INTRODUCTION

Hydropower is among the most effective innovation for producing renewable electrical
energy, with a typical efficiency of 90% or better for, “water-to-wire” (Killingtveit,
2019). During 2011, hydropower provide 16 percent of the world’s power, ranking
second after non-renewable resources. Hydroelectric energy or hydropower is a
significant component of electricity production worldwide, power is produced by falling
water or running water. It comes from large rivers and dams that causes the water to
move from higher to lower elevation. The moving water then makes the blades of the
turbine rotate which spins a generator that will convert the energy.

It is widely distributed and sent to homes and buildings. Do you know that there are
countries that get their source of energy from dams? The largest producer of this power
is China followed by Canada, Brazil and United States of America. This is a renewable
resource where it is more reliable and validated over time, has low operations and
conservation cost. Hydroelectric power has a huge part in demoting greenhouse gas
emissions because the power plant does not produce smoke from machines. There is also
three types of hydroelectric power plants: impoundment facility that controls the flow of
water for the energy that will be needed, diversion facility that uses canals as a channel
for the water to flow and lastly the pumped-storage facility that composes other
renewable resources for producing energy. The process on how this energy is
manufactured is by the water from reservoir and flows through penstock , the pressure or
steam will cause the turbine to rotate and will generate electricity
