Q.

ENLIST PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT PARAMETERS OF DRIVE AND

EXPLAIN AVERAGE ACCESS TIME AND DATA TRANSFER RATE?
ANS- The major performance measurement parameters of the drives are: -
 Access time of data
 Data transfer rate
 Power consumption
 Shock resistibility
 Effective in data storage

Average access time: - The access time or response time of a rotating

drive is a measure of the time it takes before the drive can actually
transfer data. The factors that control this time on a rotating drive are
mostly related to the mechanical nature of the rotating disks and moving
heads.

Data transfer rates: - The data transfer rate is the amount of digital data
that is moved from one place to another in a given time. The data
transfer rate can be viewed as the speed of travel of a given amount of
data from one place to another. And commonly measured as bytes per
second.
