Reflection on Recollection
We had our recollection last Oct. 16, 2019 and it was held at the Devesse AVR. Our speaker
that time was Brother Rolan and he has taught us many things that really remain in our hearts
and minds. The main topics we talked about were freedom and love. When you hear those words,
you would probably say that it is very common and shallow but we never knew that it was more
than what it is. Those words are broad in the sense that it covers a lot under the sun.

First is freedom. Everyone has his own freedom. It means that you can di what you want,
say what you want. However, there are exemptions for that. Freedom doesn't just mean like that.
You must not use that freedom to do sinful acts. There was the verse emphasized by Bro Rolan
saying "You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the
sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love." It depicts in that verse that freedom is not just
being free to do whatever you want to do just because you are free to do so. Being free must
come with the right and moral actions towards the people around you. So the right action to do
is to think right and do it in the right way.

Another one is love. They say that love must be given to everyone regardless of age, race,
status, sexuality and more. I absolutely agree with that. In our recollection, Bro Rolan expressed
his love to everyone by simply being the speaker on that event. He was very willing to share what
he knew and taught us about how life should be lived. By spreading the gospel, our pure intention
is to introduce it to people who don't know God yet. In that way, we are helping people to draw
themselves closer to God. For me, that is one of the purest ways of showing love to others. We
must not limit our love to people close to us but rather, we must love everyone as we love
ourselves. By doing so, you are emulating God's love and that is the right thing to do; to love
others just like how God loves us. But before loving anyone in this world, we must love our God
first with all our hearts, soul and minds. Because before everything and everyone made it into
existence, God is already there for us. He died for us because he loves us despite our flaws and a
sinful way of living.
