DESCRIPTION OF THE COMMUNITY

Based from website of Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP), the Adventist

University of the Philippines is located in Puting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite, Philippines, on the

boundary of the province of Laguna – 50 kilometers or about an hour’s drive by car from

Manila. The 165-hectare university is on an elevated area overlooking Laguna de Bay.

Historically, the school formally opened on June 12, 1917, with 24 boys and 12 girls.

However, when it became developed – offering a lot of courses and became popular by its

teachings, thousands of students from different countries decided to study in the university up

until now. Moreover, on August 1, 1996, in accordance with Republic Act (RA) No. 7722 and by

the virtue of Resolution No. 132-96, Series of 1996, the Commission on Higher Education

(CHED) granted PUC University Status entailing the change of the school’s name

from Philippine Union College to Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP).

The university is affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church and holds an

autonomous status recognized by the CHED (Commission on Higher Education). It is a part of

the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second largest Christian school system.

The administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church unwaveringly

rally behind Adventist University of the Philippines in its commitment to its Mission, Vision,

Philosophy, and calling to “Shine on Forever.” The school have 25 different buildings and

facilities that provides convenience to people and gives opportunity for every student to study

their desired courses. And it also has a good ambiance that can be savor by the people living in

this community.
