Asana

I decided to research the program Asana. The reason why I decided to research Asana
was because honestly, I’m always a mess and often times very disorganized. I have dozens of
sticky notes, pieces of papers, calendars in different areas of my house, and they all say different
things. When I researched Asana, I realized it’s a great tool to help stay organized with task’s,
goals, and it even helps with teamwork and managing a team’s workload. I decided that this was
the best program to research after I learned all these amazing things!

Asana was founded in 2008 in San Francisco, California. It was created by Dustin
Moskovitz and Justin Rosenstein. The program finally launched commercially in April of 2012.
This program was created to help organize personal or teamwork tasks. You can create calendars
for deadlines, sticky notes, meetings, a goal timeline, templates, and it is even used as internal
communication! It also allows you to keep your project and teamwork private!

A fun fact that I learned while researching this product is that “asana” in yoga term
actually means “seat” and completing this pose in yoga, you become comfortable and relaxed.
This signifies that when you use asana you will be relaxed and at peace with your workload! I
thought that was pretty cool and interesting!
I also learned that there are over 25,000 paying customers, and these customers include huge
companies such as, Uber, Airbnb, Spotify, Bed Bath & Beyond, and even Nasa!
You can also use Asana it through a web browser (PC) and through a mobile device! It is
supported with both Apple and Androids. Making it extremely easy to work on the go!
Lastly, I learned that this program has launched integrations with third-party software’s such as
Google Drive, Jira, OneDrive, Dropbox, and Slack, and Google just announces Asana will be
accessible directly from Gmail making it easily accessible and shareable.

A way I would use this program as a future teacher would be to keep my work deadlines
in check. These could include meetings, filling out documents, and parent-teacher conferences.
Another way I could use this program was to help students who are struggling with keeping their
workload manageable. I could create a goal timeline/calendar for the student/parents so they can
keep track of what assignments are due.
I think if I used this program as a teacher, I might encounter issues with sharing this program
with parents/students. It is a little complex and you would have to have the tutorials to fully
understand its full capabilities. I would have to be cautious and make sure I don’t overwhelm the
parents or the students.

There are three options when it comes to payment. There is a basic version that is free to
use but it has limited access to certain features. This basic version allows up to 15 team
members and allow limited dashboard and search functions and allows unlimited task projects
and conversations. Next there is a Premium option. This option cost’s $9.99 a month. This option
adds features such as admin controls, single sign-on, and it also gets ride of restricts on the
dashboard and team size. The last option is called the Enterprise plan. The price on this one can
range because you can choose what features you have included. This option does offer advanced
admin controls, custom branding, and same-day support. It even included added security. There
are plenty of options so, this could be easily accessible to parents, students and other teachers!
