MOVIE: “IT”

By: Angie Yuliana Lugo and Diego Gaona

“It” is a remake of one of the most terrifying films, based on one of Stephen King's books. We
chose this film because Pennywise (Who is the Clown Killer) is the representation of the deepest
fears of childhood and a manifestation of evil in the world. This is very interesting to us because at
the end of the film it stands out as friendship and self-confidence without enough to defeat the
clown.

It also shows how we can overcome our fears and face them. After all, all the monsters and
manifestations of the clown are largely a product of children's minds.

The synopsis of the film could be summarized in that is a movie of horror that account the history
of a group of guys that are a terrorized for an evil monster named “IT”, able of change of form. But
his costume most common is the clown, named also “the clown dancer” with wich it attracts his
victims which terrifies until death. The clown is confronted two times with the protagonist of the
history, they are seven guys, they are called “the losers” his names are: Bill Denbrough, Ben
Hanscom, Beverly Marsh, Richie Toller, Eddie Kaspbrak, mike Hanlon and Stan Uris.

It all starts when one day little Georgie As he played during a rainy storm afternoon, he supposedly
disappears washed away by a flood. From that moment on, the disappearances of children and
teenagers in the city follow one another without anyone being able to find any trace of the apparent
indifference of the population. However, Bill, who was not Georgie's sister, who feels responsible
for the event, will make every effort to locate his brother, aided by his friends, will use the summer
to find any clue that leads them to discover that it was Georgie.

This movie has some very suspenseful scenes where the clown appears in different stages, where is
manifest in each situation of the losers. The childs were joined for combat the clown. The city in
which the film was shot is in a fictional town in Derry, Maine, has appeared or has been named in
many of Stephen King's works and some of his adaptations. The city is based in the royal locality of
Bangor, Maine, where the writer lives.

The moment most fearful of the movie are the hands on fire where appear many hands for all the
door and the other scene fearful is the room of dolls. Other scene we liked was when henry bowers
kills his father with a knife while he was asleep. This scene is very strong. The movie have
moments very sad too.

Our favorite scene in the film is the moment when Wyatt Oleff, one of the children, has to face his
own fear, the picture of a mysterious woman holding a flute.
The scene begins when Wyatt is reading a book and his father asks him to take it to his office. He
takes the book and enters the office, covering his eyes with one hand to avoid seeing the woman's
picture, then turns to see it and realizes it is crooked and puts it in place. Then he walks by and
leaves the book in the library and listens as the picture falls. The light goes out and Wyatt goes to
pick up the painting and hang it up again. When he puts it on the wall, he realizes that the woman
has disappeared and he begins to hear a flute melody. An object falls and he turns around, suddenly
the face of the deformed woman appears.

We liked this scene because, first, the visual effects are terrifying and second, we observe how a
child's fear becomes reality. It reminds us of our childhood and how we were frightened by objects
that for others were insignificant, but for us it was the reason for our nightmares.

The most interesting thing about the film is that in scenes similar to this one. It leaves the feeling of
how real it is and where it begins to children's imagination. It's an aspect that plays with the mind
when we watch the film.

Finally we would recommend this film for its plot and for being a work of the incredible writer
Stephen King's. It is a film to analyze and goes beyond a horror story. The traditional style of terror
and the psychological aspects that appear make it a film that cannot go unnoticed.
