Where I See Myself in Five Years

Five years from now I see myself accomplishing many of the goals I am currently

working towards achieving and completing right now. Five years in the future I see myself as a

graduate of Siena Heights University with a degree in Applied Mathematics (with a Psychology

Minor). I also see myself at some point entering a master’s program at a university where I will

study some math-related field, hopefully with a teaching assistantship. During this five-year span

I will complete my master’s program in approximately two years. Based on my experiences from

my master’s program I will consider either pursuing a Doctoral degree or going into some type

of industry job. Should I choose to enter the workforce, I see myself pursuing data analysis or

statistical analysis related jobs. Ideally, I could see myself being a sports statistician for some

college or professional basketball league.

In order to reach my goal of either being in a doctoral program or being a sports statistician,

I will need to become more familiar and more comfortable with various coding languages. I will

also need to become familiar with how and where to get the data sets I will use in my analysis. In

addition, I will need to become familiar with additional statistical analysis programs such as Stata,

R, and possibly Microsoft Access. Finally, some of the skills I will need include being able to

model my work in a way which makes it easy for others to understand, as well as having the

communication skills to be able to explain to others what my results and interpretations mean.
