„Scale Model Aircraft” – C-2A Grumman Greyhound 1/14 Scale

The C-2A Grumman Greyhound is my favorite aircraft. This is based on the special function of
the aircraft as well as so much different technical smart solution and great engineering ideas.
As tactical people mover, taxi, VIP service, mail and express cargo delivery as well as special
roles like parachute air dropping as well as MEDIVAC.

My basic information is coming from the “Basic Aircraft Data from Grumman Engineering
Drawing D-MOD-1017 / Issued 10-5-66 for a display model”
Other available information over an intensive internet research like the NATOPS flight manual
A1-C2AHA-NFM-00 / Sept. 1991.
In total, I guess I have around 3 to 4000 digital images of the aircraft. Mostly too small to get
precise information out of it.
The few data I have were used to make a 2D drawing, an
There I used also these sketches as basic information. (See below)
Based on this information and much more different images I designed the parts in 3D with the
software Geomagic (full STEP/IGS Interface).
Here my 3D results as rendering so far.
However, I still need more information and some real data. At least a few dimension would be
great to get close to my scale of 1/14.
The goal is to have full function front and main landing gear. Instead of hydraulic, I will use an
electric step motor to simulate the function. The parts will be produced with rapid prototype
and milling of aluminum.
You’ll see that at the front I have no idea of the casting who connect the main rod to the wheel.
I work right now on the tail for the catapult as well as the support from the back to the catapult.

Drawn from photos of the front wheel. But I have no length or any dimension information.
For example the front landing gear / Scale 1/14 Dimension 1:1 scale “METRIC !”
Sketch examples.
The only data are coming from the wheel.
Except some basic data from the first version of the front landing gear.

I got this information from a structure test of the landing gear for catapult use. (Metric Data 1/14 Scale)

From the round blue circle FS/WL 0/0 as overlay over my scetch.
Some more details from the connection to the catapult.
