Rooftop solar System

Rooftop solar is one of the methods to harness abundantly available solar

energy. The major advantage is that setting up the system requires no separate

premise or space unlike other method of renewal source of energy.

The urban environment provides a large amount of empty rooftop spaces

and can inherently avoid the potential land use and environmental concerns.

Estimating rooftop solar installation is a multi-faceted process, as installation

values in rooftops are impacted by Latitude, Weather conditions, Roof slope,

Roof aspect, Shading from adjacent buildings and vegetation.

The solar system is advantageous over the other renewable method due

to its simplicity in operation and maintenance. A medium sized household in India

consumes about 200W power to fulfil its daytime demand in operating fans,

barring other loads. This demand can be achieved by installing required capacity

of solar panel in the consumer premise itself. Another major advantage is that

the space for installation is available at no additional cost.

One of the hidden advantages in rooftop installations is the reduction in

heat influx in to the buildings as majority of the incidence on panel is getting

reflected back. This effect in turn reduces the demand of operating a fan at

full capacity.

The large scale rooftop installation in an industrial building caters

significantly in bringing down operation cost of centralised air conditioning

system. On the security point of view, household installations are the vulnerable

segment. Due to this reason, many of the individual consumers are having

secondary opinion and importance to rooftop solar installations.

Promotion of Solar Plant in Agricultural Sector

Power in agriculture is mainly used for irrigation purpose. Nowadays most of the

agricultural system is dependent either on open well of tube well as source of

water.

To fulfil the power requirement, the distribution network has to be extended

till the consumption location, construction, operation and maintenance of

distribution network itself is a revenue consuming activity. Besides that open

transmission of electricity itself is a hazardous thing during line breakage and

falling in the fields.

As an alternative source, solar power (either on / off grid) promises efficient

and continuous source of energy to operate pumps for agricultural system. By

sparing few square meters of agricultural land, the power supply to the

agricultural purpose can be ensured consistently.

This method can also save the resources invested in extending power supply to

agricultural purpose.
Proposal for Solar Thermal

Subject: Proposal for the installation of 1MW Solar Thermal Power Plant.

Our proposal is built on proven success based methodologies for

generation of electricity by solar energy. Based on the application of parabolic

reflectors to collect solar energy and convert it into electricity.

According to the increasing demand of different Renewable sources of

energy, this project is about the installation of a 1MW solar thermal energy

power plant to generate electricity. This will not only fulfil the requirement of

electricity with cost efficient and also generate more electricity as compared

to a normal PV solar cell. This plant is installed in such a way to without

environmental damage.

Solar Energy Can Be Used for Heat and Electricity:

When converted to thermal (or heat) energy, solar energy can be used to:

Heat water —for use in homes, buildings, or swimming pools

Heat spaces —inside homes, greenhouses, and other buildings

Heat fluids —to high temperatures to operate a turbine to generate electricity

Solar Thermal/Electric Power Plants generate electricity by

concentrating solar energy to heat a fluid and produce steam that is used to

power a generator. Solar thermal power currently leads the way as the most

cost-effective solar technology on a large scale. It currently beats other PV

systems, and it also can beat the cost of electricity from fossil fuels such as
natural gas. In terms of low-cost and high negative environmental impact,

nothing competes with coal.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Installation of 1MW of Solar Thermal Power Plant

in a place.

SCOPE:

The provisions of this proposal shall specify the use of energy sources other

than our conventional sources which is almost on the verge of becoming extinct.

So, this kind of energy generation methods will act like replacement for the

conventional sources.

LIMITATIONS:

The amount of sunlight that arrives at the Earth's surface is not constant. It

varies depending on location, time of day, time of year, and weather conditions.

Because the sun doesn't deliver that much energy to any one place at any one

time, a large surface area is required to collect the energy at a useful rate.

AIM: Installation of 1KW Solar Thermal Power Plant.

OBJECTIVES :

 To control environmental pollution

 Preserve the Non Renewable source of energy like petrol, diesel etc.

 Own, operate, develop & manage both grid connected & off grid solar

installations including rooftops.

 To promote integrated power generation projects of solar with

conventional & renewable sources.
