Corporate social responsibility, often abbreviated "CSR," is

a corporation's initiatives to assess and take responsibility for the company's

effects on environmental and social wellbeing

CSR may also be referred to as "corporate citizenship" and can involve incurring short-
term costs that do not provide an immediate financial benefit to the company, but instead
promote positive social and environmental change.

Proponents argue that corporations increase long-term profits by operating with a CSR
perspective, while critics argue that CSR distracts from businesses' economic role

Most consumers agree that while achieving business targets, companies should engage in CSR
efforts at the same time.[17] Most consumers believe companies doing charity work will receive a
positive response.[18]Somerville also found that consumers are loyal and willing to spend more on
retailers that support charity. Consumers also believe that retailers selling local products will gain
loyalty

The concept of "corporate social responsibility" (CSR) has been introduced into our country
through the activities of foreign invested multinational companies in Vietnam.

In recent years, there have been a number of enterprises active in implementing CSR and their
brands have become known to the public, such as Mai Linh, Tan Tao, Duy Loi, ACB,
Sacombank , Kinh Do, ...

Meanwhile, most Vietnamese enterprises do not have available resources to invest in CSR; And
if they do CSR, they rarely get the attention of the media and consumers as well. Therefore,
most of the activities related to social responsibility of Vietnamese enterprises are still seasonal
and have not become core. Besides supporting children in the company, Vinamilk also recruits
qualified students in universities in Vietnam to study abroad. Through the policy of attracting
talented people, Vinamilk has not only trained the good dairy engineers but also "accidentally"
implemented a CSR strategy aimed at laborers and the community..
