Sprinkler gun

General description

The sprinkler shall consist of a big gun flanged to a female hydrant coupler. These two
pieces form one portable system that shall be connected easily to the male hydrant coupler
fixed to the solid-set pipe network.

The flanged male coupler 6” shall be mounted on a flanged riser pipe of 150 DN. The
overall height shall not exceed 330 mm and shall a withstand a pressure not exceeding 8
bars.

The Gun
The Gun shall be a rotating gun with a barrel inclined at an angle of 23° to 27° with
the horizontal. The gun shall have either a tapered bore or a ring orifice nozzle capable
of discharging a minimum flow of 0.0442 m3/s (44.2 L/s) at a nozzle pressure of 600
KPa +/- 50 KPa, with a minimum throw of 51 m against wind and a maximum throw of
65 metres in direction of wind. The distribution curve of the jet shall be of the flat
doughnet shape.
The gun shall be equipped with the following devices to improve its performance under
windy working conditions:

(i) Variable Rotational Speed Mechanism

The gun shall be fitted with a mechanism that causes its rotational speed to decrease
when the gun is operating against the wind and which causes the rotational speed to
increase when the gun operates with the wind. The maximum rotational speed shall be
140% the minimum rotational speed. The directions in which the rotational speed is a
minimum or a maximum shall be readily adjustable.

(ii) Flashback Mechanism

The gun shall be equipped with a flashback mechanism that causes the gun to reverse
quickly to its original position after having completed one complete sweep.

(iii) Variable Sweep Angle and Duration

The gun shall be able to operate at variable sweep angles included between 0° and
360° and the sweep angle and its orientation shall be readily adjustable on the gun.
The sweep duration shall be also adjustable and shall be a minimum of 200 seconds
when the gun operates at a sweep angle of 360°.
