A. TITLE : MEASUREMENT OF A TRANSMISSION TRANSMISSION FOR 5 KM

B. PURPOSE :
 Measuring the damping distribution, along a symmetrical two-wire channel.
 Measuring the maximum voltage and output of a line, if the end is open (off-load) and if the
end is short-circuited.

C. WORK STEPS
 Make a series as shown in Diagram 1. Set the generator voltage to Ug = 4 Vpp = 1.42 Vrms =
5.25 dBm, as measured in mV meters or dB meters.
Try to keep these values constant for the whole experiment.
Measure the output voltage of the channel on the oscilloscope, set on the diffential input.
Make sure that both Y channels are set on the same deflection. Install the 10: 1 test probe
carefully. Complete the measurement table on worksheet 1 by using the frequency as specified
in the worksheet.
From the measurement values, calculate channel attenuation a (dB), a = 20 log, and enter these
values on the graph in worksheet 2.
 Comparing the attenuation value obtained when the tip is open and the channel is
contaminated, with the tolerance area in Figure 2. Evaluate the results of the comparison.
 Damping losses can be normalized at 0 dB, as long as the basic attenuation can be removed by
the amplifier. Compare the attenuation attenuation with the tolerance region.
