Course:

2018 Term II
1. Choose idea/s of research that will be developed throughout the
course. Ask research questions.
 Alternatives of ecological mobility: to be able to develop a transport free of
greenhouse gases, in this way take care of the environment making use of electrical
energy.
- Research question:
What is the economic investment required to exchange 4 traditional busses for 4
electric busses during 2019?
 Renewable energy and sustainable energy: they are inexhaustible sources of
energy that help to combat climate change without producing greenhouse gases,
turning it into a potential for exploitation.
- Research question
What is the relevance of renewable and sustainable energy in islands with a limited
amount of resources?
Would hydroelectric power plants be the best source of power to guarantee the most
adequate power?

2. Select a scientific article (in line with your research idea) and
answer the following questions:
Article: Integration of transport and energy sectors in island communities with
100% intermittent renewable energy sources
What are the objectives of the investigation?

According to the article, the objectives of the investigation are:

I. Optimize of supply capacities in order to achieve carbon neutrality.

II. Incorporate vehicle-to-grid with 100% share, including the ferry line.
III. Case study of Island of Korčula in Croatia.

What are the research questions?

1. What is the relevance of renewable energy and sustainable energy in

Islands with a limited amount of resources?
2. How to merge energy technologies and energy resources to reduce the
climate change?
3. What it will be the best power supply that guarantee the most suitable
power?

What is the justification?

Many islands have been problems about energy supply and energy security
associated with a high dependency on imported fossil fuels. Besides, if this
dependency continues, it will not reduce the pollution that is increase around the
world. In fact, it will contribute to the climate change. Nowadays, the renewable
based energy technologies allow achieving energy self-sufficient islands.
