An aspect of thailand’s culture is the people’s nationality, ethnicity, religion, and its
locality. People from thailand are known as Thai or Siamese. Siamese is a name for
Thai people used in Western countries. There are over 30 ethnic groups in thailand. A
major religion in Thailand is Buddhism, specifically Theravada Buddhism.

2. Popular culture is diffused around the world. It is heterogenous, and it is spread


through mass communication.Pop culture changes from time to time. Folk culture on the
other hand is local, clustered and slow to change, and is different from place to place.
Folk culture is usually in isolated, rural area. Examples of popular culture includes public
transportation, roads, and skyscrapers in urban areas. Examples of folk culture are the
Chut Thai, or a type of traditional dress, buddhist temples, and rice.

3. In the 1980’s there was an emergence of suburban housing developments and


shopping complexes. Wood was replaced with cement to make large offices and
residences. Shopping malls are also air conditioned.

5. The language map shows me that most of the languages spoken in thailand are from
the tai-kadai language family. Most of the people in thailand are buddhist. Pop Culture is
in large urbanized cities , while folk culture remains in small villages.
