C. ABSTRACTIONS
 Before we discuss our topic, let’s have
first read our objectives so that we will be
guided throughout our discussion.
 Everybody read. (Students are reading)
Stress- The physiological responses to a
significant or unexpected change or disruption in
one’s life.( Payne 2005)
 So, Bayonla. What do you mean by stress  Stress Ma’am is the result of having lots
using your own words? of problems.
 Very good.
 Stress can be a motivator. It can be
essential to survival. The “fight or flight”
mechanism can tell us when and how to
respond danger. However, if this
mechanism is triggered too easily, or
when there are many stressors at one
time, it can determine a person’s mental
and physical health and become harmful.
 Stress have 2 kinds, these are Eustress
and Distress.
 Nallatan please read the first kind of  Eustress refers to a positive and healthy
stress. response of the body form a stressor.
 Thank you. So, from what you have read  It is a kind of positive stress Ma’am.

 Very good Nallatan. So, when we say
Eustress from the definition read by
Nallatan, it is a kind of positive stress.
Meaning to say, there is a positive result
of this kind of stress.
 Most of us equate all stress with negative
experiences. We simply define stress as  Yes Ma’am.
negative. Am I right?
 So, Eustress is usually a product of
nerves, which can be brought on when
faced with a fun challenge. According to
Genovese, a clinical psychiatrist, Eustress
is important because without eustress,
our well-being can suffer. Why? Because
it helps us stay motivated, work toward
goals, and feel good about life. Exciting or
stressful events cause a chemical
response in the body. Example of this
kind of stress is; at school, you have lots
of projects then you consider those
projects as good stressors, you may find it
as challenging. Another example,
travelling, we know that travelling can be
stressful especially when you’re exploring
a faraway place with different language
and customs, so you have this difficulty of
coping or speaking another language, on
the other hand, you consider it also as a
positive because you think of it as
challenging, enjoy new experiences,
meeting other people, and others.  Poverty Ma’am. Some of the students
 How about another example Guising? don’t like to go to school because they
don’t have money to support study. They
don’t know that it can have a positive
result if we have this determination and
do not look that poverty can be a
hindrance to our success. Hence, we
should say that poverty is not the
hindrance of success.

 Very good Guising.  None.

 Any question about Eustress?
 Next we have:
 Distress- refers to a negative reaction of
the body towards a given stressor.
 So, this type of stress can lead to anxiety,
depression, and a decrease in
performance. It is a total opposite of the
first kind of stress.
 Example of these are:
1. Anger
2. Anxiety
3. Nervousness
4. Irritability
5. Tension
 Other common examples of distress
are: the death of our family member,
illness, being abused, separation of
your family or love ones. These
examples have bad result to our lives.
It can lead as our poor performance
in school, at home. If we have this
problem at home it might affect our
performance at school.  Example Ma’am if have misunderstanding
with our Parents our performance in

school is slow and it may result to failing

as much as possible, we should not
tolerate stress or we should not give
stress a space in our lives. We should
