requirements of the order .Sudha
joined as a manager and consultant and found that it was important to complete the order.All the

policy in company is that women should be preferred to be appointed as head of every office..
Besides, under this policy, some positions shall he reserved for handicapped women also. The
head of every to office shall have the full authority to take decisions concerning the activities of

to be realised from them.

31. In a 40 minute long speech Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Demonetisation of
existing notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 during a televised address on 8th November 2016. This

which is directly related to corruption and also to eliminate fake currency used by terror groups.
The Reserve Bank of India laid down a detailed procedure for exchange of currency and the work
was distributed amongst the bank officials. The bank official worked with full commitment. They
worked for extended hours and also over the weekends to ensure speedy work process. However
they were reimbursed for the extra working hours. Income tax department also raided businesses
in Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and other cities that traded with demonetised currency.

32. After completing his post graduation, Aman opened a small beauty salon in a posh area of
Mumbai to earn his livelihood. In order to attract good customers, he decided to install a hair spa
machine in the salon. He bought the required machinery from a local manufacturer in Bandra for
50,000. Later on, he found that the steamer of the machinery was not working properly: Despite
many complaints, the defect was not rectified by the manufacturer. He was very disappointed and
wanted to take a legal action against the manufacturer not only to get compensation but also to
save other people from being cheated by the local manufacturer.

new one with latest technology. The new machinery had a greater production capacity and had to
operated using computer. At the time of its installation, the vendor explained the working to the
supervisor and the plant Manager, However, on using it, the workers could not operate it properly
that resulted in a lot of wastage of time and the resources which further led to the delay in order
processing within the specified period of time. The Plant Manager said that this problem could not
be solved unless and until they give hands on training to all the workers. Hence they arranged for
a vestibule training where the workers were made to work on a similar but less costlier machine so
that they may learn its operations.

41.Vivo Ltd. is it well known name of hospitality industry. It has a chain of hotels and restaurants.
Despite the tough competition in the hospitality sector, it has managed to establish itself in
Northern India. Its hotels always found fully booked during the holiday season and the restaurants
are flooded with customers most of the time. After running successfully for around ten years, it now
intends to make its presence felt in other parts of the country. Their expansion plan needs an
investment of around 400 crones. The entire team is now making the plans for the funds raising
activity. They have estimated that their fixed capital requirement will be around 300 crores, and the
remaining 100 crores will be required for meeting the overheads. They have plans to raise the
fixed capital by offering 10% debentures to the public through an online system of stock exchange.
For raising funds through these means will also involve some additional expenses in the terms of
underwriting fees, brokerage etc. For this, they decided to make use of short term ,negotiable
instrument that is economical substitute for bank borrowings.

and they are of very high quality. For six months of the year the company is almost without work
but the remaining six months it is busy in preparing almost 10 million sweaters for its customers in
different parts of the world. What do you think is going to be the working capital requirement of this
company? Why? 1

43.Raman Hotel in Kashmir was facing the problem of maintaining the workforce during off season.
The management did not want-to lose regular employees, by retrenching them, to cut down the
costs. Mr. Raman, the director of the hotel; formed a joint management committee in which the
senior most workers were involved. ,On the recommendation of the committee, he offered the
employees a loyalty bonus in terms of half a month's salary for each month during the off season
provided, they rejoined the hotel during the tourist season. This not only provided job security to
employees but also helped them to earn additional income by working elsewhere during the off

initiative by a group of young management experts. The company has entered in the domain of
providing online selling. Many new companies have also entered after seeing them enter this mode
of business and many of these companies are foreign in origin The companies dealing in online
business know that in today's world customer has lots of options. The customer is no more
dependent on a single company for the product he requires. This has empowered the customer
who has more choices and the result is a fragmented market. The companies selling with
monopoly in the market are the stories of the past. The products offered by the companies are
going through different type of technological changes. The companies are trying to give variety of
products which are technologically advanced. 'Order Online' is a company which is right now
selling 250 products online. Recently, it tried to increase the number of products to be sold by 25
but it realised that many of these products were not allowed by the government to be sold in their
territory.

45. Mr. Shuhbendu Bose is the owner of Tikmac Enterprises' carrying on the business of
manufacturing various kinds of biscuits. There was a lot of discontentment in the organisation and
the targets were not being met. He asked his son, Naval, who had recently completed his MBA to
find out the reason. Naval found that all decision making of the enterprise were in the hands of his
father. His father didn't believe in his employees . As a result the employer and the employees
were not able to understand each other messages in the same sense. Thus, the employees were
not happy and targets were not met.
Identify any two communication barriers because of which Enterprises was not able to achieve its

46.Jasvir opened a showroom of mobile phones selling new as well as second hand phone with
repairing services. He employed 15 persons in his showroom. For greater productivity, he divided
the work into small tasks and each employee was trained to perform his/her specialized job. The
sales persons are allowed to close a deal with a buyer by giving a maximum of 10% discounts;
whereas the decision to give any further discounts is with Jasvir, as the final authority. In the earlier
days of starting of the business, five of his employees were asked to put in extra, hours of work. In
return, he had promised to give them a special incentive within an year. Therefore, after six
months, when the business was doing well, he awarded a cash bonus to each of these employees
to honour his commitment. However, when it comes to settling the conflicts among his employees,
he tends to be more biased towards his male employees.Identify and explain any three principles

53. Faulty works Inc. has a very dynamic Plant Superintendent, Amit, who is fond of dealing with
tough situations. He is a perfectionist who believes in doing quality management. Every week he
prepares a schedule which helps in minimization of wastage of efforts and time of the department.
He however is upset with the cutthroat competition among the employees which is having a
negative impact on the production. Even after all such problems he is managing the situation very
well. On 26th Feb he informs his boss that the target given to him has been achieved and with the
best quality. The best part was that still two days were remaining for the dead line to be over which
was28th Feb. However his boss was not pleased as the cost incurred by his team for the
completion of project is more than the allowed limit.
