PREFACE

This study hopes to find the importance of the intervention program that will
be introduced among the struggling readers of Grades 7 and 8. It also aims to
give students the interest in reading very short and simple stories that will be
given by the teachers through the use of localized version of stories where
students can truly relate.
In order for the said module to become effective, the following parts of every
activity must be done:

1. Modeling the Correct Reading. This will be done by the teachers in order
for the students to learn how to read the story properly. The teacher may
read the story several times until the students understand the story.

2. Reading Aloud. This is to be done by a volunteer or volunteers from the

class. Every student shall be given the chance to read with the teacher’s
intervention.

3. Whole- Class Reading. All students will read the stories in order to
ensure mastery of the story.

4. Pre-test. The teacher will instruct the students to answer the given
questions. The teacher will provide guidance during the conduct of the
short exam.

5. Breaking of Barriers. The teacher will provide intervention among the

students in giving the meaning of the words or phrases.

6. Empathizing. The teacher will facilitate in finding connection between the

local characters’ experiences and students’ understanding about the world.
This is the part where discussion and appreciation take place.

7. Post Test. The students will take the same questions given during the
pre-test. The results will be compared and assessed whether the
intervention activities are effective.

8. Deciding Point. The teacher will determine whether the students are
ready for the next story or remediation.
