AN ANALYSIS OF TINTIN’S INTELLIGENCES TO REVEAL THE

SECRET OF UNICORN SHIP MODELS ON THE ADVENTURE OF


TINTIN FILM BY STEVEN SPIELBERG

ABSTRACT

This research was focused on the intelligences of Tintin character and its
application to reveal the secret of Unicorn ship models. Based on the research
objectives, they were: (1) to figure out the types of intelligence performed by
Tintin and (2) to describe how Tintin applied them to reveal the secret of Unicorn
ship models.
The method used in this research was qualitative since the data were in the
form of description. The data were collected by analyzing the conversation on the
script and the captured of film scenes that described Tintin’s intelligences.
The findings showed that there were three types of intelligence that Tintin
applied in the film: (1) analytical intelligence, (2) creative intelligence and (3)
practical intelligence. The applications were represented in Tintin’s five major
actions: (1) revealing the hidden message in the newspaper, (2) tricking the
villains to escape from storage room, (3) taking over the seaplane to reach
Bagghar city, (4) tracking S.S. Karaboudjan’s location and (5) revealing the
message in the third scroll of Unicorn model.
