Learning strategies are the actions of students in their

learning to achieve learning

destination. Chamot (2004) states that learning strategies
are as important as students
thoughts and actions to achieve learning objectives.
Listening is the ability we get
since we were born to process and understand hearing
sounds correctly. this
training at an early age for the process of compiling all
individual learning (Gulec
& Durmus, 2015).
The use of metacognitive strategies in listening allows
students to play
active role in their learning process, including being better
at processing and storing
new information. It also allows students to manage and
find the best way to do it
practice and reinforce what they have learned.
Metacognition is a process in
where humans actively monitor, control and also plan
cognitive
the process of achieving cognitive goals (Flavell in
Alhaisoni 2017). That reflects
think about students when they are involved in learning
languages. Metacognitive ability
is a mental characteristic possessed by successful
students.

Based on preliminary observations, the researcher found several problems students had in

listen. A common problem students face in listening to foreign languages is that they are often confused

when listening to speakers, if the text contains a lot

then information is not easy to keep everything in mind. Sometimes not

get to know a few words from the speaker and a lack of vocabulary. They also lack

concentration, they quickly forget what was heard and miss the beginning

part of the sentence. In listening comprehension even the smallest pause in

attention can be very damaging to understanding. Another problem is students

find is the speaker speed. If the speaker speaks faster than usual, students

might have difficulty capturing the target word.

As a result, students must know what successful language learners do

when they face problems in their learning activities.

In this case, students can

use metacognitive listening strategies to listen to them. All this time

article, researchers want to know what metacognitive listening is like

the strategy most often used by students.
