Erwinia is a genus of Enterobacteriaceae bacteria containing mostly plant


pathogenic species which was named for the famous plant pathologist, Erwin
Frink Smith. It contains Gram-negative bacteria related to Escherichia coli,
Shigella, Salmonella, and Yersinia. They are primarily rod-shaped bacteria.
