THE NATIONAL ROUTE 40

Good evening everybody! How are you?

My main point is Mendoza province, however in the first part of my presentation
I will talk about the legendary national route 40. After that, I’m going to talk about
some of the attractions of that province.
The national route 40 was created in 1935. It has more than five thousand
kilometers long, and crosses the country from north to south. It is the longest
route in Argentina, and is one of the longest in the world. It’s among the 10 most
important roads in the world for its landscapes, extension and variety of regions
that it crosses: Cuyo, NOA and Patagonia. In short, is a fascinating route.
The national route 40 is born in Cabo Virgenes, Santa Cruz and ends in La
Quiaca, Jujuy.
Crossing this route you can access to more than 20 National Parks, for instance
Nahuel Huapi or Lago Puelo National Park, but not only that, this route crosses
11 provinces, and one of them is Mendoza, ¿Do you know this province?
It’s located in the Cuyo región and is the national capital of wine. If you like wine,
you will like the tour.
This province produces 70% of the country’s wine production and It has many
attractions, but I chose two of the most representative ones.
To know it, I propose to visit it in March, in a three day tour of Mendoza.
Day 1:
We depart Armando Tola airport at 1 pm and we arrive to Mendoza at 6 pm. That
day you’re going to have free time.
Day 2:
We’re going to travel The Wine Route visiting three wineries, which can be the
wineries of Antigal, Viña Cobos, Zuccardi, etc.
On the tour you’re going to visit the vineyards, learn about the production and
harvest of the vine, tasting one of the best wines of the country, and end the visit
having lunch in one of these wineries.
Day 3:
The last day we’re going to enjoy another attraction that this province has: the
National Grape Harvest Festival, a celebration that is done during the harvest
season, in March, in which the work and the harvest of the vine is honored.
This festival is celebrated since 1936. Today, each city in the province holds its
celebrations, we can participate in the central event at the Frank Romero Greek
Theater.
Day 4:
We fly to Calafate in the morning. Ending our trip.

Tips
March is the perfect month to visit Mendoza because is the harvest season, but
it is not easy to find a hotel, or to hire tours because many people want a wine
tour in Mendoza, so you should book hotels and tours in advance.
There are accommodations that have restaurant, so you don’t need to go to
another place to eat.
To do the wine tours, you can rent cars or bicycles. If you choose for one of these
two options, you mustn’t drink too much.
If you are going to drink a lot, it’s better that you can hire the tour at a travel
agency.
In conclusion, if you like wine, this is a perfect tour for you.
