An electrical hazard can be defined as. a dangerous
condition where a worker could make electrical contact with energized equipment or a conductor, and from which the person may sustain an injury from shock; and/or, there is potential for the worker to receive an arc flash burn, thermal burn, or blast injury. A chemical hazard is a type of occupational hazard caused by exposure to chemicals in the workplace. Exposure to chemicalsin the workplace can cause acute or long-term detrimental health effects.
Assessing the risks of slips, trips and falls. The risk
ofslips, trips and falls should always be considered: 1. Look for slip and trip hazards around the workplace, including floor coverings and their condition, uneven floors, trailing cables and areas that are sometimes slippery due to spillages. Some common fire hazards are: Kitchen fires from unattended cooking, such as frying, boiling, and simmering. Electrical systems that are overloaded, resulting in hot wiring or connections, or failed components. Combustible storage areas withinsufficient protection. Manual handling is any transporting or supporting of a load by one or more workers. It includes the following activities: lifting, holding, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving of a load.1 The load can be an animate (people or animals) or inanimate (boxes, tools etc) object.
