Estimation of Sediment Movement on a Tidal Flat Using UAV. His background in conducting
this research is Importance and value of tidal flats / wetlands, Maintenance of Ecosystem
Ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction (Eco-DRR). He explained that condition of tidal flats
in the world is Tidal flats have declined by 16.02% since 1984. At an instantaneous rate of
change of around −0.55% per year, this suggests a potential loss of more than 20,000 km 2 of
tidal flats globally since 1984. Here is a natural tidal flat. There is no big rivers which can be a
source of sand supply to this tidal flat near here. Then, once this tidal flat start to reduce the
extent extremely, it is hard to keep this flat. And it will result in the disappearance of this tidal
flat. Local people, especially fishery people, are very worried about it. To discuss the future
management policy and countermeasures of tidal flat shrink, our laboratory started the research
here.
Based on the conclusions of the research that has been done, the sedimentation
process occurs in tidal flats and the total sand in tidal flats is almost awake despite changes in
topography caused by natural phenomena such as typhoons. Morphological changes from tidal
flat will continue in the future. however maintenance will continue in the future if the amount
