gasket for the ARD top cover and two bolts.
There have been isolated instances of issues with the
Aftertreatment Regeneration Device (ARD) and the
engine wiring harness on 403F-15T, 404F-22, and
404F-22T engines.
Removal Procedure
1. Verify if the ARD rework kit has been installed to

shown in illustration 1. If the extension harness is in
the batch number identified as having a potential
issue, replace the extension harness. Proceed to
step 4. If the extension harness does not fall into
the batch number identified as having a potential
issue, replacement of the extension harness is not
required.
Note: Batch numbers that have a potential issue are:
40439, 40440 and 40441.
4. If the extension harness is replaced, perform a
service regeneration by selecting the following
menus within the electronic service tool:

• “Service”
• “Service Procedures”

• “Manual Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration”

5. If the ARD rework kit has been installed to the

engine and the extension harness does not have
an issue, follow the diagnostic procedures as
detailed in Troubleshooting.
