Workout Requirements Each group will have 15 minutes of dryland before they get in the water. Allathletes must be in appropriate dryland attire: running shoes, shorts/sweats, and a t-shirt/sweatshirt Equipment needed: # Kickboard © Fins + Hand paddles (Bronze 2/3 only) Pull buoy (Bronze 2/3 only) ‘+ Water/Gatorade * Please write first and last name on all pieces of equipment. * Ss Meets Swim meets are offered at least once a month and are mainly held at WAC as intra-squad meets, but ‘we do participate in few committee meets as well. There are na meet requirements for the Bronze program; however coaches highly suggest that swimmers attend as many meetsas possible, especialy if they have goals of moving up. » per NOVA policy, once the team submits all athlete entries fora swim meet, all participating, family accounts will be charged the meet entry fee and cannot be refunded. * ‘Swim Meet Declaration ‘To register your athlete to an event/swim meet: Log into your account on www.novaquaties.com, Click the Event & Meet Info tab Find the appropriate event/meet Click Edit Commitment button (upper right hand corner) Select your athlete's name Using the scroll tab select (yes/no) ‘© Inthe Notes section please write which day(s) you can attend Ifyou request any event(s) for your athlete, please be aware that they will be taken into consideration but the coach will make the final decision on events, Checking Meet Events ‘To check what events your athlete is swimining in at the swim meet: «Log into your account on www.novaquatics.com ‘© Hover your mouse over the Event & Meet Info tab and select Entry Information Select Meet Entry Information ‘+ Select the appropriate swim meet + Scroll dawn and find your athlete (last name, first name) Fora Swim Meet Apparel: + NOVA Speedo brand navy blue Lycra suit NOVA team swim cap (boys and girls) © NOVA team shirt (white and blue) Goggles (at least 2 pairs) Other swim meet essentials: + Towels, * Clothing and shoes/boots (warm clothes for the cold months) © Nutritious/healthy snacks and drinks (water /gatorade) * A parent or guardian must accompany your athlete while ata swim meet. Noathlete should be left alone/dropped off ata swim meet. * Before a Swim Meet ‘The week of a swim meet, an email will be sent from the team to inform you and your athlete: = Check-in time © Warm-up time Ata Swim Meet ‘When your athlete arrives to a swim meet, they will first need to check-in to the swim meet atthe checkcintable, Asa team, all athletes will then warm-up according to age/group. During the swim meet, your athlete must: © Check-in with their coach BEFORE thelr eventwith their heat # and lane #. At this time the coach will give them some tips/reminders for the race. ‘= Check-in with their coach AFTER their event with their time, Atthis time the coach will go over the race. «= Inbetween events, your athlete may be asked to either warm-up for their event or doan easy swim afterwards, This is to keep your athlete well prepared for their events. Time Standards ‘Time standards are used to gauge a swimmer’s performance. The slowest time standard Is called a "White’ time; the next standard is called a ‘Red’ time; and the next standard is called a ‘Blue’ time. ‘These are the most common time standards in relation to the Bronze program. For the full list of all time standards for every age group and gender, you can visit the Southern California Swimming. website at: www.socalswim.org, ‘There s also a Time Standards book that can be purchased at the NOVA office. Move-ups/Age-ups Bronze Mave-ups (ag. Bronze 1 to Bronze 2) Athletes may move up within Bronze throughout the season. ‘+ Move-ups will usually take place one week after each swim meet. Silver Move-ups: ‘Silver move-ups will only take place in September and March. Age-ups (eg. 9/10 to 11/12): ‘= Age-ups will take place throughout the season when the Coach feels tis appropriate, + You will be notified via email if/when your athlete is being moved to a different group. * Team Apparel & Swim gear - Where to Purchase them ‘Team apparel and other swim gear can be purchased at CAS - Competitive Aquatles Supply.
