spin echo vs gradient echo for heart:

spin echo
- black blood
- better resolution (used for anatomy)
- little artifact from metal
- longer acquisition
- single breath hold per image
- double inversion recovery sequence supresses blood flow

gradient echo
- bright blood
- fast (used for function)
- metal artifact

inversion recovery
- usually TI=330ms
- TI scout is obtained which has larger TI on every image
- PSIR does not require a TI scout image
