Why I chose this topic:

While working with my team, we had many ideas and directions we wanted to focus on that

would also match the theme for this year. We eventually discovered our current topic which is

the space race. We found it very interesting and educational with the technology and testing that

they went through to accomplish a goal of being the first to get to space. We found it very cool

how the exploration of space was furthered and more fine tuned. This topic was one of the

biggest accomplishments of America of that generation, where it broke barriers, and made

further discoveries in this day and age.

How did we conduct our research?

My group conducted research by finding various primary and secondary sources online and by

researching online using the internet. We read passages and summarized information from

reputable sources, and interpreted it to correctly use it to inform people viewing our project. We

viewed different models and diagrams from actual historic records and noted significant points

and attributes that would help us gather important information.

How did we choose our category and how did we create our project?

We chose the category of a group website because technology is all around us today, and

spreading more than ever. In addition, in previous years I have done this before, and I am

familiar with technology and website development from previous experience. We created our

project by making a clean formatted webpage that conveys our information and discoveries in a

simple, clean and direct style.

How does our topic relate to this year’s theme breaking barriers?

Our topic relates to the theme of breaking barriers because getting to space was a big

accomplishment America and the USSR were racing to achieve. The goal of making it to space

was one that would sway people's thoughts and confidence in history. It was definitely

something that was groundbreaking and never done before, breaking the first stage of space

exploration.
