An entrepreneur should possess some characteristics that can bring

the business idea into reality. Entrepreneurship is a long process


before you reach the reward. Failures is just an experience to learn
from your mistakes- don’t quit and never give up. This was the
realizations of the interviewer during the interview with Mrs. Neliza
M. Magsakay.

The interview was held on November 5, 2019, through face to face


method. It was an interesting interview with Mrs. Magsakay, a
businesswoman with twenty-five years of experience in
entrepreneurship. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and
start her business on 1994 at the age of 25. In addition, with the
help of their business, her four children finished their studies in
Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Arts in Communication
Science, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Bachelor of
Science in Medical Technology.

The name of the business venture that Mrs. Magsakay have is


KLAJUBEC Enterprises. She come up with this name through the
combination of their family's name. The type of business
organization that she has is sole proprietorship which have a lot of
competitors in the business industry. Her father-in-law motivates
Mrs. Magsakay to start her business and taught her on how to enter
the business industry, and she come up with the idea of selling a
variety of materials for construction and electrical supply. The fund
that she uses to start a business is through her savings but the
savings that she has is not enough that is why she loans in the bank.
In addition, she shared to us the necessary skills to run this type of
business such as you should know every little detail about the
products that you will sell, leadership, management skills, consumer
friendly and commitment to your workers and customers.
Nevertheless, the strengths of KLAJUBEC Enterprises is they can
offer a variety of products to their consumers while the weaknesses
of their business venture are every peak season, they can’t meet
the demand of the consumer. Mrs. Magsakay also shared the
problem that she encountered while starting her business, it is about
their workers, the communication between her and employees are
really poor to the point that it affects her business. So, she advises
that open communication in work is important. The social,
economic, environmental, technological, legal and political
environments can have an impact to the price of their products. Mrs.
Magsakay also added that her reasons for selecting their current
business venture is because of her father-in-law who motivates her
and when she started her business, it has a higher demand for
construction materials. The advantage of her business is the
construction materials and electrical supply is always in demand and
their products will not be broken even though it is stock in a long
time.

However, before she starts her business venture, Mrs. Magsakay


worked in the hardware as a saleslady to have an idea about the
details of construction materials and electrical supply. She also
completes all the requirements needed in her business-like permits.
In addition, the interviewee shared that their sales are doing good,
and they have 30 workers. Also, Mrs. Magsakay gives some ideas to
have a successful customer base which is you should be honest to
your customers and to catch the attention of the customers, you
should advertise your business through making sure that the quality
of construction materials is durable. The interviewer using her
profits to their expenses, investments and savings for the future
use, and she has a business plan to run and expand her business,
but it is still in the process. In spite of that, Mrs. Magsakay shared
that the biggest problem that she met while running KLAJUBEC
Enterprises is when the time came where she has a lot of
competitors and the solution she does is through making sure that
her products can meet the needs of her consumers. Also, Mrs.
Magsakay cleared that she doesn’t have any public assistance that
help her to become a successful entrepreneur and the personal
characteristics she has that contributed to the success of her
business venture is determination to grow the KLAJUBEC
Enterprises.

Before we end the interview, we asked her to give the top three
skills that she thinks are needed to be a successful entrepreneur-
courage, discipline and heart for your business. Also, she gives some
advice for the college students and for the graduates who want to
become an entrepreneur, she said that in business, we should not
be afraid to fail because failure bring some lessons and strengthen
us to meet our goals and God has a good plan for us so don’t quit
and never give up. Mrs. Magsakay learned from this interview that if
she stays in her comfort zone and be afraid to try, she will never
reach what she achieved today.
