Note the following:
In German the verb is the central element in a sentence. The form of the verb
changes according to whether it is used in the first, second or third person.
ist = the third person singular of the verb sein (to be)
sein = the infinitive form of the verb. This is the form in which verbs
are listed in a dictionary.
das ist = this is, that is. This expression is used to indicate objects
or to introduce people.

is by:

reciting a counting rhyme. After that you bear part of a news broadcast, a song
and finally, an excerpt from a well-known work of literature, Goethe's “Faust”
