Chinese landscape

The painting shown beside demonstrates asymmetrical

balance. The use of a the dark black in the center part of the
painting (mountain and the trees) completely dominates the
work but is still balanced out by the parallel emptiness of
the white background.

The objects in the painting were in proportion for as we can

see, the trees in the right side are bigger compared to the
trees in the left side but smaller compared to the mountain.
This create an illusion that the trees in the right area are
near to the viewers while the rest are very far.

In order to create depth and volume to the painting, we can

see that the painter uses color to create contrast. The way
he uses black with different kind of weight depicts that
those objects with dark color are the focus of the painting.
The fogs where in white creating a highlight to the mountain
above and trees below.

Moreover, the painting creates harmony and unity through

the use of texture and color. The mountains and some trees
are painted in rough texture and uses dark color while the
rest are painted with soft textures in faint color, thus
creating a subtle emotions to the viewer.

Overall, the painting gives the viewer the whole picture of

the mountainside early in the morning.
