As part of De La Salle University’s Job Expo 2019: Sharpen Your Arrows, a representative
from Globe Telecom held a company talk last July 19 at Y407-408. The speaker, Mr. Maurice
Ryan Bevera, is part of Globe’s Employer Branding and Recruitment Marketing team. His
presentation centered on introducing Globe as the leading communications company in the country
and one of the best workplaces in Asia. This paper will present the effectivity of the company talk
in encouraging undergraduate students from De La Salle University to apply for job positions in
The speaker first gave an overview on what Globe is as a company and as an employer. He
mentioned that despite being known as the number one mobile brand in the Philippines, it now
wants to be recognized as a “Digital Organization.” This led him to compare and contrast Globe’s
once traditional approach of being product and promotion-centered and its shift to becoming more
experiential by partnering with other service providers to cater to consumer passion points. The
audience was then presented with Globe’s new ventures namely, 0917 its fashion and lifestyle
brand, Globe Live for events, and Globe Studios for film and media production. Finally,
opportunities for DLSU students were offered by utilizing audio-visual presentations to show the
The talk was concise and very straight to the point. The speaker was able to keep the
audience members engage all throughout as he was well aware that most of them were all excited
to go home, especially on a Friday. His manner of speaking and establishing rapport made him
sound credible, engaging, and inviting. Based on the audience’s reactions, the talk’s objective was
met as many showed their interest in applying for Globe’s programs during the Q&A. The
presentation itself was helpful in getting a glimpse of what it is like as an employee of Globe.
Infographics, photos and videos were vital tools in easily explaining the topic. If there was
something negative to mention, it is the way the organizers of the talk handled the event. Long
lines were formed at the halls of Yuchengco’s 4th floor due to registration. There was no proper
system for people who pre-registered and for those who did not. The number of participants was
also underestimated which led people to bring chairs from outside the venue or just simply stand
at the back. The equipment such as the projector, wired microphone, and audio could be improved
Overall, Globe’s company talk was able to re-introduce Globe - its products and services -
in a fresh perspective. Its collaboration with DLSU Careers and Services showed the company’s
eagerness and interest in further developing itself with the help of Lasallian graduates. Ultimately,
it was able to sell itself as a brand and as a future employer to DLSU students from various colleges
and degree programs by giving them the option to pursue a career with Globe Telecom.
