1. Prerequisites

You need to have administrator rights on the computer in order to install STEDS
Navigator.
When installing STEDS Navigator with Windows 7, notifications regarding changes
on the computer must be switched off (see 1.1. Disabling User Account Control
[Windows 7]).

1.1 Disabling User Account Control (Windows 7)

Open the User Account Control settings by clicking the Start button followed by
Control Panel. Type "uac" in the search box and then click Change User Account
Control settings.

Alternatively:

Open the User Account Control settings by clicking the Start button. Then type "uac"
in the search box and click Change User Account Control settings.

To disable User Account Control, move the slide control to Never notify and then click
OK.

If you are asked to enter an administrator password or provide confirmation, enter the
password or provide confirmation. The computer must be restarted in order to disable
User Account Control.

2. Installation

2.1 General information

The STEDS Navigator installation pack contains three DVDs; the setup information is
on disc 1.
On the other DVDs, you will find the workshop manuals in German, English, French
and Dutch or in English, Italian and Spanish, as well as the maintenance and
operating instructions, which are also available in German, English, French and
Dutch or in English, Italian and Spanish.
A fourth DVD was supplied with the installation pack for versions up to and including
D8.11; this DVD held the data for the LinkOne catalogues. This DVD is no longer
required for versions D8.12 and higher, as the catalogues are now viewed via the
STEDS CatalogViewer.

2.2 Installing STEDS Navigator

Once installation has started, please select the setup language first of all.

If an older version of STEDS Navigator is already installed on your computer, this will
be uninstalled prior to installing the new version.

Next, please enter your user information and the serial number.

Once the program has been successfully installed, please restart the computer.

No administrator rights are required to subsequently use STEDS Navigator; power

user rights are sufficient for this purpose.

2.3 STILL AC

For information on how to use STILL AC (STILL Application Control), please refer to
the STILL AC instructions.

2.4 Registering the diagnostics

The diagnostics are registered automatically once STEDS Navigator has been
launched for the first time.

Successfully registered diagnostics are marked with a green tick; unsuccessfully

registered diagnostics are marked with a red cross. If the registration of a diagnostic
has not been successful, a notification message appears and you have the option to
continue with the registration of the remaining diagnostics.
You can register unregistered diagnostics manually at a later stage. If you have any
questions relating to this process, please contact Central Service in Hamburg.

2.5 Installing the workshop manuals

The serial number is not required in order to install the workshop manuals.
You may combine the languages of the workshop manuals and the maintenance and
operating instructions in any way you wish.
Once you have started the setup process for the workshop manuals, you can choose
between a full installation and a user-defined installation. If you choose the user-
defined installation, you can select the languages to be installed.

2.6 Installing the maintenance and operating instructions

The serial number is not required in order to install the maintenance and operating
instructions.
You may combine the languages of the workshop manuals and the maintenance and
operating instructions in any way you wish.
Once you have started the setup process for the maintenance and operating
instructions, you can choose between a full installation and a user-defined
installation. If you choose the user-defined installation, you can select the languages
to be installed.

Generation of order file with STILL Application Control

Step 1

Start the STILL application control (Start – Programs – STILLAC – STILL Application
Control)
Select Licensing if the screen was not opened during the start of the STILL
Application Control.

Step 2

Input of data:
The fields marked in red are optional fields

FS/S: You have to put in here the full company name.

Region: You have to put in here the country code like ‘D’ or ‘I’ the zip code and the
name of the town.

Step 3

Check all data!

Subsequently click on button Order file and store the order file in the PC.

Step 4

Send the generated order file to the person in charge.

Wait until you get the license file from the person in charge, subsequently continue
with the activation.

Activation of the STEDS Navigator with STILL Application Control

Step 5

Start the STILL Application Control (Start – Programs – STILLAC – STILL Application
Control)
Select Licensing if the screen was not opened during the start of the STILL
Application Control.

Step 6

Click on button License file and select the license file received by the person in
charge.
Observe the correct date in entry Licence file valid until:!
Exit the activation by clicking on button OK for acknowledgment.

The used user group is displayed in the Security Control Client survey behind
'diagnosis'.
The STEDS Navigator can be used upon successful activation.
