ABSTRACT

A department store is a building open to the public, offering a wide range of

consumer goods. It typically allows shoppers to choose between multiple
merchandise lines, at variable price points, in different product categories
known as "departments". Our main objective is to get acquire knowledge in
analysis and designing of departmental store building. Department stores
usually sell a variety of products, including clothing, furniture, home
appliances, toys, cosmetics, gardening, toiletries, sporting goods, paint and hard
ware additionally other lines of products such as food, books, jewellery,
electronics, stationery, photographic equipment and baby needs. It is usually
situated near a residential area in order to be convenient to consumers. Its basic
appeal is the availability of a broad selection of goods under a single roof, at
relatively low prices. Several dead loads and live load are imposed on columns,
beams, and slab. Necessary building drawing showing the plan, front elevation
are prepared. We prepared our project plan with AUTO CAD software. The
analysis and the designing of structure such as slab, beam, column and footing
is carried out by limit state method with the IS 456: 2000 Code book
specification and also using STADD PRO software. The design is checked for
its maximum capacity to guarantee its safety.
