the first EXS software instrument is made from a

Sibelius woodwind groups (piccolo oboe clarinet saxophones) and the shape of this figure is a
running line going down. In the project, I play mostly random chromatic scale on MIDI keyboard
and forms a cluster of sound. The second EXS software instrument is made from logic
instrument within. But I add glide effect. I find out the Sound of it only last for a short time and
then it seems evolve in its own way. That’s way I treat the first EXS instrument in 2 ways-----one
is with several automation, the other is just reverb. In order to form a structure, I place the
“woodwind running down” instrument with reverb intermittently when the “glide figure” stop
its consistency.
There’s 2 kind of recorded sound in this piece. The first one is long notes and the second one
is sound effect. The hymn-like long notes forms a counterpoint and the sound effect is purely
decoration, acting as another layer against the EXSs.
I use 3 software instruments as a turning point of this work. The vide of the first half is gloomy
and dark. But I use Jazz as a contrasting style to make it interesting. The electronic piano is the
main instrument and the string as a free counterpoint based on the electronic piano. The
sculpture is decoration. I simply improvise the electronic piano first and do the same process
based what I heard.
The elements of the first half are reduced to only “running down” acting as a reminiscent of
the darkness while such warm jazz sound happening. I choose the high range of the “running
down” instrument in order to create the contrast too.
