About Me

My name is Muhammad Mufti Al Achsan. My friends usually call me Achsan. I was

born in Temanggung, on June 30th 1994, so now I’m 25 years old. I have many hobbies, like
playing futsal, playing guitar, listening to music, singing, watching movie, reading, and reciting
the holy quran. But most my all day time I use it for watching and reading. The genres of the
movies that I like are colossal, romance, action, mystery, and comedy, but the most is colossal
movie, because it often contains many historical information and value, while the books that
always make me interested, include; quranic commentary, history, philosophy, and fiqh.

I have one brother and sister. My brother, Burhan, is a student of Islamic Senior High
School of Temanggung. My little sister, Salma, is a student of Elementary School. My father,
Rohadi, is a head master of Mu’allimin Senior High School, while my mother, Rofiqoh, is an
Islamic history teacher in Junior High School.

Now, I’m a graduate student of State Islamic Unversity of Sunan Kalijaga. My major is
Islamic Studies and my concern is on Religion Comparison. My undergraduate major was
Quranic Studies, and at that time, my thesis discussed about the concept of salvation of other
religion in the quran. I chose this theme because, as a moslem, what I knew that most of the
peoples around me considered that followers of other religion have no chance to join to heaven.

When I started to study in this college, I read some books, and found that some of the
professor thought that it was not right. Peoples of other religion also have a chance to join to
heaven. The quran said that. From that, I have an interest on studying about other religion. So
far, I have studied about it, but based on the quran only, and if there is a chance, I want to learn
more. Then, my next thesis proposal discusses about how the Temanggung local scholar
understanding on fiqh of pluralism when they facing the various problems in the plural society.

I have a dream to be Islamic thinker, researcher, and philosopher. So, my first favorite
figure is Ibn Rusyd. He spent all of his time for knowledge. He wrote many books, and of course,
I want to be a philosopher like him. The second one is Abdurrrahman Wahid, Father of
Indonesian Pluralism. He’s famous to be called Gus Dur. He has many contributions to this
country, especially in defending the minority.
