The Hull note

 By the year 1941, US increased the pressure in Japan due to this note
 The Hull note was named by the US Secretary of State Cordell Hull.
 This note demanded that Japan should:
o Remove troops from Indochina, including Manchuria
o Ends it participation in the Tripartite Alliance
o Repudiate the Republic of China that Japan had create, headed by
Wang Jingwei
 Despite this two week later, Japan attacked the US and British forces all across
the pacific

Pearl Harbor and the pacific


 Japan launched a large scale of highly organized attacks and invasions to
different targets
 The main target of Japan was the US naval base in the territory of Hawaii
 The Attack on Pearl Harbor:
o On December 7, six Japanese aircraft carriers launched 353 aircraft of
several types.
o This attacked the US navy ships, airfields, aircraft and other facilities
with torpedoes, bombs and machine gun fire
o The effect that this attack had in US was:
 Damaged four battleships and sank four others
 Damaged and sank three cruisers, three destroyers and two
other naval vessels
 Destroyed 188 aircraft
 Killed over 2400 people and injured 1200 others
o The effect that Japan had on this attack was:
 Twenty aircraft destroyed
 Five small submarines sunk
 65 man killed
 The day after this attack, the US declared war against Japan, which it would
eventually lead to Japan’s surrender in August 1945

 While Pearl Harbor was being attacked, Japan attacked other territories such as
o Phillipines: Attacked by air on 8 December
o Island of Guam: Attacked on 8 December by aircraft
o Wake island: Attacked on 8 December by aircraft
Attacks on British territories
 Japan attacked British territories in Asia:
o Malaya: Attacked on 8 December by aircraft
o Singapore: Captured by mid-February 1942
