Fall 2019 Career Fair is happening on October 8

SAN MARCOS, Texas - Secure your next job in Media, Communication, or Design, at the Texas
State Career Services Career Fair on October 8 from 12-4 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center
Ballroom.

The event is free for everyone. The Job Fair will connect attendees to industry professionals
and open doors to opportunities in different fields including media, communication and design.

“The Career Fair is a perfect opportunity for students to take a step forward in their careers and
connect with professionals. Employers from GSD&M, Edelman, APCO Worldwide will be there
and looking for capable students,” said Charles Kaufman, senior lecturer for the TXST School of
Journalism and Mass Communication.

There are several ways students can appropriately prepare for a job fair:
1. Dress your Best- Dress business casual to business formal. Texas State offers
a Career Closet with free clothes for students to borrow. The Career Closet is
open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but will be closed
during the job fair, so be sure to go before October 8.
2. Print a Resume- Bring a paper resume for potential job offers. Be sure that the
resume has been recently updated and double check for spelling and grammar
errors.
3. Elevator Speech- Form an elevator speech. An elevator speech is a 30 second
speech about who you are, any training or education you have, and why you are
good for the job.
4. Research, Research, Research- Do your research. Be an informed student
about the organization, and have questions ready for employers.
5. Relax and breathe.

You can find current information about the Job Fair on the Career Fair Plus app in the app store
or the google play store. You can also contact Career Services at CareerServices@txstate.edu
